Kabalana Surf Hostel

The best hostel in South. The view is unmatchable to any hostels. The staff are super friendly and nice.

It’s quite a nice place to unwind with comfy beds and nice yoga deck. It’s not very social though and there’s a lot of room for improvement. Yoga costs 3000 Rs extra, the water pressure of the showers is close to 0 and while I was there the water filter was broken. Bottled water was offered for 450 Rs/ 0,5 l which is a bit ridiculous unfortunately. Would recommend for 1-2 nights if you’re looking for a quiet place right on the beach but not for a longer stay.

Amazing hostel! For a fair price you get an amazing location, right in the beach. It’s a family friendly beach where you can swim, surf or rent a day bed for a fair prive. Staff is nicest I’ve encountered in Sri Lanka so far.

I loved my stay, I’ve booked one night and end up spending 11 nights ! I was afraid of how big the dorms are but they’re built in a way that gives more privacy then some smaller rooms.

The location is amazing - especially the outside area! The staff was super friendly and helpful. It was not super social and the bathroom was a bit dirty.

One of the best hostels I ever stayed at. Right by the beach ( surfspot) and the rooms are amazing. Stayed there for two nights and the vibe is amazing. Everyone is really friendly :) Definitely will come back!!

very nice place, directly at a good surfing point. There are restaurants nearby, however the train station and the center is in 25 minutes walking distance.

Super schönes Hostel, etwas ruhiger und abseits gelegen mit Surfspot direkt vor der Haustür. Würde jederzeit wiederkommen :)

pros: this property is amazing!!! truly an AMAZING location. right on the beach and you hear the waves while in your dorm. incredible. beds are very comfy and clean. the AC works and there’s a personal fan in each bed too! cons: the facilities are a bit outdated. the dorms don’t have windows so they feel very dark and there isn’t much room to store your belongings so it feels crowded as well. the wifi also did not work well for me. it almost didn’t work at all

Absolutely loved that the hostel is located directly at the beach! They also have a space to do yoga each morning. Would totally recommend!

Such a gorgeous hostel!! I didn’t even want to go anywhere bc it was lovely just hanging around on the sunbeds looking at the surfers and going for a swim straight from the hostel. Beautiful view on the top floor too. Would 100% come back

The hostel is very nice and is right on the beach. It is the nicest hostel I have stayed at in Sri Lanka. The shower needs a little renovation and the water does not work well; very little comes out and it is very weak. They rent motorbikes.

The shower is only minus and the room was so humid that all clothes were wet in the morning but other than that this place is super nice and the ocean view is beautiful.

Wow this is definitely worth a stay if you go to Ahangama. The most idyllic place, where you are gonna get the most amazing sunsets. We couldn’t believe it was this cheap for such a beautiful place! The terrace is amazing, we did yoga/pilates ourselves almost every day. The staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful. The rooms are very nice, a bit too cold in the night I would say with the AC. Also the bathroom could be better equipped with some handsoap and towels for hands.

Location is the highlight! Curtains, two firm pillows, fan and light in bed and towel included, staff friendly, everything very clean! Felt VERY safe! Generally the staff is giving their best to help, especially when asked to change something. Improvements: AC cools down rooms to 24degrees every night, full on, was sleeping with leggins, socks and longsleeve otherwise I'd be freezing! On request they turned it down but only stayed for one night.

Mein absolutes Lieblingshostel im Süden! Mir hat’s so gut gefallen, dass ich zwei mal für insgesamt fast 2 Wochen dort war. Die Lage in Kabalana ist top. Es ist ein bisschen außerhalb von Ahangama (20-30 Gehminuten), wo man dem Trubel entkommt & entschleunigen kann. Das Personal war durchweg super freundlich & ich habe mich sehr wohl dort gefühlt.
