Big Mountain Hostel

SCAM ALERT! I had stayed a couple days before my trek and returned after, they claimed I never paid for my previous nights when I returned but I knew that I had. They then proceeded to call the owner and the owner and another man yelled at me and got in my face harassing me to say I didn’t pay. Eventually my friend told them to check the cameras and after some push back they did, and guess what, I had paid…. All they said was disculpa after intimidating me for 40 minutes.

The shower and the rooms are not very comfortable. However, the guy at the base floor helped me find activities for my stay.

Slechte hostel waar ik tot nu toe heb gezeten. Geen warm water, vies, personeel nooit te vinden. Mega afrader, na 1 nacht vertrokken!

At first the hostel seems nice, then you get into your room and you see the awful beds(uncomfortable), windows that has no view and discover that almost every day from 6:30PM to 8:30AM there is no water, at all. You can't brush your teeth, you can't use the bathroom or take a shower. We had to leave early and look for another place to sleep in.

Friendly staff and good location but did not feel clean, not very sociable, nowhere nice or comfortable to sleep. The whole hostel stank of weed the whole time and the kitchen was dirty.

The hostel had good, basic facilities and people working there were very friendly. What I missed in the hostel was some social activities at the hostel.

The big downside for me was the lack of cosy social space. There are some collective place and the kitchen but they don’t feel super welcoming. And the kitchen could be cleaner

Nice place to stay, but the hot water is not hot enough and the bar they say they have is always closed

El wifi no funcionaba en la habitación, el desayuno deja bastante que desear y la limpieza también. tenía un bus nocturno por lo que hice el check out y luego para tomar una ducha te cobran aparte.

Didnt like the atmosphere, the hostel is quite chilly because of cracked windows and open doors everywhere, the rooms were really bad air and smelly fast, common spaces not inviting. Top floor breakfast area smelled like pee due to the bathrooms being next door, and tour agency downstairs was never open when I walked by. Overall a cheap stay but nothing more

This hostel was fine, however, the photos are old, none of the common area activities shown were working. It could get cold at night and the gas in the hobs was so high I nearly burnt my hand initially. However, the staff were nice and in a good location, there is a lovely tour lady right downstairs so it’s easy to organise trips

We had a good stay here. However we wish that the hostel would provide soap in the bathrooms and that they would replace the kitchen cloths/sponges more frequently! Good hot showers. Okay included breakfast- we made it more filling and interesting by adding fruit and other bits to what they provided.

Très bon établissement, bien situé pour toute activité avec bus à 5min de la plaza armas, personnel accueillant souriant et à l’écoute

Location idéale neanmoins un effort serait à faire sur la propreté et le contact client . Pour 2j c'est ok .

Probably one of the best options in Huaraz. Very social so it's easy to make connections for hikes and such. Everything else is pretty basic and not always very clean but not unbearably so

Great community and staff were friendly and helpful. Well functioning kitchen and good outdoor space and rooftop terrace to hang out

This hostel was brilliant. That staff were so lovely and really helpful. They were great about leaving bags after check out. Social as a solo traveller, really good value for money. Overall great experience definitely recommend staying here!

My stay at Big Mountain was fantastic! Great location, super helpful for booking trips to the lagunas, free breakfast at 7:30am everyday and the rooms are clean and showers hot. Special shoutout to Sonia!

A clean and tidy private room. Solid hot water showers and internet. Not a very social atmosphere and we found the breakfast pretty limited for options and having enough food for all guests.

El lugar está bien,y la gente es muy simpática y acogedora.

Hostel is fine for what you pay. Good location out of all the other hostels, but also noisy at nights. Breakfast is bread rolls. Shower pressure could be improved.

Économique et super efficace. Beaucoup de belles rencontres. Le séjour se rallonge très souvent. Rapport qualité prix superbe. Merci.

everything was great from staff location to basic breakfast, the kitchen needs some maintenance with its utensils and also the doors are cracking some of them don't close but it's safe there anyway

Nice hostel. Breakfast isn't great but I guess the hostel is cheap so it's to be expected.
