Gion Ryokan Q-beh

The room I was in (Kame) had an extremely awful stinky feet smell, despite signs someone also kept turning off the exhaust fan and air conditioning, hot, humid, sweaty, stinky nights every night. The staff were apologetic and put an air freshener in the room to no effect. The push button showers need pressing about every 10 seconds. Seriously. Very thin pillow and thinner than average futon. A struggle for side sleepers. Pin lock front door, bedroom left unlocked 24/7. Staff were nice.

Pros: good location, and infrastructure. Cons: got dust allergy in the first day, they should probably vacuum the inside of the bed capsules a bit more Lady in reception with short hair - not sure if I did something wrong but noticed some mistreatment towards me, although she sounded very kind with other customers

Cozy hostel in the middle of the historic Gion district. Close to temples, shrines and main attractions. Decent hostel with good facilities except that the beds were really thin and kind of uncomfortable and every morning at 11, we were rudely awakened by someone vacuuming (which could have been done later in the day)...

The room smelled like wet socks and someone kept turning the heat off any time I turned it on, so the room was freezing all day and night. Futon bed wasn't as bad as I was expecting but still not good. It's a very cool location right in the middle of all these quiet old buildings, but it's also very old with creaky floors and poor lighting.

Beautiful hostel with a traditional Japanese vibe. Great atmosphere with really friendly staff. Unfortunately the beds were Japanese style futons and I felt like I was sleeping on straight floorboards. For that reason I probably won’t be back, but if you want the genuine Japanese experience I definitely would recommend this hostel :)

This was such a lovely, peaceful hostel with a traditional japanese feeling and the staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations in the area. All in all an amazing refuge to calm down after encountering some of the tourist crowds during the day! Also the sleeping berths were partly enclosed opposed to just having curtains, making it feel very private. Would definitely stay here again!

Hébergement correct, staff en général assez agréable. Malheureusement, certains ne parlent pas anglais, et cela empêche toute interaction. Localisation très bonne et hébergement très propre.

Very cozy and great first time experience at a ryokan. The space is big enough for everything I had and the location is central! Staff was very welcoming and helpful with any questions I had. 100% recommend ☺️

Klimaanlage zum Heizen im Zimmer war angenehm. Betten dünn, aber ok. Gemeinschaftsräume sehr schön, generell super schöne Unterkunft in toller Lage mitten in Gion. Alle japanischen Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, die anderen- naja!

Beautiful hostel in the Gion neighbourhood. The location makes it easy for you to explore Gion and all its beauty early in the morning before the crowds get there. The hostel had nice spaces to spend time in during the day and nice staff, especially Hiroko!

Very very cool building. Old and traditional Japanese building but the facilities were great. Beautiful part of the city. Guests and staff were great. Highly recommend.

It is a nice comfy cozy hostel in Gion area, very beat and clean, quiet atmosphere, 15 min walk to the train station and around 7-10 min walk to the bus stop. Pretty awesome stay.

Great food and location! The staff was so nice and the room was very comfortable and clean.

The place is very nice, I stayed in the female dorm and spent really good nights, the room was spacious. The hostel itself is great but it doesn’t have the best vibes to meet other solo travelers. Location is great! I would 100% recommend it because of that

Thoroughly impressed by this Hostel. If you're considering it trust me, book it. It's worth it for the vibes alone. It's a beautiful blend of traditional Ryokan with modern facilities.

Overall, very lovely hostel. I probably didn't get lucky with my roommates because they would talk after 10 pm, which I thought was rude. But not the hostel's fault, and I would recommend this place to anyone. Very clean facility, comfortable and spacious bedding, and right in the heart of the Gion district.

Incredibly impressed with Q-beh. It is an incredible location, the hostel is beautiful and very clean, and the staff are just gorgeous. Highly recommend!!!

AMAZING SPOT!!! everything was impecable, I love the cozy and quiet vibe of the entire Ryokan. The location is perfect to explore Gion! I would stay back there

amazing for the locations and the ttraditional style of the hostel. the atmosphere is rather quite, so maybe not the best for long stay for solo travelers. but I recommend overall I loved it.

Absolutely stunning hostel. The place is gorgeous, I loved coming back after a day of exploring and chilling out in the common room upstairs with the sunset view. Met some friendly people here but if is also very quiet and chill which is what I wanted from Kyoto. Perfect.
