Arenal Poshpacker Boutique Urban Tropical Hotel

Staff is nice, trying to help. Unfortunately, that is all the positive about this hotel (it is not a hostel!). Our room was tiny, no storage option whatsoever, the bathroom door did not close properly and the kitchen was in rather bad condition, the fridge leaked water heavily. Furthermore, the price on hostelworld was apparently without tax which meant they were charging our credit card higher than the booking said - without communicating that with us. Too expensive, would not go there again.

Most of the staff are awesome, aside from “Jenny”.. she continuously pushed us to book excursions with her right then and there after telling her multiple times we weren’t interested. The younger girl employees are incredible and the man who I think is the boss is also AWESOME!!! When they were there we felt a lot better about everything! Be careful with the prices Jenny will try to convince you with… they are all about double the price of excursions if you book online!

This place fine as a budget hotel but terrible as a hostel. It has no hostel atmosphere and I regret staying here as a solo traveller. I suspect backpackers avoid this place because the dorms are pretty depressing. Also the wifi works

Nice hostel with good common spaces, kitchen and chil / pool area. However the staff was not nice. First we had to switch rooms, because a certain reservation requested our room. Next day we had to switch beds because a certain customer wanted a specific bed. I don’t know why they prefer some customers over others but the unfriendly attitude of the staff was not a great experience for us.

Worst experience ever! We arrived to our room to discover that we have no wifi and the AC was very noisy not to mention the bad conditions of the room (very old). The staff tried to change our rooms but unfortunately with the same problems. We booked for 5 nights but we couldn’t stay for more than 4 nights(AC and wifi weren’t fixed) We asked to refund our last night, the manager didn’t accept in the beginning. Just during our check out, they told us that our last night will be refunded...

One of the worst places I’ve ever stayed at. I booked a ‘deluxe private room’ and it was dirty, humid and it smelled rancid. I could feel the springs in the mattress. The hostel has no character at all. No one uses the common area from where there is loud music blasting all day long. The wifi can only be used in the reception area. The staff, seemingly nice, are quite pushy trying to sell you tours. They take a deposit on the key and then fail to remind you about this upon check out...

The kitchen was always dirty. The room I was in had a strong odour & little black flies in the shower all the time. The wifi was not good, I had zero signal in my room & even in common areas it did not work sometimes. The hostel itself was completely dead, zero atmosphere. My stay at this hostel was not worth the price I paid at all. The staff were kind/helpful, & the location was centrally located which was nice, but that is about all I can say positively about this hostel.

No hot water, talked to the front desk and it still wasn’t fixed 2 days later. No AC, the dorms have two small fans meant to cool down 10 people apparently. Bugs were all over and the refrigerators for storing food were far from sanitary. I regretted my 2 day stay there.

Location is excellent! Booked a private room as a couple and it was decent. Ac is strong, bathroom is private, and space is reasonable. Finding a parking spot can be a challenge.

Basic accommodation for a very good price. The room had beds, that's it - no lockers, no shelves, no curtains, and only one power outlet (behind someone's bed, so no one else could use it). Huge hostel, but no atmosphere or socializing in common spaces during my stay. Room and bathroom was clean, kitchen so-so. For the price it was alright, and it had the basics needed for a stay.

The hostel was nice, right in the middle of a very busy town, so there wasn’t much quiet. But it was clean had a great kitchen and pool. There were no social activities and they were working on hiring a bartender, so there wasn’t a lot to do except go out, which is fine because it’s a beautiful town, but it’s also very touristy so you have to watch prices.

Staff make this place who go out of their way to help. Only one power socket for 4 bunks. Staff(chris) went out of his way to find extention cables etc. Nice kitchen and pool areas. My motorcycle was allowed inside the premises and parked in the garden. Nice. Room was small no security lockers. If 4 people were in it would be tight for room. There is a supermarket next door. Music from 630am outside.

We were in La Fortuna for a short period of time and maybe a slower time, the hostel was pretty quiet but my stars go to the staff.. 10 stars!! We were only there for 3 nights but we felt like we were leaving friends and family!! So much trust, great info anc conversation .. would definitely come back here!!!

Room was not up to cleanliness standard (and I am usually very tolerant on basic accommodation, but this was not up to minimal cleanliness e.g. hairs in bedding, stained / dirty towels, grime throughout shower and bathroom). Facilities weren't in use because of lack of staffing. Staff tried very hard sell on various touristic activities. Attempt at double payment through disorganised systems (having had a payment taken in advance).

Sus habitaciones son cómodas y está muy bien ubicado. Falta aseo en la cocina y tener más secaplatos. No me dio confianza contratar tour con ellos, luego que me ofrecieran por US 25 un trekking al volcan un dia nublado en que no se veia nada y que incluia ir a las termas el choyin, cuando estas son gratuitas....extraño.

This could be one of my favourite hostels I stayed at on my 5 week trip. It was clean, decent location, very very friendly staff (but not overly or in a creepy way which is always appreciated), and the best part is that it had such an awesome atmosphere. It was beyond easy to meet friends here: within 30 minutes of arriving to the hostel we were already walking with a random group of travellers to the rope swing. Great place 🙂‍↕️

Nettes und günstiges Hostel mitten in La Fortuna. Zimmer sind recht normal eingerichtet. Das Bad war leider sehr schlimm (kaputter Klodeckel). Das Personal ist freundlich und kümmert sich. Für uns war es ausreichend.

Posto bello e in posizione comoda. Bagno un po al di sotto delle aspettative. Consiglio di mettere un po più di appendiabiti.

Solo faltó un poco de limpieza en la habitación y cocina

Overall fine hostel rooms had a slightly odd smell, but I think mostly due to moisture. Staff was amazing and super helpful. But overall not a very social hostel.

Perfect hostel for exploring La Fortuna! From our arrival, Milton made us feel very welcome! The check in was easy and they had the room ready early for us which was nice. The hostel was quite quiet but it was the off season so to be expected. Our room was clean and the AC was great. Would recommend!

We visited in low season and got a much nicer room than the one in the pictures. Clean and safe with super friendly personnel.

This hostel was such a great place to stay in La Fortuna. It is right on the main street, right next to food, bars, and stores. It was clean and the staff was lovely. Jenny was available to help us get anything we needed booked and it was so helpful! There's a great kitchen that everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!
