Meander 1948 Hostel - Taipei Main Station

It was meh

Stayed here for 3 nights, during the weekday the rates are cheap and towards the weekend the rates go high ! the best part is the atmosphere which is good as people talk and chill in the common area, the bad part is that the front desk people gave me the key card which wasn’t opening up the rooms and u tried to explain the entire situation as I had a severe back pain So I arrived late for the check out, but she still rudely charged me the full late fee of NTD 200 inspite of telling her. I don’t what it is but the vibes at this hostel were abysmal. It’s very clean and conveniently located. Weird vibes from the staff as well.

Great location near Taipei Main Station. The staff was incredibly helpful and the meal vouchers for nearby restaurants were very handy, helping choose places to eat from all the options nearby. The common area was well stocked and a nice place to spend down time. The room was a bit dusty/dirty in the corners, but that's still relatively easy to overlook given the other pros. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff and great location! However not really any social aspect whatsoever, and the common space often felt like that community aspect was not encouraged. Pods were nice but heads up the mattress was incredibly firm!!

Pretty nice place. Extremely convenient airport MRT access, and location overall is pretty good. It's on a fairly touristy street but still has some authentic food etc, and is in walking distance to interesting parts of the city. Well-connected to other forms of transit. Not much going on at night, but that means it's peaceful. Bedding is comfortable (although a bit hot in the bunks with curtains drawn). Vibe is slightly low despite pretty exterior. Price is a bit too high but nb.

The best part of the hostel is the staff because they are extremely kind. Now, the prices are a bit exaggerated - 50 euros per night at a hostel where there is no life, is pretty lame and I think abusive. There was a common area but no vibes at all, people were either working or eating. Not very international at least in ny personal experience. Location is excellent. If you can afford paying this and you look for a place that can be quiet, stay here.

The rest of the hostel mates were all Chinese (Taiwanese) so there was no atmosphere. They have very strict smoking rules and none is allowed on the 4th floor balcony (which seems silly) but also on the small bench outside the front door. Otherwise a beautifully designed hostel.

beautiful property with a great location. would love to see more social events hosted or coordinated. it seemed like they were starting to host some tours, but it would be cool if they were to partner with local hosts to do more of this. walking tours, food tours, day trips, etc.

Very clean, safe and relaxing place! The staff was nice, rooms and showers were clean, dorm beds felt private, lockers and facilities were prefect and the common room great. 5-10 minute walk from Taipei main station.

Wirklich ein super Hostel! Die Betten und vor allem die Bettdecke ist super bequem und alles weich und sauber. Sehr sicher und man hat alles was man braucht auf hohem Niveau! Sehr toll!!!

Amazing! I'm definitely staying here again! It's so clean, comfortable, and the staff are just amazing! The little details just make it that much better than the average hostel: wooden room card, individual curtains & light, common spaces, and amazing breakfast options! I love this place!

Amazing staff, super clean, and perfect location. Was central to everything. There’s a common room upstairs to hang out in and they organize tours like Day hikes every few days to help facilitate meeting other travelers.

This hostel is amazing. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm and also a private room. It’s very clean and you get a fresh bath mat for every shower and new towels very regularly. Each bed in the shared rooms has its own curtain, shelf, plug etc and was very comfy. It’s very near Taipei main station so easy to access the main sites. There’s a great common area but not sure how often it’s used for people to get to know each other, would be my only negative. People at front desk are lovely!

Not social at all but the facilities are great and very clean. The staff here is amazing, very welcoming, and always willing to answer any questions you might have. They replace your towel for you each day. Overall one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at, just wish it were more social. (Although I think that’s a common theme in Taiwan)

Great location, very clean and nice common area space. We stayed the first two nights next to the common room and washing machine which meant little sleep due to the noise. Moved to another room and it was so much better. Wish the hostel paid more attention to our request for a quiet room upfront as it didn’t seem that busy.

I had a great stay at this hostel. The place was extremely clean, the common areas were superb and well-maintained, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I’m a female solo traveler and chose the mixed dorm room, and I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay, which I really appreciated. The location is also very convenient—there’s a 7-Eleven right below the building, and it’s close to Taipei Main Station, making it easy to get around. I would definitely recommend this hoste...
