The Dearly Koh Tao Hostel-5 Star PADI Dive Resort

+ Good location between Chalok Bay and the main pier.

- The main issue is the extremely loud air conditioning. At night you basically have to choose between sleeping in the heat or turning on the AC and dealing with a lot of noise. I measured 68 dB inside the room, which is very high for a hotel bedroom. The balcony door was vibrating because of the AC, and we had to wedge a towel against it to reduce the vibration. Other problems during our stay: • Shared men’s showers: out of the two available on the floor, only one was working. • Rooftop advertised by the hotel: the back rooftop is very basic, with broken furniture that was never repaired during our stay. • Mini fridge in the common room: extremely small and already full with two bottles, so not really usable. • The hotel promotes environmental awareness and protecting Koh Tao, but behind the buildings we saw quite a lot of plastic and waste, which felt inconsistent. We also had a confusing experience with room allocation. When we asked to move to an upper floor, we were told it was not the same room category. After showing the photos of the room we had booked on Booking, which clearly matched the upper-floor rooms, a room suddenly became available.

+ Nothing. I didn't like anything about this hotel, the staff are very hard to talk to and strict about silly rules. Worst hotel experience.

- I didn't like that single rooms have to be on the top floor and no elevator. I didn't like the staff because they were not flexible when I wanted to stay in the same single room. I didn't like that the hotel takes money for the towels which they don't even change everyday! I didn't like the fact that the staff didn't try to compensate for the bad experience which clearly they saw I had since I arrived and heard their rules. The hotel is overrated and maybe for backpackers who don't have luggage. Also I tried the food in the hotel and got the wrong order and it was tasteless, i tried the correct order and also tasteless. Never coming back to this hotel again.

- בבוקר הגישו ארוחת בוקר מקולקלת שגרמה לי לוירוס בטן של 4 ימים והשביתה אותי, המים מהברזים בריח של ביוב, מיקום גרוע רחוק מהכל בלי אופנוע אי אפשר להתנייד, לא תמיד יש מים חמים במקלחת וכשיש הזרם חלש, וילונות לא אטומים לאור וכל החדר חלון אחד גדול. החדרים הזוגיים בקומה האחרונה, מליון מדרגות עם התיקים זה סיוט, אף אחד לא עזר לסחוב הכל לחדר. יקר מאוד ולא מספק את התמורה למחיר!!! סבלתי שם! בחיים לא נתתי ביקורת עד למלון הזה שביאס לי את הטיול!

- Arrived at the hostel at 10.15, check in closes at 10.00pm. 15 minutes late, I was straight up refused my room and had to sleep in the common room on a bean bag, yes a bean bag! Somebody was at the deck and refused me? Like id understand if nobody was there but somebody was at the desk and refused me. Anyways after my brilliant night in the common room I am having a coffee in the morning the next day when I get a notification from my bank saying Dearly hostel have taken £13 out your bank for your stay. My stay?! I stayed in a common room with a million mosquitoes! I could get a massage and a happy ending for less, I’m furious. Jokes aside was not a good experience.

+ Absolutamente nada. No solamente te hacen pagar por las toallas y las llaves (te piden un depósito) sino que las instalaciones además de estar mal mantenidas, está sucio. Cucarachas en el baño por la noche, no está bien saneado y, en fin, las habitaciones se hacen una vez cada semana para haber tantísimo transeúnte. Hablando del personal de recepción: honestamente, decepcionante. Excepto una chica, el resto parecía que tenías que agradecerle haber venido. El desayuno justísimo. Apenas sin fruta ni opciones saludables. Si tienes algún tipo de intolerancia como mi caso: te hacen pagar 35THB por un poco de leche para el café (soluble). Detrás del edificio del hostal hay casas con gallos. Tengas o no el sueño ligero, es completamente imposible dormir ahí: cantan de 2 de la mañana a 5. Además, los vecinos empiezan a hacer ruido a partir de las 6 y hasta las 23 están dando la matraca. Dicho esto, no recomendaría por nada del mundo pagar 20€ por alojarte en este lugar.

+ La habitación está muy bien aunque le falta mantenimiento.

- El personal de recepción es de los más borde que nos hemos topado en Tailandia. No hay ascensor y cuando te toca una habitación en la cuarta planta, viajas con niños y con calor no es lo ideal. La piscina no es una zona muy agradable. Las vistas desde todo el hotel son terribles, suciedad, escombros y abandono.

+ Wir hatten ein schönes grosses Zimmer im 4. Stock mit Aussicht auf Dschungel und Meer vom Balkon. Dusche und Toilette sind getrennt, was wir geschätzt haben. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und wir konnten uns jeden Tag etwas von der Karte bestellen. Der Pool hat eine gute Größe und Schattenplätze. In der Nachbarschaft sind viele unterschiedliche Restaurants und Supermärkte. Das Meer ist in knapp 10 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Wir würden wieder kommen!

+ Got a private room and it was actually secluded, and they were refilling water bottles in the fridge everyday.

- The shower was made so that you can’t take off the shower head + as a smaller person I wasn’t able to reach to change the temperature.

+ Breakfast, parking, pool, bathroom, lounge.

- There were no curtains on the beds, and the lamps by the beds were very bright. If someone had their lamp on in the evening, the whole room was bright. Curtains would solve this problem.

+ Swimming pool realy nice .Breakfast was realy basic but there was enough so not complaining as price was fair

- It was a great place if you want no sleep .No curtains around bed ,Door would slam if you went out realy noise room ,would not recommend 9 beds I don't know how the 4 bed room was

+ Nous avions une chambre familiale à 4 lits, petite et simple mais confortable. Les rangements sous le lits sont très bien. En famille et donc sans scooter, le top c’était les navette gratuite pour la plage les après midi et les spots du coucher de soleil. Les spots changent tout les jours. La piscine est vraiment sympa! L’ambiance est au top Nous avons passé un très bon moment en famille, merci beaucoup

+ The room was extremely comfortable and the swimming pool area was peaceful and quiet.

- It was missing a bar around the swimming pool. But that is just a small detail.

+ The resort hosts a daily shuttle to a different beach and sunset bar, every day!! It is nice to be separate from the hustle and bustle of the main beach, while still having access to the island without a motorbike. Highly recommend!

+ We liked everything: the location, the staff, the rooms, the pool, the diving classes. It was so easy to get to know other backpackers in the common rooms and through the various activities offered by the hostel, like the free shuttle to the beach or to see the sunset twice per day! We also took the open water diver class for 3 days for about 300€, we loved it and we loved our instructor Tan! Free breakfast was included and tasty and you could order tasty thai food until 20pm. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, two 7 elevens and a beach just 10 minutes away.

+ Lovely staff and it’s very social hostel. You don’t need a scooter since they offer daily beach rides.

+ The people are so lovely and welcoming. Very good hospitality, breakfast and such a beautiful atmosphere. The pool was amazing. The people were amazing too. I highly recommend this hostel!!!
