The people are lovely and the hostel seems to have excellent vibes, but they literally don't stock hand soap in the dorm bathroom which is disgustingly unsanitary, and the bed is maybe the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on. Literally felt like there was a hole splitting the center of the (lumpy) mattress.
Definitely not worth the price. Kitchen under renovation and no common area to meet other guests. Staff at check in unfriendly. Room numbers written on masking tape 😂 Toilet paper rationed to one roll for a 4 bed dorm, always running out. Changed rooms and still none supplied. Beds uncomfortable, curtains dirty. My labelled food was stolen from the fridge twice.
I wasn't warned, but kitchens and common rooms were under renovation, leaving no space for travelers to rest or chat. Staff added nothing to the hostel’s atmosphere—no hello, no breakfast or activities proposed. Just a stopover place where it's made hard to interact. My room faced a noisy street, and the bed curtain had old vomit stains. Poor value at £50 (much more if not booked early). I’d suggest to stay at the Britannia instead—cheaper and at least hotel-level comfort.
We had an unpleasant experience here. We reserved for 5 people in a 6-person dorm, expecting that we would all be in the same room. But they decided us over two rooms. We did not like this and also not how indifferent the staff was about this. A 'sorry' would be nice. They thought we still had to pay and had to show ourselves that we already did. The kitchen area was closed without noticing us up front, or without reducing the tarif. The bathroom smelled really bad. Would not recommend!!
very old and worn out. walls as thin as paper, some rooms are used even though they have a fire door.
Please, avoid this hostel at all cost. The toilet/shower facilities is in the dorm, and the door is than thin that you can hear everything inside! The mattress is awful, you can feel the spring and I hardly slept. Another thing was that people in my dorm were constantly making so much noise, going in and out. It’s a cheap option but would probably avoid because it’s not worth a sleepless and uncomfortable night!
There were renovation workd going on in and around the hotel, the photos shown do not refect reality, the rooms were old, dirty, stains on thr walls and floor, there was no hot water for the shower, and there was so much noise from the disco opposite all night that we had trouble sleeping! Ideal for party people but not for families with children
There was mouse running in the kitchen and all plates and kitchen utensils are easily exposed to mouse running path, my bedroom was right on top on the nigh club and when I complained the next morning, manager Steve simply said this is lively city center hostel and it is our business model, you should be having fun late night 😟
Overall very bad for the price. Worst pillow and mattress I’ve ever had at a hostel. WiFi doesn’t work. Storage cubbies inadequate in size and inconveniently placed. DO NOT stay here in the fall - they turn the heat on full blast so rooms and common areas above the first floor were unbearably hot (like 27+ C) despite temp outside being around 12 C. I asked if they could turn the heat down but nothing changed. I was on a top bunk on the 2nd floor and it was too hot to sleep, I just laid there...
A basic need is the internet and unfortunately there wasn't in my stay, I ended up leaving earlier to do things from work that I couldn't do from the comfort of my room.

the location of the hostel is amazing! It’s literally in the middle of the northern quarter and only 15 mins away from the piccadilly train station (by foot). the beds were quite comfortable and the curtains allowed for a bit of privacy. It can get loud especially when your room is facing the street but overall would recommend for a few nights! also they offer a free luggage storage
The only good thing was the location and that there’s shelves on the beds which is mostly appreciated when you get the top bunk bed. But it didn’t have any lounge areas and I saw a mouse in the kitchen so that’s disgusting and also is the most expensive hostel I stayed in and it was definitely the worst
Gets abit loud at night because of the bars down and opposite. But it is a lively neighbourhood with food and shopping
Aperçu des souris dans la cuisine …
A pleasant easygoing stay, if I visit Manchester again this is where I'll be choosing!
We just stayed here for one night and really came back late and left in the morning so we can’t say much to the hostel vibes but we were happy with everything in general! Very comfortable and all :)
First night was the hottest night in Manchester in April and my room without open windows was too warm and they very nicely and conveniently switched my room to a more open room with a window. The staff helped in every way for my first hostel stay and the bathrooms are perfectly clean and cleaned regularly. Highly recommend your right in northern quarter in the heat of Manchester night life.
I had amazing stay . The hostel was have everything and the location is top notch in the centre . I will stay this hostel , when I am going to Manchester
Great hostel would stay here again. Just wish the female room is the same price as mixed 4 bed, women should not have to pay extra for safety.
Spent just the night. Clean and warm. Staff very nice and helpful
Staff is the main reason for five stars. Pavol helped me out when I really needed it!
Room was great. Lots of storage and privacy. Only downside was the mattress had springs (one of which poked me in the back all night). I only wish the kitchen had more mugs and a proper space to storage dry foods.
Absolutely loved the room! The curtains were perfect and you had your own little box. Stayed in a 4 person female dorm and everyone was always so quiet and respectful. The only thing I would say is that it does get noisy outside at night, but that’s because the location is right in the middle of a busy and fun neighborhood. Would recommend!
Great location right in the middle of the northern quarter. Friendly staff, clean rooms/bathrooms and huge kitchen. Would definitely stay here again
Will, the Egyptian guy, was very nice, and he moved me to a different room when one of the roommates was snoring like a monster out of hell, and I needed to tiptoe to someplace else.
The staff at the hostel were nice and helpful but overall it wasnt the greatest place to stay. The wifi was not great, the cleanliness was mediocre, and there seemed to be a bunch of sketchy people not staying there but hanging out in the common area?
reception wasn’t available for some reason, so had to wait a while until someone came to check me in.
Excellent location, clean beds with curtains, cupboards a shelf and plugs in the bed, felt very private. Definitely recommend.
Was really good stay , really good for money and amazing location and accessibility , a guest came in at 3 in the morning shouting and swearing which was a bit upsetting but overall from mancuna it was really good experience and would like to Cole back if ever in Manchester
Vriament top, très propre, moderne et de l’espace. Bien placé
