Sailomyen Cafe & Hostel

The check in and out staff were extremely rude and unhelpful which left us extremely dissatisfied and never wishing to return. Spoke with the manager who never mentioned a checkout time or late checkout fee we were 10 minuets late checking out due to carrying our large bags down 3 flights of stairs before grab, and were asked to pay for an entire extra night as the room was unusable, staff took time making it 30 minuets later, they used this to claim lateness. Left being refused our deposit back

Overall my experience was very good until the end. At first the place was clean and the location is convenient to places. Bedsheets are clean. If you ask the receptionist, he would help out. There’s a big but. I booked the train ticket through their partner: Family service. They supposed to pick you up and sent you to the train station. The outrageous thing they did was to cancel my ticket 15 mins before the departure time without my knowledge at all!!! That messed up my whole trip plans.

Was an ok stay for the night. The staff and cafe were nice however the bathrooms are very tight and did not feel clean. I was also put in a room with someone who had been living at the hostel for 3 months. Their stuff was everywhere when I arrived (hoarder I suspect) and the floors were very wet as they began cleaning the floors with their own products. The staff kindly moved me to a different room on request.

I found a ball of hair on my bed when I checked in, I took a photo to show it to reception who smiled and said "I will tell Housekeeping". The shower door did not closed. There is no garbage bin in the room. The room (dorm) is very small. They ask you to take off the shoes to go to the floor but you feel duat and dirt under the feet when you get in bed and the floor math are grey of dirt. I had a burger at the bar and was sick after it. Breakfaat included? Some savoury staff and nescafè...

Nice hostel, reception is in the cafe area. The rooms and bathrooms were so small. Also was so hot - 35 degrees outside and someone kept turning the aircon off in the room so maybe a sign by the aircon could be a good idea

No social area, just a cafe. Rooms are clean, nice beds. Easy transfer booking to my next destination. But: They don’t use the current exchange from google for example. They use their own rate and it’s not so good. I paid around 20.000 Kip more for one night. If you stay longer this will make a big difference!

Rooms are cramped, but fairly clean. Bathroom could use more attention, okay place for one night. Bed is comfy and black out curtains work well, a/c also in the rooms and breakfast is included. The cafe is a nice spot to sit and do some work.

Such a lovely hostel in terms of cleanliness and super nice staff. The free breakfast was incredible, only issue is requires a good walk to things but same issue is probably found with most places in such a big city

Meilleure auberge de ma vie !

An impressively well set up hostel, featuring clean and modern facilities, and a great cafe downstairs (with free breakfast included!). A highlight had to be the staff, who were a big help in providing information about the city. Only improvement would be that the dorm didn't have much room for everyone's backpacks, so some dedicated space for these could be good!

So clean with super nice staff

My only complaint is that the aircon was slightly bad. I am a very hot sleeper and love the cold, and the aircon didn't work to well from my bed (which was on the opposite side as the aircon).

I had a great stay, super nice staff and the rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The cafe downstairs is good to chill in and the breakfast is great!! Aircon in the room worked perfectly. Just not the most social place.

Super modern and clean. Possibly the nicest hostel in Laos I’ve stayed at as they’re not very nice over here generally. Staff are extremely helpful. A little out of the way but worth it

Really great hostel in Vientiene - the beds were some of the comfiest I’ve had in Asia and for the price with breakfast it’s such good value. It’s not a very social hostel but great for a rest before/after a flight

Very comfy bed and great breakfast. Could use some more comfy couches and maybe social activities.

Beds were comfy and lockers provided. Room didn’t match the photos. Only a male bathroom on our floor, so we had to go upstairs at night. No real social area apart from the cafe’s outdoor space. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Free water refill available. Breakfast was included, made to order, and good.

Nice place to stay for one night

One of the nicest hostels I have stayed in in my 4 months in SE Asia, really modern and clean. Beds are comfy, coffee shop/ food downstairs is good. All the staff are really friendly and helpful

Really nice place. Breakfast is delicious although probably a bit small for some people. There isnt really a common area but you can hang out in the cafe. Probably not ideal if you want to meet people though. Staff were extremely friendly

Great place, friendly staff, very clean and great breakfast. I would certainly stay here again. My only issue is the locks on the rooms. They are regular bedroom door knobs where you have to push the button to lock it. No one in our room except me would lock the door so it was unlocked all night long. There should be something that locks automatically, not relying on people to remember to lock it.

Really clean, good breakfast, free towels as well! It’s kind of in the center, just 15 minutes walk away from the night markets.
