YHA York

Great value, friendly staff, good facilities. Clean comfortable beds. Only negative for me, was corners of the room on carpet were rather dirty. Overall though, 8/10 so no real complaints. Good to see YHA doing ok

We stayed at several hostels on our recent trip to the UK and this one was the best!! Very clean, loved the open lobby areas with lots of seating and natural light. (The only thing I might suggest is that they tone down the overhead music that was on even in the early morning hours.) It was very clean and friendly staff, we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

While a little away from the main drag, the walks to and from the hostel are gorgeous! The staff was helpful when needed and the place was clean enough. Having stayed at a previous YHA I think the vibes aren’t those of a typical hostel where you’re encouraged to meet people and make friends. It’s just a place to sleep.

Very much enjoyed my stay in YHA York. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It’s a home away from home. Great coffee shop and all the facilities you need. Was able to wash my clothes, store my bike.

This is the first hostel ive every stayed at but it was a wonderful experience. Great breakfast and staff.

Nice hostel. Only our room was a bit smelly.

L'ostello è veramente pulito, eravamo due e siamo capitate in camera con solo altre due ragazze. In camera a non ci sono armadietti chiudibili a chiave per gli oggetti di valore. I bagni sono sufficienti per le persone. Il personale è stato gentile con noi. Ci sono delle piccole cucine e un bar e ristorante. Noi abbiamo scelto di cucinare. Gli altri ospiti che abbiamo incontrato, delle età più varie, sono stati gentili. La posizione è un po scomoda per raggiungere il centro.

You can get to this hostel on a lovely riverside walk from York train station. The walk is beautiful but not lit at night, when you can reach the hostel from the city centre walking through a well lit residential area. The hostel is nice and the dorm was very spacious.

Staffs are good. Old and too minimal facilities. Smelly bed. Noisy people. Busy kitchen. Shower is not practical, water is unavoidable splashing out. Damp room even summer time, full of humidity.

Good value overall. It’s about a 25 minute walk to the city center. Felt more like a hotel which was fine with me. The only downside was not having WiFi in the rooms.

Bit far out but clean rooms and nice spacious spot. Washrooms could be a little cleaner!

The Hostel is 30 min walk outside the citycenter, a supermarket is nearby, a kitchen available and a big common area. Ok for 1 or 2 nights...

Pretty good hostel, rooms were very spacious. Each bed with it's own night light and a socket. I will say it was slightly unusual, as the hostel didn't assign a bed, i got a card I had to tie around the bed I chose to claim it. Also, in my room with 8 beds there were only 6 lockers. Personally didn't have an issue getting one, but worth noting. Check in experience was a bit slow. Quite a long walk from the city centre.

Although my stay was short and sweet, I cannot fault this place. From the moment I walked in the staff were very warm and friendly and most helpful. you could feel the positive vibe immediately. The location was ideal and within easy walking distance into the city centre. My room was clean and I felt safe, the other guests I saw very friendly also. I would definitely recommend YHA York and will certainly stay there again when I next visit the area!
