YHA Cape Byron

The absolute worst hostel of all east coast!! I ended up leaving before planned even though I had already paid for the night, that's how bad it was. My sheets were dirty, the room was absolutely disgusting, a mess, with drunk people coming in and out 20 times a night. When I asked to change rooms I was hit with a 'well, you're in a 10er room' as if that was any sort of justification. The staff was super unhelpful and rude. Waste of money, way better options in Byron.

Het hostel wordt gerund door jonge mensen die er zelf verblijven, ze maken tot laat in de nacht lawaai en beginne s morgens vroeg opnieuw. Inbde keuken hangt een blad dat je een boete moet betalen wanneer je je afwas niet afdroogt en wegzet, maar ze doen het zelf niet... Geen idee waar de verantwoordelijke van de hostel was, maar duidelijk ver weg.

Very social and chill atmosphere. The bathrooms need to be cleaned more and showers look horrible. The kitchen is okay put alot of plates are dirty and don’t get properly cleaned by the guests. Some more social activities would be cool, nobody did the yoga when I was there. During Christmas it is way too overpriced but that’s because it’s Byron Bay.

Duschen und Toiletten waren sehr schmutzig und allgemein schlecht. Das Personal war kaum da und auch nicht erreichbar.

Not clean at all! A Bloody tampon in the shower. The showers did not get cleaned for at least 5 days, there was mold and only 3 showers were working for the entire hostel (female). The rooms were sandy and when I begged the receptionist to send out a cleaner they did the day after, but the cleaner didn’t clean. The kitchen was not nice and the fridges were terrible. Should not be okey at all, I don’t think it’s safe to store your food there… terrible experience!

Rooms clean and spacious. Pool was green. Quiet hostel - not much going on. Communal spaces lights turned off at 11pm, so we had to move closer to the tables by the rooms and were then told off for making too much noise near the rooms. Didn’t like you drinking alcohol on-site even though you were allowed to. Makes it hard to meet people. Only had 3 showers per gender, so often queuing to shower.

We verbleven 3 nachten hier in een kamer van 10 meiden. We kwamen er de 2 dag achter dat de deur gewoon open was zonder dat je daar voor een code nodig had. Doorgegeven aan de receptie maar toen we uit checkte was het nog steeds hetzelfde. Eerste dag gingen we douchen en zat een grote pluk haar op de muur en de douches waren in het algemeen heel smerig. Ze werden ook niet schoongemaakt van het pluk haar zat er elke dag nog steeds en het was echt niet te missen. Kluisjes in de keuken; erg vies

Nice spot close to the main shops and sights. We rented a private and it was comfy, although a bit of a weird smell and we didn't love the old carpets. Really appreciated the laundry racks outside every unit and how clean the kitchen was. Some nice hangout spots on the upper levels and by the pool, but not a super social atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. Shared bathroom really needs more hooks/counter space. Staff were friendly but a little lost when we asked them for recommendations

I stayed here with my sister and we were hoping for a social vibe. Unfortunately, the hostel was full of young groups who stuck together and weren't speaking English. Theres no bar or evening hostel activities, so it's difficult to socialise. They shut the social areas at 10pm so it's an awkward quiet vibe in the evening. Nice pool area but they use it for diving lessons in the morning so it's a bit gross. Chill place but could be difficult to meet people as a solo traveller

Amazing stay - it was chill and a bit more lowkey, kitchen is huge and always clean, great location and the Yoga and Pilates had some great instructors too.

Large hostel- nice staff although while I was staying there were several large German / Dutch / danish groups of 18-20 year olds staying which definitely had an effect on the vibe. And in true German fashion they would put their towels down on all the sun loungers round the pool to reserve them and then disappear, which was quite antisocial for other guests. But guess thats just unlucky with the time of my stay. kitchen is huge and has everything you need, staff helpful, room did smell a bit

So i was moved from YHA cape byron to YHA byron bay(!) so this relates to that, but it was a nice hostel all the same, common area had a really nice vibe being all open air upstairs around the pool. I’d been given breakfast vouchers for free by the staff, maybe because I had to move hostel but this was really nice of them, so thank you :)

Room was big but didn’t have much space to put your bags especially if you have suitcases/big backpacks. Lockers provided but weren’t big enough. Swimming pool was nice and common area too. Location was perfect and central

Super nice stay at this hostel! The washrooms were very clean and nice. Our rooms were basic but great! No storage locker for your suitcase in room, only a small one to keep valuables/backpack, so bring a lock if you would like to for your suitcase. Staff were nice when available, but sometimes hard to find. Location was prime. Overall, great stay, would come back!!

Had a wonderful stay here, super clean facilities and friendly staff. They have cool activities everyday too.

Absolutely lovely place, great location only minutes away from beach and rest of town. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, decent sized lockers and a lovely pool. Bathrooms are great, cannot fault. Workers are kind and helpful. Overall great vibe, would definitely visit again.

Excellent location and loved the outdoor spaces around the pool and by kitchen. Toilets were nice, clean and well kept. My only con would be our room (5 bed female room). Charging ports were all in one place in the room, which was inconvenient as a top bunk, and there was very little space to fit everyone’s bags in the room. Apart from this, staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the free boogie boarding/surf boards.

Ganz gutes Hostel

Overall happy with our stay here, we had a private room as there was no dorms available when booking. Private room was nice, 1 double and a single bed, plenty of shared showers and toilets that were clean. Good sized kitchen and eating area. The pool was a nice bonus, although it looked green so didn’t trust to go in. This place has potential to be really social but we found it to not be that socialable. Good location for access to beach and shops, also a cafe next door.
