Rossio Hostel

Unsanitary, Bedbugs, No Response or Refund I got bedbugs during my stay at Rossio Hostel in July 2025. The room was unsanitary, and staff dismissed the issue when I reported it. I left early and requested a refund, but they’ve ignored multiple messages via WhatsApp and email. Zero accountability or empathy. Would not recommend.

Great location, right outside Praca do Rossio with great transport links. Rooms very basic and my locker didn't work properly. Bathroom very small with little privacy and no hooks on shower doors, so not possible to take clothes or valuables in with you. Reception staff were lovely & really helpful. Buffet breakfast is simple but a nice touch.

Run down with mold on walls and ceiling. No elevator. Room on 6th floor. Carried bags up 6 floors! Noisy from street activity. Just not a nice place.

Los único bueno es la ubicación y que pudimos dejar nuestras cosas durante el día después del check out. Las piezas y los baños bastante sucios y pequeños. En el desayuno nos dieron unos panes que tenían hongos y varias cosas se veían en mal estado.

This hostel is in a great location and the staff are lovely however the rooms are dirty, the bathrooms have clear shower doors and are not very private. The rooms are not ventilated well and don’t have aircon, just a fan that sometimes didn’t work. Check out time was nice and late though so that was good!

We left shortly after checking in because there was a dead bedbug in my bed. I have photo proof. So we lost out on the cost of the hostel we did not use and had to book a last minute hotel on top of it. Also the bathrooms were disgusting. Clearly they lack proper ventilation. Honestly every hostel I booked for this trip had either bedbugs or german cockroaches. I've learned my lesson and won't be using hostels or the website any longer.

My flight had a delay of more than 2 hours and I landed at 11.35pm at the airport in Lisbon. When I had known about the delay at my starting airport I had written an email to the hostel at 6.30pm to inform them and I kindly had asked if it would be possible to wait a bit more to do my check in. After landing the risk I got no email and I was afraid to arrive at closed doors and I slept at the airport. This happened on Sunday evening and now it’s already Friday and still no answer. Disappointin...

One of the worst hostels where I slept: totally uncomfortable, the only good thing is the location. The bunk bed is too high and dangerous to get up to it. It's not possible to close the locker, they have only a small safety box that is too small to keep a laptop. The bathroom is totally uncomfortable: hand soap and paper ran out (I asked for refill them, but they ignored my request), the sinks are totally uncomfortable, too low and with a pressure system, few places where to hang our stuff.

I stayed at Rossio for 6 nights. If I hadn't prepayed I would have left by night 2. Bathrooms were unusable. Couldn't get hot water twice and there were 2 toilets for all men in the floor. One or both were clogged every day. Men started using the reception toilet. Sink was also shared and didn't drain properly. Not all beds had curtains, mattresses had a squeaky plastic cover under the sheets, towels provided were old and smelled funky. There is a smoking area near the reception.

For two people, a hotel would have been better value. No all day coffee as advertised and the whole lounge area was locked up until after 8 am - absolutely no considerations for people (there are 4 of us) who had to leave early.

Very good overall, it’s super well located. Breakfast is basic but enough, very calm, and dorms are ok! Didn’t disappoint

The location of the hostel was good and very central but due to that it was really noisy during the night. Unfortunately it was also lacking in other aspects, such as the cleanliness especially in the bathrooms and the maintenance of the facilities. Both of our lockers weren’t working properly, damages for example in the showers were cheaply repaired and the kitchen was lacking in equipment.

Honestly disappointed, they said they had laundry machines and they don’t, the door didn’t lock properly, it was super loud at night and I couldn’t sleep, the bed offered no privacy, I had to climb a ladder to get on the bed that was precarious.

The location was amazing, so close to everything I needed while I was there. The staff were so lovely, and the breakfast included was good aswell! The rooms were nice and managed to stay somewhat cool considering how hot it was. The only downfall I found was the bathroom & showers. The shower layout made it so hard and I felt so uncomfortable having a shower with the top of the glass being see through. Having to push the button every 2 seconds for a shower made it difficult aswell.

I had a really good time at the hostel. I’ve traveled a lot, and I haven’t received such a warm welcome in a long time. Elsa and Simi, you have my heart. Resul and Pedro were so kind and always willing to help and provide useful information. The location is amazing, the breakfast is delicious, and the people are lovely. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you, guys! :)

Estoy haciendo un viaje por muchos países en Europa y en todos me he quedado en Hostels, pero la vibra de Rossio Hostel es increíble, el personal muy amable, cuidan de ti y te dan la importancia que mereces. Ana es la mejor chica que está de Erasmus, todos son amazing 😍😍

Très bien situé pour quelqu'un qui souhaite être dans le centre, avec l'effervescence que cela implique. Une excellente auberge très bien gérée et où tout fonctionne parfaitement

Recomiendo este lugar, precio, ubicación, comodidades, personal, atmósfera. Habitaciones amplias, limpias y con lockers. Mejoraría el sistema de duchas (no es cómodo ni práctico) y sumaría más espacio en el baño, más estantes para apoyar tus pertenencias cuando te lavas los dientes por ejemplo. Brindan desayuno (frutas, tostadas, huevos revueltos, pancakes, yoghurt, cereales, infusiones).

Perfect location, kind staff, a good mix of travelers of all ages. This hostel is a delight!

The location was absolutely phenomenal. We were in the middle of the main square and basically everything in Lisbon was a max 25 minute walk. Staff was super sweet and breakfast was great. Best hostel I’ve ever stayed in!

Chambre un peu poussièreuse, mais lit confortable et dortoir calme. Seulement deux toilettes et l'un d'eux a été bouché et l'eau avait recouvert le sol, donc impossible d'accéder aux douches et WC. Mais personnel très agréable et bon petit déjeuner. L'emplacement est parfait, au centre ville et sécurisé.

El desayuno muy bueno. Relación calidad precio aceptable. El baño era horroroso. Solo funcionaba un w.c. y estaba todo el suelo y las duchas con suciedad y moho. Las camas estaban bien y limpias, pero el suelo de la habitación estaba sucio. La atención del personal es lo mejor.
