I really can't recommend it any more.
Very clean and comfort beds, but not a very nice place when you want to meet new people. No area, no activities etc.
Wasn’t the best value for money - the private room seemed quite old - the door/lock didn’t feel very secure, the curtains didn’t cover the whole window and the bathroom door doesn’t close from the outside
Sorry we were dissapointed. The hostle has so good reviews and we dont understand why. We paid for a privat room for a Hostel a lot of Money (120€ for 2 nights) so my ecpectation have been high. For that , what we got it was not worth it. I got much better Hostels for much less money. The room wasn't really clean, the forniture was old and the bed made a lot of sounds. Even I didn't felt the Hostel atmosphare. With a bit of more effort, I think it could be a really good Hostel
When I visited they were still doing some works in the hostel. The room was nice and clean and staff was very nice but I was the only guest and the area around was quite dead - it was also low season. I’m sure it has changed since then :)
Ganz schickes Hostel. Ich fand es etwas teuer. Als ich da war, fand ich es nicht ganz so Social, jeder war in Grüppchen da und wollte sich nicht connecten. Es gibt zwar Aktivitäten um Leute kennenzulernen, das wird von den Gästen leider kaum angenommen. Die Klimaanlage führte bei fast allen in unserem Zimmer zu Erkältungen. Das ist natürlich ärgerlich, aber man hat eine Klimaanlage :) Lage top. Hostel sauber.
Ganz schickes Hostel. I found it a bit expensive. When I was there, I didn't find it quite so social, everyone was in Grüppchen there and didn't want to connect. While there are activities to meet people, this is unfortunately hardly accepted by the Guests. The air conditioning led to colds in almost everyone in our room. This is of course annoying, but you have an air conditioning :) Top location. Hostel clean.
I enjoyed the stay at the hostel, it’s really pretty and just 30 seconds to Kabalana beach - perfect for surfing! Anyways I think it’s a little bit overpriced.
The staff were fantastic and the coffee shop was really cute, however, the owner was really unfriendly and at points made me feel quite awkward when browsing the options in the cafe. The hostel itself smells bad and needs to be painted or to have a deep clean. The toilet in the dorm also didn’t flush which, as you can imagine was really annoying and unhygienic. Not the most sociable either, as you can join a WhatsApp when you check in but nothing was posted on there my entire stay.
My 6 dorm room and staff was very nice. Only concern the doors couldn’t lock, we didn’t have a key. I would suggest to improve that for travelers to feel safer.
The hostel is quite dark and the rooms feel like a cave… kinda smelly and warm. The cafe that is located in the hostel is super nice and cute. It’s like a 20 minute walk to the centre but only 1 minute to the beach. The hostel is not very social, but they have a nice coworkingspace!

absolutely incredible hostel. great location, just steps away from a popular beach. great facilities, wifi, AC, the beds are soo comfy and the staff is amazing! i highly recommend
Michael was really helpful and the vibe of the restaurant is really good. It is also next to Kabalana beach, very good for chilling and surfing. Locker spaces can be improved.

Esta muy bien, limpio, enfrente tienes la playa, la cafeteria del hostal esta muy bien!
It's very nice, clean, in front you have the beach, the hostel cafeteria is very nice!
Best hostel I stayed in the whole of my trip to Sri Lanka. Ended up coming back 2 more times. Run by a lovely bunch of Sri Lankan people, only a few meters away from the beach. I loved the spacious concrete bunks, super comfy and very private. Top cleanliness in the bathroom, I felt at home that's why I came back. It's also a digital nomad place and attracts a not so young crowd which I liked. Cafe is a bit expensive but very good coffee and food, option for good food at the café next door also...
Really nice and clean place! it was quite empty and unsocial during my stay but i guess thats because it was off-season
The room was very nice. The man who was there looking after the property was so lovely. He got up at 2:30am to make sure we got our taxi to the safari. He was amazing throughout our stay. The dog is lovely too
Lovely hostel, really pretty and clean. Lovely cafe on site and right by the beach. It’s a bit out from the main bit of Ahangama but still restaurants close by. Not very social but a lovely chilled hostel
Best place ever!! The place is beautiful, super clean and everyone is really friendly (guests and staff) it just feels like home. Location is great too- right at the beach. Can’t recommend it enough!

Over all fine, booked a private room for 2. Had all the basics you could expect.
Really enjoyed my stay at Mellow. Perfect hostel to chill. Food is amazing and just across the street is a lovely beach! Highly recommend

Amazing hostel with a nice location in Ahangama and nice activities offered. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. Would definitely recommend the 4-dorm and not the 8-dorm. We stayed in each for one night and it's a totally different experience in comfort and hygiene and atmosphere! Wouldn't give 10/10 if we only stayed in the 8-dorm tbh
Excellent atmosphere and the spaces make it easier. Very good location if you want to focus on surfing
