Terrible.
The eveningshift receptionist was good. But that lady in the morning was very rude. She doesn't know how to behave with guests. After checkout, we requested for kitchen access for 1 minute to fill water as it was raining and we couldn't go to stores. Still, she didn't listen
Location is great for the train and bus stations but not for anything you want to see. Tram stop outside is handy but disrupts sleep. There's no social area (the reception feels like a waiting room) and the layout means you don't bump into anyone coming or going. Room was clean and pleasant.
No security felt very unsafe we left early
Emailed me at 5pm the day of my reservation that they didn’t have a bed for me
not happy about this stay. palmers lodge have a higher price than most of the hostels in the area, but doesnt live up to the price at all. i got a tiny room with four beds in a basement with a mouldy, smelly bathroom. it was so small i didnt really fint a place for my stuff. the small window didnt help much as we had to close it at night because of the deafening sounds from the traffic outside. staff wasnt very welcoming either. i would recommend going to a different hostel.
It’s not a real hostel and has absolutely no atmosphere…
The hostel is a bit far from the city center ( around 20 min) but close to the station and the bus station, which is practical. How ever, it is just bordering a street with the tramway, which is very noisy, and goes until 11 or so and starts at 5. Each time the tram ran by, there was a mini - earthquake in the room, plus thundering noise. The room was in the basement floor and was very humid, there was mold in the bathroom with only a small window just on street level. And not cheap.

The location is great, literally 6 minute walk from the train station. However, the bathroom doors have a peek-through section where anyone can see into it. There is no provided shampoo or body wash, which I would be fine with if they had a shelf in the shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Read the reviews carefully. Rooms facing the street are not good for sleeping at all. The trams outside are so loud that no earbuds can help, and you can feel how the whole house vibrates when they pass by. And yes, the noise happens even late at night and in the early morning. No one goes to a hostel for a perfect night's sleep but the owners should NOT rent these rooms out, that is thievery. Staff was amazing though.
It’s very basic. Also it’s right next to the tram station so it’s so loud and the room shakes which makes it hard to sleep. Bunks are also very unstable as not attached to the wall so it shakes a lot. It’s fine for a couple nights for the price.
I had a great stay. The staff were very helpful, especially the lady (I forgot to ask her name) who not lonly told me how to get to Maksimir Park but also gave me a metro ticket. And yes, I did find the Sun and 4 of the Planets!
It was very handy for the train station. However, the staff were not the friendliest, and weren’t very accommodating. It smelt strongly of smoke. The blinds didn’t fully cover the window and one of the plug sockets was pulled out and unusable. We stayed in a private room with an en-suite which was nice, so we aren’t sure what the dorms would be like. It’s quite loud at night because it’s right next to the road. It didn’t feel too safe for female travellers.
Great location, very difficult to sleep due to tram line, lights, traffic etc go all night past 4am we ended up covering the window to be able to sleep, bathroom door is see through / frosted glass with clear glass panels - no privacy, clean, the team member we spoke to most often did not make us feel welcome, seemed very frustrated by us asking basic questions about check in and laundry etc
the cleaning woman is so kind
The location is fantastic, staff are very friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable (though no curtain or privacy screen of any kind. There is also a fairly spacious locker for each guest. The primary negative is the doors to the toilet and shower room have frosted glass, but with slits of clear glass where someone can quite easily look in. The front door was also usually unlocked, but a member of staff would be sat at reception. Often there would be no staff, and the door was still unlock...
it was a great stay. with a perfect location
I was able to make make arrangements with the staff about several things as listed below: (1) get parking spot even before my stay in hostel (charged additionally, according to price list) (2) work remotely (with my laptop) from hostel even before my stay in hostel (3) converted room couch into sleeping unit. The only downside of my room is lacking a heating unit (radiator) in the bathroom, but not a big deal, it was warm enough. Thank you, Palmers Lodge for everything! I will certainly try to...
Clean and good location but the room was very noisy with the sound of the trams and there was no curtain.
This place was booked on a whim as it was closest to the bus stop at night. Very clean and comfortable, but I found one of the front desk male staff to be extremely unhelpful and almost annoyed I was requesting help. However, the other man and woman were super helpful! Did not see anyone else staying in hostel, it was very quiet but was nice to have a calm portion of my trip.
Lovely room, private twin en suite. Lulled to sleep by passing trams.
Stayed in the three person apartment and loved it. Very clean and modern. If you have the windows closed and air conditioning running you can barely hear the tram. I didn’t care for the area as it was filled with graffiti but I felt safe walking to the bus stop.
Nice little hostel. Close to train station and bus teminal, little walk to old town. Pretty clean and well equipped. The rooms are all in the basement/ Souterrain and the tram runs right next to it so it’s pretty loud - also at night.
Okay if you need somewhere to sleep for one night but wouldn’t stay a longer period.
Nothing to complain. - Nice room equiped with everything you need, even for a longer stay. (we only stayed for 1 night). Windows and sound insulation could be better. - It gets quite noisy from the trams out on the street.
I chose it because of the location, very close to the station. But it:s surprisingly good. The trams right outside the form window are noisy. That's the only negative.
A very small hostel so very chill and no atmosphere but it’s fine if that’s what you’re after. Rooms were small but good, wish they had nicer bedding as it felt a bit old. I was staying in the basement so the trams were loud. The kitchen area was nice and big for such a small hostel. Good that it was located so close to the station.
Very friendly staff.
