Bunkyard Udaipur

not recommended

Kush was very helpful and we appreciated his tips for Udaipur. However, overall we were unfortunately disappointed with our stay after reading so many positive reviews online. There was no one else staying in the hostel so no atmosphere at all. We did not have any hot water (and at times not even any water at all) and the WiFi was not working for the entirety of our stay. Please note that the hostel is also not at the location shown on the map (it is above Zostel). This seemed dodgy.

Strangely quiet hostel a little away from the centre. The staff all appeared to be staying in the one room with the guests which was odd. Moved to another hostel and this was much nicer. Not the best, but does have a cool roof top.

My stay was overall fair. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the location was quite good. However, I was asked to pay an additional amount when using my credit card for a partial payment, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, the bunks weren’t cleaned daily during my 4-day stay. Otherwise, it was a decent experience overall.

The staff were good, the rooftop is epic and the people we met here were lovely! However, I would strongly advise against the 9-bed dorm option, each bunk has its own plug/light/fan which is great but none of the lockers correspond to the bunks and there’s no keys for them, which means that unless you get there first you most likely have to dump your stuff at the side of the very small room (everyone’s was literally piling up on the second night which made it super difficult to access anythi...

Pretty bad experience here as staff had checked me in and moved my bed when I arrived late at night, with someone else sleeping in it. Consequently all my belongings were scattered all around the hostel, staff also told me I couldn’t go into my room to collect my things. The room was dirty with empty bottles everywhere.

Hostel is in a quiet location. Easy to get to the old town and main sights. A bit far to walk as a solo female traveller. The room was clean and had a good shower. The actual hostel though was a huge let down. The upstairs area isn’t there! The pictures show a great hang out spot this is NOT the case. Very disappointing I wouldn’t book if you wanting to meet over travellers! Laundry was very expensive.

Very kind and avail staff, very good vibe even though it was hard to find anyone in the hostel because of the season. Though, clean room and in general, clean hostel. Highly recommended!!

Great hostel, the private room was spacious and clean. The location is perfect, super close to the lakes and walkable to the palace. The restaurant was closed when we were there which was a shame as the view is amazing.

Great place! Food was good, and the rooftop is amazing. The staff was helpful, and helped us get to the hostel when our bus stranded us in the middle of the highway during the night.

Nice location, a few mins walk from the city center. Fantastic view and a nice dorm. The owner/manager is a suuuper nice guy to talk to and is definitely a reason for me to rate this hostel pretty high!

What a beautiful hostel with the best view of all of udaipur. I stayed in both the private room and the dorm, with were clean and super comfortable. It has a great location and is perfect to meet other travelers. The best part of the hostel was Vaibhav. I have never been to a hostel where the manager is so helpful and always available. He gave me a list of things to do in the city and was very quick to respond to any of my questions. He makes the hostel even better than it already is. Thank you

I had an amazing stay here! I show up a bit sick and Vaibhav went above and beyond to help and check in on me until I recovered. A literal life saver! Once I was moving again, staff was super helpful with tips and info. Room was clean and comfy and the rooftop view was the best place to watch the sunset and everything was in walking distance. Thank you so much!

Bunkyard is probably the best hostel I've stayed at in India! It's clean, comfortable and the location is perfect. it also has the best view over de lakes and city. The owner was really helpful with recommendation of places as well as transportation. Would come back next time!

Hostel was great and had a great atmosphere. No lift so you have to get your steps in for the beautiful rooftop view. Hostel food was a bit expensive and the door to the female dorm didn’t close properly so had to sleep with the door ajar… Beds were comfy, each fitted with a fan.

The best hostel I ever stayed in India! the staff and especially the manager are super chill and attentive. I stayed 4 nights in the private rooms it's absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. The roof top is outstanding it's the tallest building in Udaipur so you get a pretty sick view.

Best rooftop area and sunset view in town. The host is really nice and responsive. It’s a 5 minute walk from the centre so a bit more peaceful and a break from the honking. Very clean. Chilled vibe in the evening where you can have a couple beers. Dinner menu is a bit pricey but breakfast is good value and loads of restaurants nearby.

The dorms are small for 9 people, we were not really comfortable so we asked for an upgrade to a private room, which was absolutely perfect!! The staff was really nice, Vaibhav in particular, he was always there and always online on whatsapp as well to answer our requests and help us know what to see and not miss in Udaipur. The rooftop is amazing!

A great hostel for all travellers. Best view of the lakes and perfect for sunrise and sunset. Would highly recommend. The staff were extremely hospitable and welcoming, sharing tips and tricks to navigating Udaipur. The hostel is at the top of a wee hill and has plenty of steps up to the rooms and rooftop (with no lift) so would not recommend to those less nimble. Overall, a great stay in a great city!

Very good stay here. Amazing staff and very nice rooftop. Ordering food in the cafe is a bit pricey and unorganized. They are working on making it better. 8 bed dorm feels a bit cramped and there are not enough hangers. 6 bed dorm was much nicer in comparison.

Amazing hostel! Very clean and safe, and it has the highest view in udaipur so it’s great for relaxing and seeing sunset

Incredible time. Hands down the best hostel I’ve been to in India. Great amenities, but the people (Vaibhav & Ashish) are what makes this place magical. Chose to spend holi here and was the right decision :)
