Not very nice, small beds and very very old.
Probably the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The room had no window just a big hole in the wall so absolutely zero sound barrier from the busy street outside. The shower barely trickled and the toilet didn’t really flush. There’s no AC, just a tiny fan that makes no difference with the lack of window and the WiFi doesn’t reach the room. We had to find a hotel at 11pm and move because it was so unbearable. Do not stay here.
Worst hostal ever, don’t stay here if you are looking for something comfortable. I booked a private room and the bed had body marks, you could see thru the door frame, also the bathroom was very small I couldn’t even seat in the toilet. Also, cockroaches and ants appeared in the bathroom. Look for somewhere else to stay. The only good thing about it, is its location near to the Main Street, however, it doesn’t make up for everything else. Above that, they charged me for the whole stay

DO NOT STAY HERE!! The only good thing is the location. It is filthy dirty, bathroom hasn’t been cleaned in months. Woke up covered in bites from the bed. No A/C just fans blowing round dirty, hot air. You get warned that the dogs bite. I stayed one night. Never again.
Unsure of the hype of this place, booked as it had such good reviews :/ floor’s extremely dirty was like it hadn’t been swept in years. Bathroom stunk. And to top it off had a scorpion crawl on me in my sleep. Expensive for what it is, was glad I only booked 1 night. disappointed.
Very bad experience.30€/bed in a dorm I booked it anyways only because it was highly recommended. Absolutely not worth it:The 8 beds dorm doesn't have lockers for fitting the full backpack.The door of th dorm cannot close. Zero pricacy between the beds, is like sleeping next to strangers, 30cm of distance between a bed and another and regular beds in the middle of th room with no curtains and with smelly pillows.On top of this you sleep with no air conditioning with crazy heat and dirty bathro...
Ridiculously overpriced. The place doesn’t have a reception and asking something to staff, simple things like checking in, looked like asking for a big favor. I found them unfriendly and not helpful at all. The place has a sort of hippie vibe, which would be fine if they charged hippie prices. However is super expensive and everything looks old, dirty and smell bad. The dorm is a dump and unbearably hot. Don’t expect any privacy, I couldn’t even properly lock the bathroom. Weird v...

If you’re in Puerto Escondido you have to stay here!! We were so well looked after - everyone is so kind and friendly. The place is beautiful and decorated with wonderful artwork. Free coffee in the morning as well as a cafe right next door- what more could you want? Thank you so much for having us!! We had the best time 💕💕 xxx

Établissement très bien placé, la cuisine est pratique. Très difficile de dormir car pas de AC, et tout petit ventilo … quand je me suis réveillée le matin il y avait un chien dans la chambre. Pas très agréable, et reflète un peu la propreté et le soin du lieu
Very difficult to sleep because there is no air conditioning, and very small ventilation ... when I woke up in the morning there was a dog in the room. not very pleasant, and reflects a little bit the cleanliness and care of the place
The private room was comfortable. The price and location were excellent! 😊
Lovely hostel in a great location in la punta that was close enough to everything but not super loud at night. The staff were great and super helpful though there was not much of a social atmosphere so we did not really meet many other travelers while we were there. Our room was perfect for us even with the bathroom being tiny and we absolutely loved getting to hang out on the roof!
Honestly loved it here. Really chill bit if you get to know the guys who hang around they’re like family and will treat you as such. Clean and felt super safe. Will definitely be back love you guys!!
The bathroom, general paintwork etc looks like it was done by an amateur. Did not feel clean. The towel was so old it looked pretty disgusting and had holes in it. However the private room was big, the welcome was very hospitable and the location is very close to the beach.
I stayed in Akumal for 5 days and the location was one of the things I liked the most, it is literally a 3-minute walk from a part of the most relaxed and bohemian punta’s zone. It is also very close to a supermarket where you can find absolutely everything. The staff is very attentive and they definitely have very good local recommendations for food, places and more (quality/price) definitely maintains the essence of a very Mexican and artistic hostel
Lovely roof terrace, good value private room. The fact it has a great location means that it can be quite loud at night. But overall, would deffo recommend.
PLEASE READ: I must admit, this was not my first time at Hostal Akumal. While there are likely other (more expensive) hostels with better internet and air conditioning, Akumal is closer to the remaining roots of La Punta and a great time. The best skaters, artists and musicians hang out there and it is always a blast. There is a great community (most of the time), affordable prices and has a great birds eye hangout on the roof. Akumal is highly recommended and people constantly return.
El sitio es muy original, lleno de arte, me gustó mucho el balance entre extranjeros y mexicanos, una convivencia muy linda y divertida, me tocó un evento de músic jam.
The site is very original, full of art, I really liked the balance between foreigners and Mexicans, a very nice and fun coexistence, I touched a music jam event.
Great centric hostel with wonderful atmosphere. Thr only disadavantage is the cafe on the territory of the hostel which turns on the music at 7.40 every morning.
Dirty place, great location
Beste hostel in Puerto Escondido. Derde keer dat ik hier verblijf. De mensen zijn zo vriendelijk, voelt je echt thuis hier! Bed (womans dorm) is groot en comfortabel. Je bent binnen 1 minuut op het strand en middenin het bruisende la Punta. Je kunt chillen op de rooftop of spelletjes spelen in de common area beneden. Grote aanrader! :)
Best hostel in Puerto Escondido. third time staying here. the people are so friendly, you feel really at home here! bed (women's dorm) is big and comfortable. you are within 1 minute on the beach in the middle of the bustling la Punta. i can chillen on the rooftop or spelletjes spelen in the common area below. great aanrader! :)
Very cool hostel - my first choice in Puerto. Chilled vibe, cool people, good music and nice common areas to hang around and socialize. I liked the mix of Mexicans and Foreigners so it's not only English speaking but Spanish too. Location couldn't be better, right next to the beach you can walk barefoot there and everything one might need is around the corner. Great staff all cool people. I could sleep well in the dorm I don't need no AC fans are plenty there. Will come back.
Perfect perfect location right in the middle of everything happening in Brisa’s zicatela. I only stayed for a night but the beds were so spacious and comfy especially for a hostel!
No social vibes, no atmosphere sadly. The hostel is dirty and run down, no social events or anything are organized. The only advantage is the great location and cheap price but unless you just need a place to sleep you are better off staying somewhere else.
Favorite hostel in Puerto, perfect location, nice rooftop to the Main Street, close to the beach but not noisy so you can rest and be connected to town. Everyone from staff is extremely kind and you have a feeling of home, good dinners, social activities and music ! Maxi gives best recommendations and he’s always helping and Pipa is really kind and is always asking how you feel and inviting to dinners or events. All the volunteers,it’s such a good vibe I’ve been living here for a long time...
das Zimmer und Bad waren leider sehr dreckig und eng (ich hatte ein Mehrbettzimmer). Zudem ist es sehr warm und es gibt nur Ventilatoren.
The room and bathroom were unfortunately very dirty and cramped (I had a Multi-Bedroom), and it's very warm and there are only Fans.
