The staff act like they don’t want you there. The shower, sink and toilet all broke in a 2 night stay. I ordered coffee, waited 30 mins, asked where it was and she said ‘I forgot to tell you I can’t make it’. Asked ‘why are you still here’ after someone’s first night and said ‘one hour left’ an hour before checkout. Location great tho
I asked to change room (many spare beds) due to noisy and disrespectful roomies (they were smoking near the beds), the staff called the manager who refused, they told me they would talk to these guys and that I also should talk to them if I wanted the dorm to be quiet. If the issue remained then the next day I could change room but pay for it. They never talked to them as they kept the same behavior and I ended up feeling stressed and not at ease. Is that how you want your female guests to feel?
The owners of the hostel are unbelievably rude to the staff and volunteers!! A very nice hostel in general! The volunteers were great and very helpful. Top surf instructors!

No tiene zonas comunes suficientes. El costo no amerita lo poco que ofrece el hostal
Was a good hostel but quite overpriced for the standard you receive. I recommend getting a cheaper hostel as the conditions will be the same and you pay for the surfboard separately anyways so might as well save some money
+ Endroit neuf et propre et bien situé
- Pas vraiment d'espace commun pour chill à part 1 hamac et 3 tables et chaises, il y a une terrasse mais avec seulement 2 chaises et une toute petite table. Le personnel n'est pas toujours souriant et acceuillant côté surf camp, rien à dire en ce qui concerne la réception. Faible pression dans les douches. La première fois que j'y suis allé l'expérience s'est très bien passée alors j'y suis retourné. Mais la deuxième fois elle était moins réussite pour les raisons évoquées précédemment. Côté surf camp, j'ai loué une planche pour une heure. Le leash s'est cassé dans un wipeout, donc pas ma faute ça peut arriver. Le patron m'a dit que c'était quand même de ma faute et que je devais payer et rembourser le leash. Je trouve ça malhonnête car ce n'est pas la conséquence d'un manque de soin de ma part. Je doute qu'eux prennent soins de leur matériel... En témoigne leurs lycras moisies et déchirés. Je pense que 19 fois sur 20 l'expérience au Mendihuaca Surf Camp se passe sans problème (même si j'ai eu des retours similaires d'une autre personne) mais la fois où il y a un problème il est mal géré et l'expérience est gâchée.

I would not recommend staying here, there are many other better and well priced options on Mendihuaca beach. Generally the hostel was clean but bedrooms are quite hot. The highlight was definitely the surf lesson and the lovely instructors. Unfortunately the dorms have bed bugs and when I asked the staff to change the sheets they were very reluctant and insisted that the bites must be from ants. I had itchy bites for days after staying there and many other guests had similar bites.

+ El ambiente es muy tranquilo, el lugar muy limpio y la comunidad de Mendihuaca es increíble. Especialmente Ana, la voluntaria que trabaja de noche fue muy amable
- Los botones de la ducha de los baños deben arreglarse para que el agua salga constante y no solo mientras los sostienes aoretados

Nice hostel for who is looking a chill place next to the beach. Be sure you take a bed with a small ventilator on top of it otherwise is too hot. Kelly super sweet receptionist!

beautiful hostel in such a cool location. skip the larger hostels and stay here. adventure down the beach to the bigger hostels when you want a party.
