The bathrooms were dirty. There was no ambience and the staff and crowd were very cliquey. Didn't get a good vibe. Got charged $30 for missing key even though I left the key in the reception. Have emailed them multiple times. No staff at the reception when I left so if it goes missing I am not sure how I am supposed to be responsible. It's been a month and they still haven't removed the charge. The rooms also smelt of feet.
Check in was difficult because of the tight check in area. The layout of the building means that people need to walk around reception to go the bathroom or kitchens. All the stairs were confusing and the bunks were not as nice as most Haka Houses. Someone was sleeping the kitchen/lounge one morning which was annoying and the dishes were washed not put away a lot, and there were dirty towels in all the bathrooms. It was just not as nice as all the other Haka Houses and it was more expensive.
The layout of the property was confusing, 2 kitchens and dining rooms but still not too social, a lot of tight corridors and weird bathroom placement?the beds are comfy but the pillows are quite thin but no issue with getting another one. Good location, nice staff
Disappointed that this place cost just as much as the new renovated haka lakefront. The building is super old and didn’t feel very clean. When I stripped my bed my duvet was stained a disgusting amount of yellow. Beds were uncomfortable and loud, pillow was less than paper thin. Right in front of construction too.
Very unclean. Construction in front of building impacted the atmosphere significantly. Outdoor seating was lacking.
Food was terrible, to get there you have to walk up a huge hill, staff was very hard to communicate too, beds were very uncomfortable
Room was comfortable however this hostel is loud. They must be thin walls because you can hear everything going on at night. Unfortunately the layout isn't ideal in that the kitchen is upstairs and was above our room. We could hear everything from footsteps, people talking, furniture moving, cutlery, and water running through pipes. Maybe we were just unlucky with other people being super active and loud late at night. The bathrooms also weren't very clean with bins overflowing & dirty toilets.
Very tight rooms, the bed was really squeeky and hard to get into the top bunk. Bathrooms were not stocked with clean towels/bathmats.
A fine and nice hostel, had what I needed, but very small close dorms.

good solid stay
Gutes Hostel, wie alle Haka Houses. In QT scheint aber nichts los zu sein. Sehr sauber, gute Betten. Wenn man einfach chillen will, super. Socializen eher schwierig
The bed was comfy and the facilitates where decent although some of the showers had water pooling. The kitchen was good and had all the essentials, security was great with card access on each room and the front door.
Schöner Ausblick aus der Küche:)
A really nice hostel in a good spot, great kitchen facilities but only 2 showers and 2 toilets for the bit I was in meant you had to wait around quite a bit. Other than that I loved my stay here
I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it. Its one of the cheapest hostels in Queenstown and its very clean, the staff are great and the general vibe between travelers is friendly and respectful. They have two kitchens and lots of table space and places to sit. They also have lots of recommendations for restaurants, bars, and tours. And they even have some discount vouchers for a couple bars. I stayed in the 4 person room and I would stay here again :)
Really great staff, very friendly and helpful. Bed was super comfy and felt very safe. Thanks so much!
A fine and nice hostel, had what I needed, but very small close dorms.
Nice enough. Very much lacks atmosphere, there are a lot of staff who are cliquey and hang around in the common areas not talking to others. 10pm quiet time not well enforced. Nice enough facilities.

Great value for money! We had our own little cabin. I was pleasantly surprised! Definitely recommend!
Beds were comfy. Cozy vibes. Staff were great; especially Skye and Brooke.
It’s not as “new” as some other haka houses, but everything works well, is clean and the location is nice:) kitchen is big enough too. Depends much on yourself if you want to make friends, which obviously makes sense. Overall, good value for money:)
Good location for town, buses and Queenstown Hill. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. Only downside was that the room was very small and cramped with broken lockers, and not much room to move around.
very nice, not so much more than that. The bed was only ok
I had the best stay at Haka House! This place is so close to town and is nearby lots of tourist activities such as biking and paragliding. The Staff (Skye, James, Brooke and Theo) were so hospitable and lovely to talk to. I would definitely stay here again. :)
La cuisine n’est pas bien équipée. Juste 2 verres trouvable. Notre chambre à côté de la cuisine avec des murs très fins. Donc on se couchait avec les derniers et on se réveillait avec les premiers. Toilettes et douche dans la même pièce. Pas pratique
The beds are set up pretty nicely and the common spaces are good, but the automated check in is so impersonal and the staff working there seemed out out to point me in the direction of my room.
The hostel wasnt well maintained. The light near the bed didnt work. There was no storage service or laundry, which seems basic.
Good hostel. Nice lounge area at the top. Bedroom lacked natural light and quite tight space wise. Kitchen was lovely and had a nice balcony.
