+ Close to the city's main attractions
- We were put in a 6 bed dorm. We had 3 children with us. It was directly opposite Edinburghs largest bar and beer garden, that was open u til 3am and had revellers outside until 4:30am. We had asked immediately upon noticing if it was possible to move to another room, even if just for 4 people but were told it was full. It wasn't from what other guests told us. We had asked to speak to a manager and were given a name but no contact was made. Despite mo sleep etc we were told it would be £8 each per breakfast and approx £4 for each piece of luggage for storage. Toilet doors in communal units do not close completely. They seem fitted poorly and anyone washing teeth can view tjose on toilets. At least in our block. Zero empathy or consideration from most staff. I have left my number and am awaiting a call back still.

- Que yo tenía contratado el desayuno el horario del desayuno es 7:00 a 11:00 a las 9:00 fui al desayuno y no había nada estuve tiempo pará ver si lo reponían y nada muy mal

- I arrived and just wanted to leave, mold on the walls and beds whose screws were loose. I couldn't stay and booked another accommodation. Sry cowgate hostel

- La calefacción estaba en modo infierno. Las ventanas no abren asi que el olor a muerto era insoportable (incluso en las escaleras, que son muchas!). El chico del checkin tenía la peor de las ondas. La habitación y las sábanas estaban sucias. El baño sucio y todas las trabas rotas. Por la noche queda la luz del pasillo prendida y las puertas tiene ventanas asi que entra la luz. La ubicación está bien pero está en la calle de la fiesta por lo que la música a la noche fue constante. Éramos dos personas y nos serón solo una tarjeta. Y por último, nos hicieron el checkin y nuestras camas estaban en uso, deberían poner carteles o algo de las reglas del hostel

- Everything! It was dingy and dirty! The room smelled bad! Linen were stained. The lockers were all broken. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. A man was at the sink in the shared bathroom doing things to himself! My only mistake was not calling the police right then and there

- Bathrooms reeked of urine smell never cleaned. Bed rooms had a nasty smell which was unbearable.

- Reservamos dos camas en la misma habitación y cuando llegamos nos pusieron en habitaciones separadas, falta de empatía y consideración. Mala calidad de cama y baño. No lo recomendaría para nada

Op de website staat bij "faciliteiten" dat er een keuken is. Die is er niet, dat vind ik erg misleidend. Andere hostels in Edinburgh hebben dat wel. Van het personeel zijn sommigen wel aardig, maar de Schotse vriendelijkheid die ik gewend ben-van al mijn eerdere bezoeken aan Schotland- ontbreekt volledig, er heerst vooral een zakelijke sfeer. De privé kamer had niet eens een stoeltje of een rekje in de douche en het hostel ligt tegenover een bar die íedere avond tot 1u harde muziek buiten draa...
Muy buena ubicación. Un tanto ruidosa pero muy divertido. Los baños estaban arreglandose entonces había que irse a los de las habitaciones del lado. Los lockers eran muy faciles de vulnerar, quizás habría que tener mas cuidado. Aún así disfrute la estadía.
Très bien mais l'établissement en face est très bruyant le soir (foot, concert)

Perfect for a trip to Edinburgh right in the heart of Cowgate. Friendly staff. Has everything you need for a short stay. Wouldn't recommend for more than a couple of nights unless you are on a partying trip - no lounge / comfortable space other than the reception area, and sleep will be impacted by the Three Sisters bar over the road.
L’hostel est en face d’un pub hyper bruyant jusque tard dans la nuit. Il n’y a pas d’insonorisation des portes ou pièces. La chambre que nous occupions était sale. On voit qu’il n’y a aucun entretien, la peinture est sale, Je ne conseillerais pas ce logement.
The hostel is across from a pub which is hyper noisy until late at night. there is no soundproofing of the doors or rooms. the room we occupied was sold. you can see that it has no maintenance, the paint is for sale, I would not recommend this accommodation.

+ Basic, but clean. A bit too expensive.
- Other than the bed, there is nothing else. Not even a chair to sit on or a desk to put a cup of coffee.

The building echoes quite badly, so we could hear every door open and close, any coughing and any noise in general - it sounded like it was inside our room even though it wasn’t. The bathrooms need a fan to deal with humidity. The top bunk of our bunk bed was very hard to climb up and down, one side was a wall and not a railing which made it difficult to grip, and it needed one more step down to the ground.
+ - Top Lage, direkt in der City - tolles Frühstück - Frauenschlafsaal und die Sanitäranlagen nur für Frauen mit Zimmerkarte zugänglich - Steckdose und Licht am Kopfende des Bettes, auch im oberen Bett - Bett war bequem
- - Personal war so semi freundlich - Sanitäranlagen rochen fürchterlich nach alten Urin, wie unter einer Brücke - es gab keine Nachtruhe, jeder konnte kommen und gehen wann er mochte. Das hat zu einer sehr unruhigen Nacht geführt.

+ As a solo traveller I felt very comfortable at this hostel. It was perfectly situated for the centre of Edinburgh being only a short 10 minute walk away. The room was clean with an en suite, shared by 4. I never had to wait for the loo or a shower so it was fine. The shower was ok and hot water was available on both times I used it.
- My room was directly opposite a noisy bar, that played loud music until 1am. That said I did manage to sleep but perhaps would take earplugs next time or try for a room at the rear of the property. It was a Saturday so I guess it was to be expected.
