White House Guest House

Nach vielen Backpack-Erfahrungen haben wir noch nie ein Hostel-Zimmer erlebt, das in einem solch schlechten Zustand gewesen ist. Es kam uns vor, als ob im Zimmer schon seit Wochen nicht mehr geputzt worden ist. Alles war sehr dreckig, überall gab es Ameisen und andere kleine Tierchen. In der Dusche und in der Toilette hatte es Haare und andere Überbleibsel. Das Zimmer war extrem feucht. Die Bettwäsche und die Handtücher waren ebenfalls sehr dreckig. Definitv nicht empfehlenswert..

The place was well located to go for Adam’s peak but it was truly dirty. The bedsheets, the towels, the bathroom and the floor were not clean at all. In one of the room there were no mosquito net. And the restaurant of the hotel was quite expensive.

Hostel nice and close to Adam’s Peak. They have a large filling breakfast which is ideal pre-hike. Unfortunately the dorm room smelt musty and damp, the beds were disgusting and sheets stained, the blankets they provided were half eaten by moths and felt greasy. Not entirely sure they’ve been washed for a long while (maybe because it’s off season). My sheets had not been changed as the pillowcase smelt incredibly strongly of another man. Bathroom was okay but strong smell coming out of dra...

The host was welcoming and helpful, but sometimes too much. He would stay with us while we were eating, and just chilling. I wouldn't go back to this guest house, if I was to go again to the Adams Peak. :)

Staff was very very friendly, but it was off season I think so it was very quiet. Which means that the bed linnen has been in there for a while, it was a bit moist and moldy , and the mosquito net smelled.. Location was great though

Overall we had a good stay at White House. The staff is very kind and helpful. The food is super delicious. I recommend Kottu! In the room I missed a few things like a doorknob in the bathroom. It was really hard to open the door sometimes. It was a good price performance ratio!

Great spot to stay before climbing Adam’s Peak. Clean and spacious rooms, 1500 rupees for a buffet. Unreal views towards Adam’s Peak if you are lucky. Similar to other visitors we had issues with laundry coming out a bit wet even with 24 hours notice. Otherwise a perfect stay!

Nice place in perfect location, just a few minutes walk to the start of adams peak. The host was also really nice and had some handy tips. Going for a swim in the nearby river after the walk was very refreshing.

The staff is super nice, perfect location for adam’s peak hike, the food is delicious. Great hostel.

White House is a special and tranquil place and the owner is very kind. I extended my stay from 1 night to 3 nights to enjoy the quiet and nature before moving on to more touristic places. Down side- on my departure day I asked for bfast and laundry to be ready early so that I had plenty of time to make it on the train in Hatton. Both were prepared very late which caused me to miss the train. So just be clear about your departure time if you need to make it to public transport on time.

amazing ! I really loved staying at this hostel. They are very friendly, the rooms are very beautifuls, and the food is very good. The hostel is right at the start of the trail for Adam's Peak! What 's more?

A very nice and peaceful place to stay for 2 nights. Very close to Adams peak and other restaurants. The manager was very helpful and honest with helping me get a taxi from Adams peak to a place near Colombo, then from there 2 buses to Hikkaduwa. Buses in Sri Lanka are excellent, very cheap and frequent. Saved me a lot of money. And rooms are nice and big and excellent value for money.

Great place for Adam’s peak. Dorm rooms have so much space they almost feel private. The hosts are attentive and the food is great.

This is a great hostel to stay in if you’re hiking Adam’s Peak. We wished we had stayed an additional night as the surrounding area is stunning with lots of tea plantations and other hikes. The hostel is basic but has everything you need. Moreover, the owner has great local knowledge and gathers all hikers together the night before hiking Adam’s Peak to explain the route. We were made to feel at home and can’t thank the staff enough for their kindness.

Very nice hostel to do the Adam’s peak. Super friendly and helpful stuff and it’s easy as solo traveller to connect with others.
