Hostel Mangalem

Kaliope, the owner, does not speak one word of English and it is challenging to communicate with her and yet she is the sweetest! She treated me like a daughter offering me coffee, some breakfast and help with my luggage. I was the only guest there. The room is very comfortable and cozy and the whole hostel is this beautiful house with a stunning view over the river and the old town. Internet did not work well though.

A wonderful place with the most loving and caring host. Truly made the stay special.

Is not a Youth Hostel as such, seems more like a Guesthouse. Besides that, management (familly owned) were very nice and helpful

È stato un breve soggiorno, ma l'accoglienza davvero ottima! Il luogo è in una posizione ideale e comoda per vedere Berat! Le stanze sono inserite dentro un contesto davvero grazioso!

Sehr schönes kleine Unterkunft mit Bad. Die Frau ist sehr nett und hat gekühltes Wasser bereitgestellt. Sie hilft wo sie kann, es ist aber nicht so einfach da sie wenig englische Wörter kennt. Es gibt leider keine Küche/Aufenthaltsraum wie auf den Fotos. Sehr gut gelegen!

The place is super beautiful and well managed

We really enjoyed our stay here! Perfect location. We were welcomed by the lovely Genta and her mother Kalliope. Such kind hosts. The guesthouse is very beautiful and authentic, very charming! You can ask for breakfast (€4), which is prepared by Kalliope (very good home made jam).

The hostel is very small and it’s owned by a super friendly woman, she doesn’t speak English but she is very lovely and tries her best to help you. The location is amazing and perfect for exploring. I stayed one night longer as planned so absolutely recommended.

This is the cutest hostel I've stayed in. It's right in the old town, up a few cobble-stoned steps. It was only a 10 min walk from a bus stop, and we could walk to shops and restaurants very easily! It's run by a sweet lady who stocks the fridge with water religiously so there's always cold water. There was AC in the room, and everything seemed super clean! The balcony overlooks the city, its a very beautiful view. Probably the best value for your money that you could ask for :)

This was the loveliest stay I could have wished for for my stay in Berat! The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming and makes it feel more like a homestay than a hostel. Everything is super cozy and clean and the cherry on top is a beautiful terrace covered in grapes overlooking the city. It’s the perfect place to come back to and cool down in between, before or after exploring the city. Would come back here any time!

AMAZING HOSTEL! Seriously just book it. Great location and the view was so so much better even then the pictures. The owner is the nicest woman I’ve met in Albania always offering me water and tea. The entire hostel feels like a fairytale. Location felt quiet but still right in the center of town. Cannot recommend it enough!

The women who runs this place is so kind and sweet and made our experience. This is hands down probably the cleanest hostel I’ve ever come across and had the most stunning view from the terrace. It was in the perfect location to everything and the beds were very comfortable. It definitely doesn’t have a party atmosphere which I personally liked. Everything was PERFECT.. only wished we could have stayed forever! The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, the room was nice and clean, and the backyard was pure magic! Our stay at Hostel Mangalem was the highlight of our trip! Hope to be back soon

Oh my goodness.what a wonderfull stay. Carliopa was such a darling and couldn't do enough for her guests. The accomodation is in such a great spot and Carliopas kindness just topped it off. Would recommemd to anyone going to Berat

Parecía muy bueno para ser verdad, pero superó mis expectativas. Situado en una buena zona de la ciudad y con anfitrionas muy amables. La verdad que repetiría en otra ocasión.

This has been the most exceptional hostel I've ever experienced. The staff exhibited extraordinary friendliness, and the room, location, and vistas were truly breathtaking. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
