Took their Bromo sunrise package and it was mostly excellent. The 4x4 jeep pickup was punctual, the driver navigated the fog expertly, and we reached the viewpoint with time to spare for hot tea. Back at the hostel, the heated blanket in my dorm was a lifesaver after freezing on the crater rim. My critique is purely about timing: the jeep left thirty minutes later than promised, making us rush the sunrise walk. Sharper scheduling coordination would eliminate that morning stress. Would absolutely...
The atmosphere here is unbeatable every night the staff cook a massive family-style meal and suddenly you're laughing with strangers who become instant friends. The building itself is a stunning piece of colonial history with massive windows, high ceilings, and beautiful original floor tiles. I loved the free walking tours they offer; our guide took us deep into the colourful kampungs and introduced us to locals making traditional tempe. It felt authentic, never touristic. This place has a massi...
Cozy place with a lovely rooftop garden! The staff helped me plan my Bromo sunrise trip and even packed breakfast to-go. Dorm beds have privacy curtains and individual lamps. My only suggestion: adding more power outlets near the upper bunks would make charging devices easier for everyone. Still, I'd absolutely stay here again
Honestly the best thing is the coffee. Free all day and it's real local java coffee, not instant crap. Common area has couches that recline. I spent a whole rainy afternoon reading there. Dorm beds have curtains and two pillows each (rare). They helped me tour to Bromo for cheaper than online. Only issue: wifi a bit slow in the rooms, fine in lounge.
My bed was in the converted living room, which sounds odd but worked beautifully. The garden courtyard is stunning for morning coffee. Staff are young and energetic. They organised a Bromo tour that left on time. The only tiny downside was no lift — but my room was on second floor, manageable. Hot water strong. Quiet hours respected. A unique stay in Malang.
The atmosphere is incredibly chill and welcoming, making it so easy to meet fellow travelers from all over. The dorms were spotless and the beds were surprisingly comfy, which I really appreciated after a long day of exploring. Plus, the staff are absolute gems always ready with a smile and the best local food recommendations. It’s the perfect home base for a Malang adventure!
The staff were really super friendly and helpful with tour bookings. The dorm beds had privacy curtains, reading lights, and strong WiFi. Common area was cozy for meeting other travelers. Free breakfast included delicious local dishes like nasi goreng. The location is perfect, walking distance to Alun-Alun and many cafes. Very clean bathrooms and hot water worked well. For the price, it's truly unbeatable. Highly recommended for budget-conscious travelers. I'll be back!
Staying at this hostel really gave me a feel for the real Malang, which is such a vibrant university city. The location is brilliant because you're surrounded by local students, which means the street food right outside the door is insanely cheap and delicious—I basically lived off the martabak and pisang goreng from the carts across the street. The vibe inside the hostel is super laid-back; it’s not a loud, chaotic party hostel, but the outdoor courtyard with the string lights makes it so e...
I loved the rooftop terrace, which offered beautiful views of the city. It was the perfect place to relax in the evenings. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with soft beds that guaranteed a good night’s sleep. The staff organized affordable trips to Mount Bromo, which were well-planned and unforgettable.
I stayed here just 1 night and loved it. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms had a simple but cozy design. Everything felt well-maintained and clean. The hostel also helped arrange a trip to Bromo, which was incredibly convenient. I couldn’t have asked for a better base in Malang.
This hostel is such a great deal! Affordable prices without compromising on comfort or quality. I felt I got way more than I paid for, and I’d recommend it to budget conscious travelers.
Lovely spot lovely staff and a lovely experience overall! They have great access to facilities, food spots, tour packages and deals with sister hostels in a beautiful community! Thank you Kalakoala!! 🐨🩷

+ Nice hostel, although it was fairly new, it was very well decorated, clean, has a free to use kitchen and plenty of social spaces. They also have contacts with tours for Ijen etc so might be worth booking though them!
Really cool, modern and clean Hostel. They also write your Name on the roomdoor
