The Surf Hostel

Good location, friendly staff, social vibe on the terrace just not the cleanest of places

Despite being a nice hostel, the management greatly disappointed me by overcharging our group for an excursion by more than double! It should have been less than 600 DHM and they charged 1200, which would have been a fair price if we had a guide and a lunch, but we had neither, so we were only paying for them to call us a cab (which was 600 DHM). When we spoke up (politely) about it, one of us was kicked out of the hostel! That’s not a way to treat guests or to keep a good reputation.

I was not in the actual hostel, but an apartment building close by. Although I had access to the main place, the room was not the one in the pictures, and the apartment was old and not providing the same comfort/ facilities. When I complained about it they said the actual room is being refurbished, but they should've told me prior to my arrival, because I could not find a better place so last minute. This was the case for other people too (being in a different building). Price wise not worth it

Good located and friendly staff but unfortunatly not worth the price when compared with other hostels in the area. There was no breakfast included, the bed was super uncomfortable and the bathrooms were not exceptionally clean. I also do not recommend to rent surf gear from them since its overpriced too. I still had a good time there just when I compared it with other hostels around I noticed I could have spend less money and would have definetly gotten more comfort somewhere else.

Great location and nice terrace We booked the twin private room, there isn’t any window in it and it wasn’t that clean, we found some wrappings left in the room from previous people It was right next to a room where the family of the place stays and basically in the middle of their kitchen and living room area which was very loud and felt a bit intrusive since they are a big family with kids/babies The commons are nice and I would say people had a better experience than the privates

Tourist trap!!! We arrived and were treated by an unfriendly receptionist who showed us our room. We booked a private dorm, which turned out to be a prison cell on the other side of the street. Completely different to the pictures. The hostel owner himself is a really nice guy and did the best to still make it an enjoyable stay, and helped us find a solution. Be careful though because the young guy working there is ripping you off. He demands more than double the price it normally costs to rent!

The private rooms feel like a dingy cell off of someone’s very chaotic living room/ kitchen- the “outside window” faces the inside of another wall so offers no air flow, the small internal window opens onto a social space where the whole family of the owners gathered for the majority of the day eating meals & playing loud videos. The rooftop is lovely & the location is fab but I wouldn’t recommend if you are paying for a private room - dorms looked better!

Not sure where all the high ratings are coming from. Dorms may be nice, but the twin private we had was nothing more than 4 thin walls without daylight and only windows to the hallway (without curtains so the hallway lights shine in your face). Staff was nice, but not extremely helpful or available. We left after 2 nights (while we booked 4) and at checkout, no one even asked why we left early. Would def not come back here

Friendly hosts, very nice rooftop, possibility to rent boards and wetsuits. Limited possibility to secure your things. All in all great experience.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel! The atmosphere was amazing, the rooms were clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Everyone was so fun and welcoming. Definitely a great experience I would come back again!

Het is echt een chillhostel, ze doen niet echt hun best om veel activiteiten te regelen. Je moet ook wel zelf de dingen in de buurt regelen (activiteiten) daar wordt niet heel erg in meegedacht, maar het zijn wel hele lieve mensen. 🫶 Dus als jij lekker wilt chillen en genieten van Taghazout, zeker gaan!

Great social hostel if you want to meet people. Not the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed in but great location, nice rooftop area to socialise. Only downside is that in their description it mentions that you can book day trips through them which you absolutely can but only if you manage to find 6 people minimum! So just good to know beforehand as an fyi

Thank you so much for my 12 day stay, was a life changing experience. Ismail and the family on the top floor made my stay perfect felt like I was at home. Such a great location will definetely be back.

Really good place to socialize and enjoy the evening at the rooftop, specially with you are there for the free couscous night! However, don't expect much from the facilities, lack of cleanliness (specially the toilets) and broken lockers in the room.. I barely saw the staff in the reception, also, when I payed in dirhams their exchange rate was not really fair I ended up paying more. The location is very convinient.

10/10 place. Dylan and Ismail are two of the best hosts

I stayed at this hostel and had an amazing experience. The staff is absolutely wonderful, especially Ismail, who helped with everything and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. In general, all the people here are kind and easy to get along with. I felt really comfortable during my stay, almost like being at home. I had a great time and will definitely come back again!

This is the best hostel in Taghazout. Amazing location, very clean, and great staff. No complaints about our stay. Dylan at reception was very welcoming and made sure that everyone was having a great time. The two owners as well were super nice and helpful when we decided to extended our stay. I will definitely be back

I’ve stayed in 3 hostels in taghazout and that was the most social one thanks to the big rooftop. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Dylan is the GOAT!

Dylan was an exceptional member of staff. Always professional and highly motivated. His expertise and knowledge of the local language and culture really improved my stay. Great sesh at this gaff as well 👌

Ich kann das Einzelzimmer nicht empfehlen. Nur ein kleines Fenster das sich unter der Decke befindet und bisschen wie eine Gefängniszelle wirkt. Die Dachterrasse ist traumhaft.

It‘s a super nice hostel to meet other backpackers, the rooftop is the spot where you make new friends. We had a private room in the building in front of the main building, which was pretty good. The staff was nice as well.

10/10 hostel, great vibe with nice outside terrace upstairs. Staff were welcoming and very nice. Location was second to none
