Hostel la Suerte

It’s much more rustic than the pictures make it seem. What really made me dislike this place was how they handled a lost item I accidentally left behind. They made absolutely no effort to help me locate it, took days to respond to each email, and offered little to no communication throughout the process. Eventually they simply said it wasn’t there. By that point, it was likely stolen. Very frustrating and disappointing experience overall.

There is a guy who works at the reception, who makes weird comments about girls bellybuttons and tries to touch them inappropriately.I‘ve heard this from several girls and experienced it as well.This makes me sick.Even after reporting him he still wouldn’t stop.The Hostel itself was good and clean,but this guy is creepy.

We were so unfortunate that there was a big smell of mold in the first room we stayed in, which they didn’t do anything about.. we got moved to another dorm, however nothing was done from the first one + we saw that the bedlinen we slept in the first night wasn’t changed but just refolded. We got wrong information regarding the tours we booked through them, which is unfortunate as a tour we planned for a few hours ended up taking more than half the day.

Great location, nice reception lady, prices are cheap and suitable. Now, since the price is low, you get what you pay for. The facility is old, thin walls, breakfast is just two pancakes, quarter of a banana, and small cup of black coffee. Shared bathroom was not a pleasant experience with just one toilet paper and barely hand soap, but if you are going for a budget stay it’s good. No AC so it’s hot overnight, even when it was raining.

Tried two showers in the hostel and both were freezing - we were told they would be ‘lukewarm’. Hostel messed up our booking so we had to move rooms and were told we wouldn’t be together despite being under one booking. Hostel locks are all the same code and the doors do not lock/unlock properly. No plugs by beds so had to charge using portable chargers the whole time. The room smelt of damp and was mouldy as well as there being mould in the bathroom sink. Avoid at all costs

NOT FOR SOLO FEMALE TRAVELERS!! Even as three female travelers we felt uncomfortable with one of the members of staff - definitely avoid as a solo female traveler. He made inappropriate moves to a few of the guests while we were staying there and we had to over emphasise having boyfriends to try and get him to leave us alone. He kind of appeared anytime we were in a social space, making us feel like we were being watched. It is a shame because the space could be really nice. Girl to girl, avoid!

Mi amiga y yo quedamos muy decepcionadas con nuestra estancia de dos noches en el albergue. A la llegada la habitación estaba infestada de insectos y seguía polvorienta y ruidosa a pesar de que la habían limpiado. Era imposible contactar con nadie a altas horas de la noche. Las ruidosas obras empezaron a las 8 de la mañana y en recepción nos dijeron que no debíamos oírlas. Además, el desayuno era mínimo y no se correspondía con las fotos de la reserva, y el personal no era muy amable.

Cleaning and hygiene needs urgent attention. Kitchen was so dirty with ants in the pots and pans. I suspect a mouse to have eaten my bread and fruit. Furthermore they say “don’t throw paper in the toilet” then please empty the bin, we didn’t have cleaning once during our stay. Nasty. They removed drying towels and didn’t provide new ones. I then used my personal towel with nametag which they also removed? I labelled my food which they also to took to their staff fridge. It’s cheap u ...

Super, le personnel était vraiment très aidant

Great hostel with a lovely family running it! Very welcoming atmosphere and has everything you need. Lots of space to park my rental car. Walls are a bit thin but was very quiet for the most part! Would recommend!

Lovely cabin style hostel! Felt super relaxed in the environment, breakfast was yummy! I would recommend to anyone!!

Fantastic hostel to stay at in Monteverde! Friendly and helpful staff, good cooking facilities and a nice layout. Close to a supermarket and the small town. A good option to explore the cloud forest

Très bon hostel! Le personnel est charmant et accueillant, ils peuvent vous aider sans problème à organiser vos visites et navettes. Le petit déjeuner est top (pancakes et fruits, café ou thé à volonté). Les dortoirs et sanitaires sont corrects. Les espaces communs sont agréables avec notamment une très belle vue sur le golfe de Nicoya pour les couchers de soleil!

Die Hosts waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und geräumig. Nachts war es recht kalt und durch den Wind extrem laut. Das Badezimmer hatte einen unangenehme Geruch. Die Küche ist sehr groß und schön, allerdings wurde sie den ganzen Tag nicht aufgeräumt, weswegen sie gegen Abend sehr eklig und dreckig war. In der Küche war es auch sehr kalt. Für ein paar Tage dennoch zu empfehlen.

La recepcionista, Lili, es una persona encantadora, podría preguntarle cualquier cosa. El hostel también es muy bonito, lo recomiendo.

Bra boendet som ligger ca 5 minuter från main town. Det är ett stort kök och ganska mycket utrustning men lite svårt att torka grejerna då det är få handdukar. Rummen är ganska bra, sköna sängar och eget badrum. De som jobbar där är trevliga men kan vara något förvirrade.

La cuisine laissait à désirer niveau propreté, mais c'était vraiment dû au fait que beaucoup de personnes ne nettoyaient par après elles, certains ne débarassaient même pas leurs assiettes ! WTF. Sinon, chambre spacieuse et personnel très aidant.

Very nice place with a lot of spots to relax. The staff was very nice and helpful with activities and schedules. Breakfast were pancakes, fruits and coffee and the kitchen was pretty big. Supermarket very close and town center at ~5min walk. Many activities to do around. Overall very nice stay.

Das Zimmer hat sehr eklig gerochen und in der Küche war überall Pancake Teig an der Wand. Das Geschirr war nicht wirklich sauber und die Küche war schlecht ausgestattet. Freunden wurde dort 75€ geklaut. Ich würde nicht nochmal wiederkommen.

The room was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated how close the hostel was to local food and activities.

Friendly hostel up on the hill in Santa Elena. Fantastic view from the terrace at sunset! I only stayed one night but the atmosphere seemed very social and friendly. A bit of a walk into the town center, but only about 10-15mins. Everything was clean. The kitchen was mostly good, altough there were a few broken stoves. The room was pretty basic, but it had all the necessities. Something to put your stuff on the top bunk would have been nice. Overall very nice stay, would come again.

I loved my stay at Hostel de la Suerte. The owners are incredibly genuine, friendly, and welcoming, and they make you feel at home. The breakfasts are delicious, the beds are very comfortable, and the room temperature is perfect. Overall, everything is beautiful and well taken care of. I definitely recommend it.

Très bonne auberge conviviale avec la cuisine et super petit dej. Peut être revoir les plaques de cuissons (c’est un peu short). Très beau point de vue et la propriétaire est adorable.

The location was off the main road just a bit which made it perfect. The rooms and kitchen were clean and easy to use, breakfast was great and the social areas were nice for getting to know new people.

Cute hostel, great volunteers and great view. The only thing is that the kitchen was always very dirty. People were not cleaning after themselves and I feel that the owners were letting people be like that.

Such friendly and helpful staff. They help you book shuttles and activites. really appreciated the pancakes and coffee for breakfast. Nice views from the shared balcony. Not too nice common space. Okay kitchen. Be sure to bring earplugs bc when it's storm it's very noisy.
