Vancouver Backpacker House

This was horrible. They make you WhatsApp and then there is a 4% fee for PayPal. I input the correct amount and added 4%. They told me I was $0.49 short and made me send more money. The house has two single-use bathrooms for 25~ beds. Someone showed up at the door late at night when I stepped out and pushed his way in. Not safe, basically slumlord business. House is moldy and has not been updated in decades it seems. Hostelworld should remove the listing, it is a health hazard and scammy.

Unhygienic, poor environment, poor attitude of the booking staff, unclean kitchen and bathroom, I will never book this hostel again, I have stayed in many self-service hostels, none of them are so bad

Difficult owners, no proper functioning hot water for shower, intrusion into room at 1230am by another guest. Bizarre payment method. Owners takes no responsibility when contacted and blames guest?? Never never again hostel world. Very horrible experience

My friends and I stayed here thinking that it would be a better price as a hostel. We should have checked, because we found that airbnb had better deals near by. They charged an additional $25 USD than the original listing (For a downpayment and for towels). not worth it for a group, maybe solo traveler.

The most basic space. Build into multiple homes, so when you show up you might have to walk another 5 to 10 min. Need to text and send a payment directly to their account including safety deposit. Never seen this in my entire life, incredibly strange. Wouldn’t stay again unless you specifically need to be in that area.

Todo muy viejo y en mal estado (excepto el baño). La forma de pagar y de conseguir luego el deposito 100$ es muy complicada. Los colchones están en el suelo, sin somier. No existe ningún tipo de intimidad, ni de cortinas ni nada dentro de la habitación. No hay armarios, ni sitio donde poner tus pertenencias con un candado. Te obligan a andar descalzo en el piso de arriba, cuando realmente no está limpio, y además la limpiadora usa zapatos. Alójate aquí solo si no te queda más reme...

Unbelievably difficult to access Rooms cramped. Unhygienic Unclean. Pay for towels ? Do not waste your money. Will be giving a negative report to BBB, TripAdvisor and informing Vancouver hotel standards Paid deposit for 10 days. Unwilling to spend even first night. Beware !

There was a guy who screaming all day. What a nightmare The bathroom wasn’t clean and staff weren’t really nice

It is a house with lots of people and not a single person to greet you or watch over what's going on. It is not a real hostel. There are hidden fees. I would not recommend you going here except if you don't find anything else.

This place should be avoided - nothing feels clean in this hostel. Bedding is old and rooms are dingy. There were only one or two tiny bathrooms on the whole bottom floor which feels cramped and unclean. I checked in at 11.30pm and there were 3 sketchy guys (other residents) sitting outside the back door entrance talking and laughing. I could hear people talking and laughing, the toilet being flushed and shower running until late into the early morning. This can't fully be blamed on the hostel b...

As it was my first time in Vancouver, I wanted to get a good and affordable place. And this was exactly what the VBH offered. The fact it was located in a good and calm neighbourhood helped me as well. The check-in and check-out were easy (only text with the landlord). I had no problems during my stay

Great hostel for a quick pitstop before going into BC

a little out of the way maybe, i dont know vancouver. but served well for a nights sleep after landing and before travelling on. the private 3 room was perfect, comfortable, clean. nice and private feeling.

Good stay, really helpful hosts and room was clean/common areas cleaned regularly!

The hostel is excellently located, close to major transportation hubs as well as many restaurants and attractions, making getting around very convenient. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a soft bed that ensured a good night's sleep.

C'est un bon endroit pour rester quand on veut être au calme, mais du coup pour les voyageurs c'est pas idéal : on rencontre pas grand monde, il n'y a pas d'activités et c'est loin du centre ville. Finalement avec les coûts de transports, une auberge plus au centre de Vancouver est certainement plus avantageuse même si elle coûte 10 dollars de plus. Mais sinon il n'y avavait ppaspas de gros problème c'était plutôt propre, le personnel était plutôt sympa et on se sentait en sécurité

A lovely place to arrive to! highly recommend. great staff, very friendly and helpful. great communication from the manager, helped arriving and getting settled easy. i couldnt have asked for a better place!

As others have stated the payment process is weird. The host asked that we send payment day off via PayPal. Setting that aside the hostel was clean and as expected. The code/locking door system worked great and check-in/out was easy. Location is great if you have a car, but be a little harder with public transit because you are outside downtown.

Great place to stay in Vancouver. I would recommend it to other travellers. Quiet location and affordable.

Very good value for money in a fantastic location, just 5 min walk from an enormous mall in vancouver and a skytrain station and bus terminal. Couldn't ask for much more.

My stay at "Vancouver Backpacker House" was very pleasant. The rooms were clean, and the cleaning staff came daily, keeping everything tidy and well-prepared. The bathrooms, in particular, were very well maintained. There was plenty of space for luggage, even in the 10-person bedroom. Additionally, the organization and self-check-in process went smoothly. I had a great stay and would definitely choose it again.

If you are looking for social place closeto main attractions this not place for you. But if looking for basic, quite and affordable place is good... They dont provide free towels and since there is no interaction with staff you have find somewhere else to get coins for laundry machine in building.
