HI Sacramento

The manager was rude and one staff member the manager was accusing me a racial comments then she said I could not stay at the hostel. The manager was not welcome and hysterical and disrespectful. I will never stay there again as long as that manager is working at the facility.

Horrible hostess’s, unkind, and unfriendly

Friendly staff. No heat in the bedroom. No hot water when I took my shower at 06:00. No provisions for someone with disability. Beautiful old victorian house, but had some dry rot around the window in the bathroom. Homeless people in tents across the street from Hostel and you could hear them yelling.

A great old building in a prime location. Awesome kitchen. Great patio. The mattresses are, unfortunately, hostel normal (thin), and there was only one toilet and two showers, but luckily there were few travellers so it worked out. Close to Amtrak, Capital Mall, and several bus routes. Great staff, super helpful and friendly.

Overall, the staff were very friendly, the opportunity to make various improv dishes from free shelves, the location’s access to transportation to explore, and people I met make this location worth it.

There was no parking for me so I had to pay $25 for a spot. Super annoying! Other than that it’s a nice place in an old mansion. Just don’t come if you have a vehicle

Had a solo room for one night. Had to walk several floors down to go to the toilet. Got my luggage stored for free, which was a nice service. The safety is top priority and is nice. Friendly staff

Gorgeous Victorian property and kind staff. Humongous dining room, drawing room, living room, game room. Central heat and A/C! Private rooms available, two with en suite bathrooms. Free parking.

Solid place to stay. Slept well, shower and restroom was real good. House has class. Would have liked to stay longer.

Overall this place is pretty good. The staff I interacted with were nice, the rooms were clean, some of the facilities were not in thr best shape but keep in mind it is an old historical building. If you need parking they have it for a small daily fee.

There wasn't a moment that I felt unsafe! Walking distance to the train and several lime scooters. Pretty quiet/slow part of town with all the government buildings. I wish we were able to get a quick tour of the facilities but the front desk staff was very busy around check in time so understandable. My room appeared to not have been vacuumed and the bathroom could have been cleaned more often but overall, it was a gorgeous space and so worth the price. I would come back!

GREAT place. My only real complaint is that the door to the gender neutral shower room in the basement (the shower facilities closest to the women's 4-bed domitory in which I stayed), which held a single shower stall and single out-in-the-open toilet, could not be locked or even fully closed. The door was broken. As a single woman traveling alone, safety, privacy, dignity are imporant to me. I'm fine with gender neutral toilets & showers, providing they are single occupancy and lockable.

This is a beautiful, historic hostel in a great downtown Sacramento location. Hostel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful! I will definitely stay here again in the future!

Excellent place to stay! I stayed before about a decade ago and it is still great.

I appreciate that there was parking on site for those of us driving into Sacramento, and the building was warm and cozy even though I was visiting in the cold winter. I visited this hostel a few years ago for a different trip, my only complaint is that they used to provide a light breakfast, but now they seem to only provide coffee in the mornings.

Me alojé 2 noches en Hi Sacramento y fue una buena experiencia. La casa donde se encontraba era preciosa, muy buenas zonas comunes y personal muy amable. Lo único que salí muy satisfecho fue con la cama, ya que el colchón estaba muy blando y volví a casa con mucho dolor de espalda. Por lo demás muy bien.

Beautiful old fashiofashion House right by train station downtown. The staff was the best I have had in a long time. Great Game Room. Bed was very comfortable. I am gonna stay there again when Im in Sacramento! I recommend this to anyone! Its so beautiful in the morning with the fall colors!

I had a private single room on the 3 rd floor. Checked in late after Diane Ross concert . Front desk was very warm and welcoming. Make the check in very easy and friendly . Great staff , take good care of your staff don’t take them for granted. Meeting the other guests was a big highlight. Met guests from Turkey , Bulgaria ,DC , NYC , El Cerrito , CA ….. & even met a large group of bicyclists from NorCal Tour Bicyclists, all very friendly. HI Sacramento Hostel have the best architecture...

I enjoyed my stay at HI Sacramento even though it was a short visit. The house is beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of places within walking distance, including Cafe Immortal (coffee shop), which has discounts for HI guests. Overall, I would come back to the hostel if I’m in the area again.

We are older travellers and really enjoyed our stay here. Be aware there are numerous flights of stairs. Our room was comfortable and clean, extra hooks would have been useful. The neighbourhood was fine during the day, not so sure about the night.

very nice building, huge communal space

The hostel is clean and spacious. The mansion is so beautiful, it's really unlike other hostels I've stayed in. It's nice that the front door is locked but strange to have to wait for someone to let you in by hand, when the room keys have electric transponders. The hostel is really lovely, I would definitely stay here again
