Fortuna Pink Hostel

You essentially go and live with a Costa Rican family in their house. It's clean and quiet, about 5 minutes outside La Fortuna by Uber or 20 minutes walking. But it is definitely NOT a hostel. It's basically a guesthouse and while the owner is trying hard (sometimes too hard with pushing tours that he can get at a cheaper rate than elsewhere), there is zero sense of community or anything that you typically look for when choosing to book a hostel. We left after 1 night of our 5-night booking.

Fue una estancia tranquila, estuvimos practicamente solas. Echamos en falta percheros en la habitacion donde poder colgar nuestras cosas. Nos duchamos con agua fria en nuestro baño, luego nos dijo que en el otro baño teniamos agua caliente. La cocina bien equipada (habia cafe para poder desayunar).

Gerald con su familia te atienden con mucho amor. El hostel no es muy limpio y tiene un solo baño para compartir lo cual genera inconvenientes cuando el hostel esta muy ocupado ya que se satura. Precio-calidad esta muy bien.

We had a great stay at this place. Gerard and his family were so so welcoming we immediately felt comfortable staying there. They had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and Gerard’s recommendations for what we should do with our two days were spot on! Thank you to the whole family!

The owner was SOO nice! Very helpful and very kind to us. As two girls traveling for the first time he was so kind and helped us find stuff to do. We felt very safe there.

Read carefully! Is this the best & nicest hostel ever, no. But what you get is something you don’t find in hostels, you get a real Costa Rican experience from a local. I had a good experience here. I stayed in the private room with en-suite bath. The location is outside of the city center, which I prefer. It is a short drive or fairly short walk into the city. The house is gated and I was able to park the rental car behind the gate which was nice for peace of mind. Gerald is friendly. The en-suite bathroom had a shower (with no shower head) and a toilet, no sink. So, you’ll need to use the main bathroom to wash your hands, brush your teeth, have a shower hea...

Ce n'est pas une auberge mais une maison d'hôte. Personnellement ce n'est pas ce que je recherchais, la famille vit vraiment dans les lieux. Après ils sont absolument adorables et l'endroit et très bien !

Great hostel with a great kitchen and free coffee!! Gerald was the best. He gave us loads of information about activities to do around the area and helped us work out local buses leaving La Fortuna. Not only that, he upgraded our room which was so nice of him!! Definitely stay here, it feels like you’re at home.

I loved Pink Hostel! It was a bit outside of La Fortuna city, so it was very peaceful and the atmosphere was really nice. Gerald and his family are so incredibly kind and hospitable, I felt very comfortable and very well taken care of. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great time in La Fortuna, I will be back!

Pink Hostel is a Unique and superior place to stay. The real difference makes the owner Gerald and his Family. If After all the airbnbs and anonymous Hostel stays there is a Place with REAL hospitality, Geralds Pink Hostel is the Place to Go!!

Gerald and his family are the best host! He loves to share the beauty that is La Fortuna. If you ask to do a tour, he’ll have it arranged or take you himself. The location is slightly outside the city to provide a bit of quiet but not far from all the action. He is available to answer any questions/request you have. Could not recommend this place enough. Not too social of a hostel but amazing if you’re traveling with someone.

Gerald is an amazing host who will do anything in his power to make your trip to la fortuna as amazing as possible. He and his family take care of the hostel really well and if you want to do any activities in la fortuna you should definitely ask him with help for booking, he'll always get you the best deal :). If you want to stay at a fun and authentic place this is the best you will get.

Gerald, his wife, and kids are the best hosts! They went out of their way to make sure I felt at home my entire stay. The property is clean, quiet, and a nice short walk to town. Gerald is so helpful answering any questions you may have about La Fortuna. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

Really welcoming host and great value for money

I can’t say enough good things about Fortuna Pink Hostel. Gerald is the best hostel host I’ve ever had. This is his childhood home, and he manages the hostel with his wife and 2 daughters. He gives really great advice on the best things to do in Fortuna, and goes out of his way to help with anything you need. I highly recommend his sloth tour/night walk and his river tubing experience. This has got to be the best hostel in LA Fortuna! Gerald is one of the kindest people I've ever met. He's a great host and family man and he'll help you with any inconveniences and answer your questions. The house is also very taken care of. The rooms are clean and the kitchen has everything you'll need to eat and cook. I can't thank Gerald enough for my stay. Will definitely come back next time I'm visiting Costa Rica!

I don’t even know where to start. The owner Gerald is the absolute best. He and his wife treated us with the up most respect and their hospitality was always phenomenal. My spouse and I did a sloth tour and night walk with Gerald and we saw seven sloths, all in their natural habitat starting from right outside the hostel. He is a great man and even better human being and I think the pink hostel is the best place to stay while in la fortuna.

This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we felt instantly at home thanks to Gerard and his lovely family. We extended an extra 2 nights because it was such a nice, calm atmosphere. It’s near a supermarket so you can cook or it’s about a 10/15 minute walk if you want the main bars and restaurants. Definitely recommend

Gerald was amazing!! He really does go above and beyond. Meeting him and his beautiful family was a joy. He helped us to spot a sloth right from the hostel and took us to look for a Toucan. We recommend you book your tours through him, as he is super knowledgeable and will help get the best deals. The place is in a safe neighbourhood and it is very quiet at night. The facilities were rustic, but clean and the kitchen is very spacious. We would definitely come again! Great price! Gracias!

Wie wurden herzlich empfangen und hatten einen super Aufenthalt. Wir fühlten uns jederzeit wohl und willkommen. Es ist alles sauber und ordentlich.

I felt very comfortable in the hostel, thank you so much! It's a 15-20min walk to the city center, but the area is quiet and I felt very safe (as a woman traveling alone). The hosts are very friendly and gave me some great tips :) I would definitely stay here again
