Raglan Backpackers and Waterfront Lodge

Honestly this place is so special! If you manage to get a bed here you’re one of the lucky ones :) Loved my stay here and felt super safe as a solo female traveller. Looking forward to come back :)

Amazing hostel! One of the best experiences I've ever had backpacking. This hostel also attracts the most amazing humans - incredible social and welcoming. Staff is amazing and accommodating, everything was very clean.

Room and bed was clean, tidy and very comfortable! The location was great, we enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables in the grassy area. Quick walk into town and to the beach. Only feedback is that it didn’t feel super clean in the bathrooms and showers but I think the facilities are just old. Besides that, everything was lovely!

Very conveniently located in the town, so easily walkable to everything around — beaches are harder to get to without a car. Relatively clean hostel, spacious enough kitchen especially in the evenings when everyone is preparing dinners. Nice outdoor area for sunsets and chilling with friends — though quiet hours were not strictly enforced so I got quite unlucky with the other guests who were staying at the time and would put music on full blast into 2-3 am every night

Surf shuttle no longer runs! Only stay here if you have a car. Super disappointed this wasn’t updated in description when I arrived. Vibe was cold from staff and incredibly cliquey from the volunteer squad. Otherwise the hostel is super basic but in a beautiful old home with lots of cute spots to sit.

Super hostel !!!

We stopped in Raglan for one evening and really enjoyed the hostel. The vibe was great with lots of people who were willing to chat and be friendly! If you like surfing then this is definitely the place for you, we wanted to try paddle boarding but unfortunately the timings of the tide were not on our side. They were able to supply that equipment had we been more lucky with tides! Slightly lower marks because the kitchen was a bit untidy after folks had been cooking but this may be a one off

Loved this hostel and Raglan! Definetly want to go back some day if I come here! Can't recommend enough. It's right next to the beach, the views are to the beach. Best communal spaces with outdoor tables, big kitchen, hammocks... It's also just in the little centre of the town. Beds are comfy and everything clean. The dorm was nice. There is only one bathroom and two showers, but I didn't have to wait once. The surf beach is farther away, but you can also rent a bike from the hostel to go there

I had a great stay at this Raglan hostel. The best part is absolutely the location—it's right on the water and a very quick walk (literally a minute or two) into the main town for coffee, groceries, and all the cool little shops. The vibe is very laid-back and welcoming. The staff were friendly and made check-in quick and easy. My dorm room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a good night's sleep after a long day at the beach. Will definately visit again

Stayed here in September - the best vibe. Super chill, everyone was very friendly from the backpackers to the staff. Very comfy beds and very clean facilities. Would 100% recommend.

A wonderful place to stay!

Best hostel I have ever stayed. The vibe is so good. It is so cosy. Dorm is really nice. Really loved it here. I have stayed in quite a lot hostels already but I am for sure this is the best. It is not the newest or most luxerious one but the atmosphere is amazing. Staff is really kind and the town and beach are amazing as well. Don’t skip this hostel!

Cute vibe! Staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed in the 3 person dorm and was nice. Only thing is no plugs for the upper bunk (or curtains would be awesome). Otherwise great stay and perfect location

It’s nice and on the water with good proximity to the bus stop. Staff very nice and it’s super relaxed. Room could be cleaner with a fair few spiders and the fridges could use a good clean too.
