HosteLaVie - Varanasi

I got bedbugs here. And when I told them, their response was “What’s your point?” It was a nightmare. Not to mention, the hotel has a terrible location. You have to walk through alleys where there are goats eating garbage. There seemed to be better options for the same price, closer to the ghats. I traveled all over India, this place was the worst experience due to the bedbugs.

Booked a room with aircon months in advance. After checkin, and paying for said room, we were informed the aircon was broken. After multiple attempts to change and/or fix the situation, their only option was to move us to a larger room, at a higher rate. They still refuse to address the matter, or at least charge us for the fan room. This is terrible and dishonest customer service.

I would not recommend a female solo traveller to stay here. 1. Dorms are NON AC and it is not clearly stated in the booking page. In a city that reaches 42ºC, that makes it impossible to sleep 2. There is a party venue nearby. There was loud music until late (past 12). I asked the staff to do sth about it and I got really rude responses 3. In continuing with that: I was told to “do my homework before coming to India” by the person in charge and invited to leave the property at 1am for compl...

Las imágenes no coincidían con la realidad, muchas imágenes eran falsas. Además nos apiñaron en una habitación enana con colchones y sábanas sucias. El baño estaba en construcción con un nido de lombrices dentro del inodoro.

Worst location. Food was even worst.Path to hostel was very much dirty and weird. Look for better options.

This was an awful experience. I really can’t put into words how bad it was. The lanes coming to the property were so dirty and disgusting. The staff were very unfriendly, the room was dirty, flies everywhere. Throughout the night people were shouting in the garden which was beside our room. No hot water or water at all for over 24 hours. We regretted staying here and if we hadn’t arrived in so late we would have left.

The staff was very nice. However the facilities were worse than on the pictures, very old bathroom/toilet, no chill area’s fat boys as shown in the picture. In addition, there were mice in our room, and we found mouse poop in our bed.

Varanasi itself has a unique and vibrant atmosphere, but the hostel didn’t quite live up to its value. The staff, however, were very cooperative and helpful, always ready to guide you. Unfortunately, the price paid didn’t align with the quality of the room

It's ok. But we didn't feel welcome. It's overal clean for hostel standards. Except the blankets and pillows. They weren't washed and u smelled the person before u. U have to pay for the towels and some powerpoints in our room didn't work. The noises were very loud and when u are sitting downstairs they didn't serve u. At least we had warm water (but the shower head wasn't that great). For this price we had seen much better hostels in India.

Walls on rooms are really dirty, also in bathroom. Hoy water NEVER happened. Its a pity because the place is charming

We spent 4 days here and would genuinely recommend it to anyone. The location is great, in a relatively quiet area of the city, yet just a short walk from the ghats and excellent restaurants. Our private room was clean and fully functional. It was a bit small and boring (white walls) but we were busy exploring anyway. The real standout is the staff: organizing amazing tours, arranging a taxi at 4 AM and just beeing genuinely helpful for everything!

It’s not bad at all. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it’s a great place to stay for a few days in Varanasi. The hostel staff are very friendly and attentive, and the bed is very comfortable. Overall, I would recommend it.

location was in a more quiet area of Varanasi while still being next to the ghats, which was good. atmosphere was really dead when I was there though, almost no other travellers, and the place felt a bit run down, although I feel there is high potential because it is a pretty place with a nice garden. there could be some kind of setup on the rooftop but there were just broken chairs. staff helped as much as they could.

Great location, close to the Ganges and the ghats. Room is clean and fresh, staff are really friendly and informative, provided a lot of information to me:)

The hospitality experienced at HosteLaVie was top tier. Ricky has great advice for Varanasi and helped us arrange many things throughout our stay. Room was also very clean and had hot water.

Nice quiet hostel within the crazy city of Varanasi. Location was good, close to the ghats which made it easy to do tours etc. The staff were also very helpful in organising everything for us and nothing was too much trouble. The hostel and facilities seemed quite run down and could do with a bit of a refurb, but that would be my only criticism.

Great hostel! Lovely peaceful area with amazing rooftop view over the river. Staff are really friendly and accommodating! Couldn’t recommend enough.

The location is good if you want to explore assi ghat and soundings. The personal was really polite. The kitchen could improve, is kinda small. I didn't see the common areas they mentioned or they weren't available. There was something that looked like rat poop on my bed and the bathroom, not quite sure if it was it. (80% sure tho)

Good hostel to stay in Varanasi. Private room was nice but for AC you need to pay extra. Nice rooftop and green spots. What I did not like was that you cannot store anything in the fridge of the hostel. The food was not the best but okay.

We loved our stay here! Ricky and the other staff members were very friendly. It’s in a great location and the hostel offers great, affordable food

Should be more ventilation within the dorm room as it becomes very very hot due to lack of it
