There are gaps in yhe back of the lockers that lead to the lockers below and I lost over $200 U.S dollars through this gap. I went back and it was gone. I did same day Laungry there and it took 2 days I had to.stay in Minca an extra night to wait 2 days for my laundry.
I got food poising because the fridge runs on solar power and was out during the night. Defintely something that should be mentioned. Otherwise beautiful place. 15 min walk away from the city. The rooms are a bit small. Little space to put the baggage. Lights go mostly out at 19.00 because of solar panel electricity only. Its a big hostel. Not the best for solo traveling. Service is professional, but not very friendly. The view is amazing.
Very bad service from JungleJoe regarding their laundry service! We recovered our barely washed clothes (mud on the clothes) but above all they were sting the diesel! We paid 40,000 COP for this poor service. We asked to be reimbursed but it was refused. They offered us to wash our clothes again when they knew we were leaving the same day. Too bad because the experience could have been perfect, with a very beautiful hotel and very nice view
I don't understand the hype of this hostel... It's a tourist factory with tiny dormitories with no electricity (on my part). The reception was open 3 hours a day, and the staff were absent and unpleasant... The famous beautiful view only looks out over the city of Santa Marta, which is not very natural… The lockers are broken and unsuitable for most padlocks.
It’s 15/20 minutes far from Minca, don’t use google maps to go there because it’s wrong. You have to sign and agree to some rules that no one follows and no one check and make people be quite. At the place you discover that kitchen is available only after 17:00 and didn’t saw this on Hostelworld. The room.. bring your own locker, your own towels and hand soap because are not provided. Very tiny room, no chairs but the worst part was the mosquitoes net, didn’t work because of some hole...
I didn’t love this hostel. The hostel looks beautiful. Our room however, felt like an afterthought. There were some essentials like a trash ban, mirror, hook for towels and a small bedside light missing. The bed was extremely hard and there were some bug eggs in the sheets. They did change the sheets immediately tho, which was great. The breakfast is great. There are lots of places to chill and meet other travelers.
No recomiendo.
Although the hotel has charm, the way to get there is not practical. the staff is friendly but sparse., the same person who was at the reception was the one who served you the drink etc., so if you wanted to order with him, and he was in the middle of a check-in you had to wait until he finished to serve you. the cleanliness in the common bathrooms leaves much to be desired, the drain had a hairball, and the water pressure was terrible. the room you can hear everything around. i don't recommend.
Unfortunately, we cannot understand the positive reviews for this hostel. “Eco” should not mean dirty. Our private room, bathroom, and kitchen were unhygienic, with staff using the same kitchen for tours and breakfast. We had to wash dishes before use and no towel was provided in the room. The solar energy concept felt like an excuse for limited electricity; the jacuzzi only worked in the morning. Misinformation about the “Los Pinos” hike ruined our plans. The view and hummingbirds were ...
The hostel is very nice and offers a great view on the forest and the Santa Marta bay. However, lots of things made us put this bad mark. No towels, even for private room. Laundry service works only in the morning and for an expensive price of 10.000COP/kg. The ladder to get to the room is maybe funny the first time but very inconvenient. The small kitchen you must use in the morning and afternoon is almost without any equipment… Unfortunately this doesn’t match with the price of the room.

Super stay at Jungle Joe An extra point for the view for the sunset over the city!
Loved this hostel especially the hammock overlooking the hills, about 15 mins from town and great vibes would really recommend
I really enjoyed staying at Jungle Joe. The views were amazing and the vibes were great. I definitley recommend it!
Beautiful view from this hostel and the breakfast changes every day and is very delicious. Slightly out of the way but it’s a quick, easy, and safe walk. I thought the walk was worth it. Biggest downside is the kitchen is very small. The photos display the bar but the actual kitchen is very low on everything and is in a very small cramped space.
Nice hostel. Not much of a social atmosphere, you have to figure out that part yourself. Most of the guests I talked to very only there to do drugs, so I didn't have a lot in common with them. The chocolate making tour was really good, and good value for money. Breakfast was very yummy. Superfriendly staff.
Absolutely stunning hostel, loveliest staff ever and amazing views. Had such a chill vibe and the food was delicious too, especially the free breakfast. The sunsets were probably the best I’ve seen on my trip and immaculate vibes in the nets. It’s a short walk into Minca town.
Overall, a nice place As a ecolodge you surrender things such as a nice shower and the little luxuries. It was dead quite the whole time and is not overly social. This said the hostel is very nice with a beautiful location. The tours offered I thought were quite good and a reasonable price. It’s a nice 15-20 minute walk to the town
A disappointing hostel, a kitchen that is unusable, extremely uncouth staff, unwilling and unfit to manage a reception facility.
Incroyable endroit !
Incredible location ! 20 minutes walk from the center, so perfect to feel in the jungle, while having access to everything. The location is magnificent and the common areas Super comfortable, there are plenty of hammocks to admire the view and hummingbirds ! The staff is super nice, the vibe is very sociable without being too festive, great for meeting people 😍 the poorly equipped kitchen is not practical for cooking, but breakfast included and delicious resto meals. A jewel hostel !
Good compromise between views and in walking distance to Minca town, free breakfast was delicious, pool was missed on hot afternoons but the price without pool was reasonable
such a great jungle stay!!!! don’t expect luxury but a lovely magical ecolodge in the heart of the jungle :) great facilities given you’re in the middle of the jungle and free breakfast is such an added bonus
Incredible hostel!!! Amazing views, wonderful staff, delicious breakfast, and a well stocked gym. Couldn’t have asked for more.
I highly recommend this hostel! the view is magnificent, the breakfast is very good and the atmosphere is pleasant. super stay !!
We absolutely loved our stay here and wish we could stay longer. From the moment we arrived I felt completely relax and settle into the beauty and magic of this place. The staff are amazing and make you feel so welcome. The breakfast is great and dinner too. There is always someone available to help. There is true passion for environmental conservation here and it is reflected in their practice. Great location just far enough from town but close enough to easily access. Full day tour was great
place was beautiful, the nets and hammocks are great. beautiful sunset. only down side is the beds.they are really hard, I had a top bunk and the ladder fell when I went down.
Super chill and perfect for relaxing. The guy at the reception was super chill
Really nice hostel, it’s a little bit for out from the town although the views are worth it. Very cool place to chill at & the pizzas & burritos are great too.
Excellent value for money, a great hostel for low budget travelling. The free breakfast was also very tasty. A bit further away from the centre of Minca, but only a 15min walk to the centre. The location is very relaxing and the views from the hostel are amazing. Would definitely come back!
The property has lots of areas to hang out in, and comfy nets with beautiful views of the sunset. It’s nice and social and the restaurant has good affordable food with a great free breakfast. The road to the hostel is pretty crazy on a motorbike, but not too far from town to walk. My only complaint is that the beds are rock hard, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep.
big hostel, not too easy to socialize as a solo traveler but staff was helpful, the food really good, rooms very clean and the view from the hammocks is jus stunning. + the gym, the birdwatching tour and the pizza; - the atmosphere as solo traveller, bring mosquito spray, it’s a bit of a walk. Overall I would still recommend staying here for 2-3 nights and have a relaxed time! :)
