Hostel was foul. Kitchen was disgusting with clogged drains, sinks full of dirty water, toilets were the same full of p*** etc and showers too. Commons were not cleaned everyday. I had book for several nights and was thoroughly disgusted. My worst experience travelling. Only upside was the double beds in the dormitories.

Super Betten, sehr breit, mit Vorhang und Spind. Bei unseren Aufenthalt waren vorallem locals dort am Urlaub machen. Eigentlich ein cooles Hostel, auch das Personal ist super freundlich und hat uns schon vor Ankunft kontaktiert. Die Toiletten waren leider nicht so schön, oft fehlte Toilettenpapier.

A few things stuck out to me about this place that made it not so great. Firstly the bathrooms were dirty, the toilets were just always nasty and one that just has no seat. The rooms have AC but you have to ask them to turn it on because they don’t give you the remote. So if you want to adjust it later, too bad. There are no hooks anywhere so you can’t even hang your towel properly when showering or in your room. Overall not a great experience.

Great hostel, but… WARNING! we chose this hostel as we keen to raft, and we were sold level 5 rafting by the hostel. However, when we got onto the river we were told it was only level 3 rafting due to the level of the water. When checking out the hotel, we were unable to negotiate a discount and in the end we paid for ‘level 5 rafting’ (4x the cost of level 3) Low water level sounds like a seasonal problem and the fact that the hostel failed to mention this at all felt quite dishonest.

Bon hostel, avec une piscine qui fait du bien car les journées peuvent être très chaudes à San Gil. Petit bémol sur une employée qui nous a fait payer une boisson que nous n’avions pas du tout consommée, malgré des explications elle est restée très désagréable avec nous.

The hostel itself was lovely, and I really enjoyed connecting with fellow travelers from around the world. My only complaint, word of caution really, is that if you want assistance, hostel staff will provide it in Spanish or English. But if you’ve done your research, you may need to be very clear that you already have plans, or even avoid discussing entirely what you plan to do, to avoid aggressive upsell, steering towards alternatives, and making calls you don’t want on your behalf.

Très bel hostel, les dortoirs sont climatisés. Chaque lit a un grand casier, une lampe perso et 2 prises : tout ce qu'on aime! Les parties communes sont top, coin salon pour chiller, terrasse, piscine et grande cuisine. Le petit-déj proposé en supplément est excellent et le personnel super sympa!

we had a great 3 nights stay in 4 bed dorm . comfy double beds with curtians and aircon . great facilities ,great loction in San Gil close to the park and supermarkets. the staff are super firendly and helpful! would defo recommend to stay for your trip in San Gil

Super nice hostel with great staff. When we arrived we were sat down and given all the information possible about the activities and how to book them etc. It was super easy to book activities all we had to do was show up. They had stuff going on every night we were there. There was cheap food at the hostel - burger night, pizza night, etc. I loved all the games, ping pong, pool, and bar area. One of the coolest hostels I’ve stayed in.

The hostel is located slightly away from a lot of food places but its only a 5 minute walk, so not a big deal. The hostel has a small bar, good breakfast (love the waffle), a clean pool, and a lot of space. It is pretty quiet at night, which I like. The kitchen is large with 8 burners fully functional. The staff are very helpful. Joss is the man. He helped me plan my day, provide great info, and always on top of everything. Some of the things you can do in Chicamocha, Joss has an answer.

El hotel monkey origen es sencillo pero bello, sus habitaciones cómodas y camas confortables, las instalaciones adecuadas. El servicio al cliente excepcional y la limpieza perfecta. Me hispedaría nuevamente allí. Mi decepción es con el monkey tío, el hotel es bello, las habitaciones hermosas y perfectas, la atención es buena pero... Mi total inconformidad es por el restaurante, demorado y los alimentos no son buenos, relación calidad precio pésima. No recomiendo su restaurante, fatal!

Die Betten im Dorm waren mega, die größte Matratze die ich je in einem Einzelbett hatte. Insgesamt fand ich es etwas laut im Hostel, aber das lag mehr am Lärm der Stadt, dem man in San Gil quasi überall ausgesetzt ist. Auch dass den ganzen Tag über (laut) Musik im Poolbereich lief fand ich etwas nervig, aber insgesamt war es ein angenehmer Aufenthalt dort.

Excelente hostel, buenas cocinas, amplias, muy cerca al centro, bueno lugar para conocer gente …

My dorm was $4 so it’s unbeatable there. Hostel is huge, spread out but it a nice way Beds super comfy and those double size mattresses Hostel offers tours but if you look yourself they are 10 to 20% cheaper

Had a great time at this hostel. The location is close to everything and staff are wonderful. The tour co for rafting offered here are amazing highly recommend the Suarez river rafting it was a blast.

The Dorm beds are big! Love the privacy and environment. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable of the town. They had a Huge Kitchen to cool in.

Je suis venu en septembre 2024 et ai passé un super séjour. Les chambres et lits (qui ressemblent à des capsule) sont géniaux avec tout le confort pour bien s'installer et se reposer. Toute l'équipe est disponible et très gentil pour répondre à vos questions et vous aider. L'auberge propose aussi de réserver de nombreuses activités.

Beds are amazing - pretty much double!! Insane. The hostel was quiet, but I think that’s similar to all of the hostels around as we’re in low season. The place is huge. Would recommend

Recommend 10/10, staff will make sure that you know how to visit San Gil and its surrounding the best way! Hostel súper clean, no real vibe but low season (we were 2 in the hostel) Dorms are super spatious and the double bed are a big +!!! Not the best mattress tho! Kitchen is well equiped too. Bathroom are ok, a little bit far from the dorms in my opinion. Overall would come back thank you trip monkey !!

Loved my stay at Trip Monkey Hostel! Would 100% recommend to spend your time here in San Gil. Great facilities and super nice employees!

I wish there was some sort of 11/10 button to rate this hostel! Our room was very comfortable, the facilities were outstanding, it was spotless clean…but the highlight of our stay were the staff (Joss in particular). He was like a walking guidebook to San Gil and organised so many activities for my partner and I during our stay. Everything was just so easy! Thank you for the great stay Trip Monkey team! I’m sure you will love your stay as much as we did ☺️
