Islanders Hostel Port Barton

The only thing I would rate highly about the hostel is the kindness of the staff. The cleanliness is not good, we were in a 6 bed dorm and the bathroom was cleaned once in five days, as well as there being no toilet seat. There was an incredibly disruptive man in the other dorm who screamed all night as he was so drunk, to the extent girls ended up moving to our dorm as they felt unsafe, and the staff did not even remove him from the hostel. He stayed for four extra days after this.

The staff was great. My boyfriend and I got sick and they did a lot to help and accommodate. We ended up needing to stay an extra night and moving the day the van would get us and they were so helpful with everything. Also the location is so great and they will help with transportation if needed

There is huge sign out front that says property is closed by government and they are continuing operations illegally. Staff couldn’t give clear answer as to why sign is there so I would assume due to bed bug issue I see in other reviews. Not accommodating staff I personally found them rude, not much socialization. Property is fairly clean and good location but pretty much anything in port Barton is good location. Very suspicious. I would book else where as there is also very loud construction...

Super nice hostel with very friendly staff in beautiful Port Barton!

Islanders Hostel is one of the best hostels in Port Barton! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the place is always clean and well-maintained. The breakfast is both affordable and delicious, which is a great bonus. There are also plenty of fun activities at the hostel like karaoke, billiards, trivia nights, and happy hour so you’ll never get bored! I also booked an island hopping tour through the hostel, and it was such a great experience. Everything was well-organized,

Unfortunately, myself and other guests had bed bugs. While the staff handled it well — moved me to another room for my last night (supposedly bed-bug free) and washed all my clothes — I can’t recommend staying here. I’ve been travelling for 3 months and haven’t run into this issue before. The communal washroom area also smelled quite bad. Aside from those issues, I would have like this place — the common area with hammocks and yoga mats was really nice.

WARNING – BEDBUG ISSUE Very disappointing stay. There is clearly a bedbug problem here, and it doesn’t seem new or properly handled. Other hostels in the area warned about it in advance, and after staying here (Islanders), I was not allowed to check into other Hostels due to the risk of spreading them. Guests may unknowingly carry them in their luggage and bring them elsewhere. The place also seems to operate without proper authorization. I strongly recommend avoiding it.

BEDBUGS in the dorms! This is by far the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. There is a severe ongoing bedbug infestation, and the staff and owner are fully aware yet fail to take any action. I was informed that this has been a persistent, long-term issue, allowing guests to stay under these conditions is irresponsible and unethical. Guests are unknowingly transporting bedbugs in their belongings, contributing to the spread to other accommodations and their home. Avoid this at all costs!

Really place !!

The staff was friendly, the beds are okay, but: - very loud: they are doing karaoke every night. If you want to have an early night sleep, it’s imposible. They stop around 11 PM - very humid rooms: I was in the female dorm. Very humid and bad smell. You cannot see the mold, but it smells like it.

Nous avons réservé une private room sur les photos ça avait l’air d’aller mais en réalité pas de fenêtre une odeur d’humidité, irrespirable la nuit et en plus de ça juste à côté de la laundry room donc beaucoup de bruit difficile de dormi. Nous avons également réservé un boat tour via cet hostel et quand nous sommes arrivés sur le bateau nous étions plus de 30 contre d’autres compagnies où ils sont environ une quinzaine. Staff are really lovely and helpful. They carried the vibe every night with Karaoke as without them there isn’t much of a social scene going on. There were 2 hot showers for the whole hostel and they weren’t even guaranteed to be hot. There were 4/5 toilets for the hostel. The toilets had loads of mosquitos in at night as they are outdoors. The beds felt clean and the floors were swept several times a day but I did not enjoy the toilet situation. Water coming out the sinks was also brown.

BEDBUGS! They didn’t even care when we showed them the dead bedbug in my bed. No refund or not even a sorry. They were just nonchalant:( Also brown water in the showers..

Great hostel - private room was really comfy, clean and spacious. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Location is fab.

DO NOT STAY HERE! No aircon until night time meaning it was too hot in the rooms and no where else comfortable to chill that was cool. Floors dirty. S***** activity in dorms. Karaoke every night right next to the dorms. Outside showers and sinks lots of mosquitos. Shower water smelt of metal. Bathrooms dirty. Only positive was nice hotel breakfast for 300 pesos

For £15 a night we wish the rooms had slightly more comfort and bathrooms were more modern, the cockroaches weren't the best.

I had an amazing stay at Happy Islanders Hostel! The staff were super friendly, the 8-mix dorm was spacious and clean, and the shared bathrooms were fine. They organize fun nightly activities like karaoke and trivia, and breakfast is available for a small fee. I even got a personalized hostel bracelet at checkout; such a sweet touch! I’ll definitely return when I’m back in Port Barton.

Showers are so dirty, literally only 2-3 showers for at least 20-30 people. The whole place was really dirty.

Everything was great! Staff were all amazing and tried to get everyone involved. Easy to meet people & really good location

this is such a great hostel! there’s things going on at night like karaoke, staff are friendly and breakfast is good! only 5 minute walk from beach too. the wifi didn’t always work the best there and the showers was only cold but it was so hot there that it was refreshing haha
