À éviter absolument ! Des rats ou des souris dans la chambre ont abîmé mes affaires, et l’odeur d’urine était insupportable. J’ai même découvert des crottes dans le lit – l’horreur. Le personnel n’a pas tenu ses promesses et a tenté de me faire croire que j’avais mal compris. L’auberge est au-dessus d’une boîte de nuit (murs qui tremblent, impossible de dormir) et le ménage débarque dès 10h sans aucune intimité. La pire expérience d’auberge.

The front desk staff were friendly, but that was the only good part of my stay. The facilities were very run down and not clean. The room clearly had not been deep cleaned in some time because the mattress box was filthy and needed a vacuum. I wasn't sure if I was looking at dead bed bugs or rat poop or just years worth of crumbs. Not a good situation to be in right before bed. I would highly encourage others to stay in a hotel instead, especially for the price I was charged.

Bonne auberge, bon emplacement et personnel sympathique. Merci d'avoir accepté d'entreposer un sac entre deux réservations. Seulement deux bémols: le prix (que je trouve trop élevé) et l'absence de climatisation et de ventilateurs dans les chambres. Il fait chaud cet été et ça a rendu le sommeil difficile. Merci

Place was not very hygienic (bathrooms and rodent problem). Most other guests were older long term guests. Prize is very expensive for what it is but probably still among the cheapest in the area. Had a much better experience at other HI hostels.

Unfortunately this location is mostly a long term older person's tenant location. Wouldn't call it a Hostel. Very weird and uncomfortable atmosphere .. one male tenant kept approaching me .. he was drunk.. kept getting very close, touching my back and arm. I went to move and he told me 2 times to sit down which I politely moved with him approaching a 3rd time. Very outdated, old, musty and overpriced for what it was. Loud with the bar downstairs. Again very uncomfortable and weird.

A few of the HI employees were very rude; I am not a guest who is at the disposal of your ill-manners.

Lage ist gut. Personal sehr hilfsbereit mit guten Tipps für die Insel. Allerdings nur sehr wenige Travelers und viele Dauergäste, die aus allen Altersklassen kommen. Hab mein Zimmer mit einem mürrigen 70-Jährigen geteilt, der monatelang dort wohnt, zum Teil waren die Dauergäste schon tagsüber berauscht, haben rumgeschrien und nicht gerade den Eindruck von Freundlichkeit und Sicherheit versprüht. Kann dass Hostel nicht empfehlen.

The staff was really nice, the building needs a deep clean, there is a smell of decades of history in the carpets, the walls in the bathroom look like they haven’t been washed in months, the chair in the bedroom had a bunch of gross looking dried white stuff all over it, didn’t want to touch anything in the room. The walls are paper thin, the street and inside the building were loud we barely slept. The linens looked clean so that was a bonus. Would not stay again. Thanks though!!

One of the most dirty hostels I’ve been to. It has a rat problem and some long term guests which made me feel unsafe.

you get a free apple! towel included! BUT karaoke bar downstairs so very loud in the evening. beds make a lot of noise. generally not super clean. 1 night costs $70…

This place is not too bad. Better for old people pros - nice common room area with natural lighting, had the room to myself during my stay because it was the slow season. Clean bathroom, quiet environment. Cons - there was a mouse in the room, however was moved to another room which was good. No social activities, lighting was really warm and dark in the bathroom so doing your make up isn’t the best.

The self check-in worked great — the instructions were very clear and detailed. The staff seemed friendly and helpful, even though I only spoke to them online. But they were quick to response and even sent restaurant recommendations. The building felt a bit old and quiet, but everything was clean and comfortable. It’s a bit outside the city center, yet close to a big mall and easy to reach downtown by train. Overall, a good choice for a short stay before traveling on

The owner is super nice! Super clean place to stay and right in downtown so it’s super close to everything. Kitchen and common areas are great and the laundry is very convenient

Schönes, sauberes Zimmer, saubere Bäder und Gemeinschaftsräume. Die Küche war mit allem wichtigen ausgestattet. Nebenan ist eine Karaokebar, die man abends gehört hat, nachts konnten wir trotzdem gut schlafen. Während unserem Aufenthalt waren vorwiegend ältere Gäste dort

Auberge très bonne avec un très bon emplacement. Nous avons été très bien accueillis , nous ne pouvons que recommander ce lieu

I had to stay here last minute and had a lovely time, met so many interesting & kind people and felt very cared for and looked after by friendly staff. The facilities were not the most modern that I’ve seen and better plugs in the room would be ideal, but overall good value for money and felt safe / great location close to ferry port and town amenities. Would definitely recommend

Wir waren in November hier (vielleicht ist es im Sommer anders) aber, es wohnen sehr viele Menschen dauerhafte hier. Daher sind es eher komische WG Vibes statt Hostel Vibes. Die Wände sind sehr dünn und man bekommt alles von den anderen mit. Die Zimmertüren schließen nicht von alleine. Die Sauberkeit ist auch nicht so hervorragend. Als wir dort waren ging die Heizung nicht, was uns niemand gesagt hatte und wir erst im Nachhinein mitbekommen haben. Es war sehr kalt! Keine Weiterempfehlung

The rooms would need a little light for every bed. There was only the big room light so it was very dark and no little light to turn on in the morning. There was no coffee and only decaf black tea.

I stayed in a nice dorm room with lots of space. The kitchen and living area were a decent size. I would stay again.

I came to Nanaimo for a conference and needed a place to crash; this was a perfect solution and was a nice, relaxing environment. I was double booked into a room with someone else, which was a slight inconvenience, but the staff were very helpful in correcting the issues. The beds were comfortable, the lounge area was clean, and the location was fantastic! An extra tip: the Thai food place down the street is delicious!
