The Jam Hostel

I picked this hostel because it looked nice and had a pool, but I was really disappointed. The pool was green and had no steps to get in or out. The rooms and bathroom were filthy! Another room had to be evacuated due to bedbugs. The WiFi didn’t work, and the food was bad. One girl in my room got sick, and the staff did nothing to help her. They even cleaned our room and made our beds before we checked out, which was confusing since I still had over an hour.

There is an active bed bug problem here. I found multiple bed bugs in the bed frame and provided photo evidence. I later learned other guests had the same issue and that there have been previous complaints. The only solution offered was to “clean again,” which is not a proper treatment for bed bugs. Management does not seem to take this issue seriously. Very concerning and not acceptable.

I would not recomend. We felt v unsafe at one point due to a man in our room. Staff laughed and did nothing. We had bugs in our room. When we asked for a refund manager claimed we never reported the bugs??? Very bad experience

Cockroaches in the rooms and mouldy pillows. Do not recommend.

This is by far the worst hostel I have stayed out. So dirty, ants everywhere, sheets stained, WiFi doesn’t work, and very rude staff. Never again

Unfortunately we didn’t find this hostel worth the hype. The rooms were TINY for 12 people with only lockers outside for bags. No shoes inside policy was not enforced by staff leading to dirty stinky rooms. No vibe at all , could do with a drinks deal to get people together in the evenings . We’ve stayed in much better for half the price ! Staff were kind , pool was nice .

I would not recommend staying at this hostel. we booked online for a 12 bed dorm. When we arrived, we were informed they had overbooked and did not have availability in the 12 bed and had not updated their online system correctly. No apology was made. We then had to pay more for a 6 bed dorm even though the Jam had made the mistake. As they dont update their online booking system correctly, I would be concerned they may fully overbook and not honour your booking.

I went with this hostel thinking it had similar hospitality and vibes as Jam hostel Bangkok. Buts it’s not even close. Don’t expect any help if you’re ill and suffer from food poisoning like I did. I told multiple employees I was sick. Not one person asked if I’m ok or need anything. When I asked for water they refused. Get it yourself and also please fill up your tag before you come back. I could just die in my bedroom for all they care. That’s how it felt..

The outside looks lovely; however, the lack of pictures of the room is because they’re not nice. Our bathroom flooded and as there isn’t any bag storage, everything got wet. When we asked the staff to help they said they couldn’t do anything until the next day. Our door didn’t close, so it was very insecure. We stayed in the 6 bed female dorm (next to the dorm which had bed bugs, although we didn’t see any in our dorm) the room was above where one of the families slept and as the walls are paper thin you could hear everything.The door to our room was difficult to shut and so was often left open. The photos that are shown online make it look promising. However, while we were there, two rooms were infected with bed bugs and the people in those rooms were only given a refund by the staff, even though it was late at night. There is a standard rate for every room despite how some are brand new and some are mouldy and the walls are stuck together by tape, so you don’t know what you will get. Our door would not lock. Do not stay here. There are other hostels in Luang Prabang, and although the atmosphere and environment are very nice, the rooms adjacent to where we stayed had BED BUGS.

Bedbug infestation in one of the rooms which spread to another room on the other side of the hostel overnight. Staff only offered refund of one night if proof of bed bugs were shown. Pool is grimy and doesn't appear to be clean.

This was good if you are wanting a more chilled stay to use the pool/resort feel. However, we couldn’t use the pool due to it being cleaned the whole day. Dorm was good in the new building block but some guests in the room did not respect the quiet hours.

Food is mid, the pool is nice but looked a bit dirty but they were cleaning it. It did get sociable later on in the night. The beds were really nice and we had air con and a fan. The shower in the room was nice but outside showers dirty. Nice staff and cute dogs.

Great place to stay, and the staff were really friendly and helpful! Only issues were the window in our bathroom had the flu net removed by facilities and never replaced it so our room was filled with mosquitoes! The pool also has no steps or ladder to get in and out of with ease which has caused a significant bruise on my thigh. But other than that I would highly recommend to stay here!

Good hostel, stayed in female dorm, toilet was not so clean but overall was it i really good expreriance🙏🏻

Our stay was overall good. But had issues. The 6 bed dorm was awful, I have never been in such a dirty place, all the walls had cracks and were taped up to keep together. There were loads of mosquitos and it was hotter in there than outside. The room next door had bedbugs and they’d evacuated everyone and placed 7 people into the 6 bed, obviously wasn’t going to work and one girl had to leave at 11.30pm at night to go to another hostel. Loved this hostel, pool was amazing and so easy to meet people. I did have ants crawling in my bed but I got moved when I complained !

the outside area was great, felt like a resort. however the rooms themselves were quite basic and rather small. location was great though!!

Prima hostel! Zwembad was chill en de bedjes erbij. Eten en drinken dat aangeboden was prima, alleen niet alles leek altijd op wat er afgebeeld werd…. Beveiliging kan beter; twee meiden werden lastig gevallen door een andere kamergenoot en ze gingen dit melden of er een mogelijkheid was voor verplaatsing, alleen het hostel deed er verder niks mee dat was alleen jammer… Gelukkig werden de meiden geholpen door twee andere hostel-genoten.

A nice, chill hostel where you could relax by the pool all day if you wanted too. Nice beds and big lockers. Staff were helpful and accommodating.

A nice hostel with good social area and pool. Bathrooms full of mosquitos though and not the cleanest. Bedrooms are also pretty cramped.

Comfy bed but stained sheets, ants all over the bathroom one morning, very noisy and super thin walls meant I didn’t sleep much, room had cobwebs everywhere and the walls seemed to be patched up with sellotape. Staff were helpful with booking trains.
