Hostel Life is Good

Okay lodgings but owner seems more suited to running a prison camp than a hostel. Incredibly rude man, and when I pointed out that the washing they did was still damp and thus smelled, instead of an apology or refund I received an abusive response. I was called a ‘butthead’ and a ‘moron’ because apparently I had been ‘oppressing him’ by asking too many questions about logistics around getting to the hostel, and changed the time of my ferry. First of all: rude!! Honestly we never experienced such weird interactions with the owner of any hostel we’ve stayed at before. In the description of the hostel it is mentioned that they will pay for your tuktuk to get from the ferry to the hostel. When we asked to get the money back after our stay, the owner resisted this because apparently they have contracts with the drivers and it should be noted in the description that only HE pays them. Location is okay. hostel it’s self is clean and quite pretty. The prices are high but ac is included. The receptionist was really kind and helpful. we found a cockroach in our room so we went straight away to the manager to ask for a refound or at least a discount. Her answer was that it’s normal cause we r staying in a tropical country so there is no discount. Honestly for the price of a private room it was disappointing. Very rude host! Tried to MANSPLAIN how the Hostelworld app works. Always with an attitude. Told us we had 2 bathrooms only for us, but there were constantly other people using it. Trying to sell his hostel as the “best”, lack of character. Avoid

This was by far one of the most unwelcoming hostels I have encountered in 11 months of travelling. Cons: no kitchen but instead expensive food and no brekky included, male owner extremely rude (telling me a hostel is just a roof to sleep under and what makes me so special to think I can use the sink), they threw my food out, far from port, vibes for an older crowd. Pros: a towel. Hostel layout is nice, female owner seems nice but less involved Don’t stay here when there are better options!

Probably wouldn’t stay here again. The owner was nice until you have a problem and then he’s not so friendly. There was a lot of ants in the room and when I asked about it, he’s was quite unfriendly. Also I came from El Pital and the owner was just moaning about them and it put a bit of a downer on the experience. Bed was comfy, I could check in early and the food was nice. So they were positive things but yeh I wouldn’t go back

The place is good but everything is really expensive. You have to pay for water, for coffee, for milk in your coffee and laundry is $10 USD for a bag. There’s also no kitchen so it gets very expensive. They could also use some more comfortable places to sit instead of all wooden chairs. The owners are lovely though and the food is very nice, it’s a good change from Nicaraguan food.

The staff is very kind and they have a really great menu. Seems to be very kid friendly as there was a lot of toys in the common area. It was very clean, and they have a really cool viewing deck of volcano concepcion. Only booked one night here but didn’t even end up staying. It was significantly hotter inside my room than it was outside (at least 10°) even after I had fans going for 2 hours.

Roman and Barbora run a wonderful hostel with amazing staff and a perfect location to explore the island of Ometepe. The food is of great quality and Roman has some excellent and unique cocktails on the menu. They know all the hidden gems, so don’t forget to ask them about anything you are curious to know!

für 2 nächte voll easy! freundliches personal, leckeres essen! länger würde ich nicht bleiben, da das hostel mitten im nirgendwo ist und nicht sehr viel los ist.

Wonderful place run by wonderful people! Great food, comfortable facilities, very reasonable price. They’ll help arrange anything you need, from scooter rentals to tours. The only downside of our stay was that the sinks barely worked and the toilets stopped working on two occasions.

Amazing! The owners are lovely, Friendly and helped us a lot giving us many tips for activities around the island. Location is perfect to visit left part of the island and home to Conception which starts early at 6.30am. The place is immersed in nature, clean rooms, new mattresses, cozy common space with cute bar. Really recommended!

Owners Roman and Barbara were fanatic - super helpful in every possible way. The hostel was clean and I felt right at home. I would come back without hesitation!

Such a vibe, clean and amazing food!

Owner was very helpful. Staff was kind. Breakfast was awesome. Good value flr stay but MAKE SURE you get a scooter (or other) as you will be far from most activities. It is however a prime location for the big hike.

Very nice people working in the hostel and beuatiful garden. Room did just have a window towards the common area, so that you could hear everything and smell the smoke.

We had an amazing time at the hostel life is good. We stayed for 10 days and got to know the owners fairly well. They are very kind, caring, incredible people, their hospitality is unmatched! The food they make in house is delicious! The fact that they can facilitate any tour or rental is very convenient and helpful too. The atmosphere is calm, relaxing, secure. It was like home away from home. Highly recommend staying here.

Walking distance from the Moyogalpa port. Owners are helpful and the food is very nice. I did miss some facilities to make coffee and tea yourself, or a fridge.

Great place by the port, but far from most activities on the island. Owners were incredibly nice and helpful but overall, would look to stay somewhere closer to Balgüe next time just for convenience sake. For our short visit to the island, this place was perfect.

Super hostel tenue par un couple adorable. Le soir on y trouve une ambiance famille autour du bar. Dommage cependant qu’il n’y ai pas de cuisine ce qui oblige un peu à manger au restaurant de l’hostel (mais qui est très bon) Le petit mirador sur le toit est super pour regarder le coucher de soleil le soir

We had a really nice stay here, the owners were beyond lovely and gave some amazing recommendations for activities and hiring mopeds. The food was really nice (try the chicken tikka masala). Nice common areas to sit and chat and the property was very clean. The only negative was it was a bit far from most of the activities on the island but it made it easier for the ferry on our last day

Schönes Hostel mit tollem Restaurant und nettem Personal. Ich fand die Betten leider nicht sehr bequem. Das Kissen war dünn und unter dem Bezug in Plastikfolie eingepackt. Außerdem stark chemischer Geruch nach dem Putzen, der die ganze Nacht geblieben ist.

Very nice owner. The location is calm and close to the port and a bit far away from the nice spots of the island but you need a scooter anyways

Ein sehr schönes und gepflegtes Hostel was von einer kleinen Familie geführt wird. Das Privatzimmer war super sauber mit hochwertiger Matratze und bequemen Kissen. Ich habe in Mittelamerika selten ein so gepflegtes Hostel gesehen. Das Esser war frisch und super lecker.

Life is Good is a lovely hostel with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s located a bit outside the main areas, but easy to reach with a scooter. The staff is very friendly and caring and really makes an effort to make guests feel comfortable. Sometimes a bit very attentive for my personal taste, but always kind and well-intended. Overall a very nice place to stay on Ometepe.
