Offizielle Reisehinweise, die am 2026-05-14 geprüft wurden, stufen Teile von Benin weiterhin mit Warnungen vor Reisen in alle Gebiete ein, vor allem die nördlichen Grenzregionen, Nationalparks und Strecken nahe Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria und Togo. Wozu genau geraten wird

Alle Reisen in die nördlichen Grenzzonen, den Parc du W und andere in offiziellen Hinweisen genannte Hochrisikogebiete vermeiden. Die wiederkehrenden Risiken sind Terrorismus, Banditentum, Entführungen, bewaffnete Gruppen und instabile Grenzräume.

Nicht notwendige Reisen in weiter gefasste nördliche Gebiete vermeiden, wo die offizielle Warnstufe milder, aber immer noch erhöht ist, darunter Teile von Atacora, Alibori und Borgou. Wenn eure Route nahe Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria oder Togo verläuft, vor der Buchung und noch einmal vor der Weiterfahrt die neueste offizielle Karte oder den Text checken.

Im übrigen Benin, inklusive Cotonou und dem Süden, gilt erhöhte Vorsicht. Offizielle Hinweise nennen Kriminalität, erhöhte Wachsamkeit der Sicherheitskräfte nach der Präsidentschaftswahl vom 12. Risiko an der Nordgrenze

Spain formuliert breiter: Empfohlen wird, nicht in die nördliche Hälfte Benins zu reisen, unter Verweis auf häufige Terroranschläge im Norden, besonders nahe der Grenzen zu Burkina Faso und Niger. France hat einen aktiven Sicherheits-Hinweis zum Risiko an der Nordgrenze. Was das für Trips heißt

Eine Reise nur nach Cotonou oder hauptsächlich in den Süden wird nicht gleich behandelt wie ein Trip an die Nordgrenze oder in ein Parkgebiet. Länderweite Hinweise von Canada, Australia, Ireland, Italy und Japan raten zwar weiterhin zu erhöhter Vorsicht, aber die härteste Formulierung, nämlich Reisen in alle Gebiete vermeiden, konzentriert sich auf klar definierte nördliche Zonen und Grenzbereiche.

Nationalparks, Fahrten im Norden, Grenzübertritte und Strecken durch Atacora, Alibori oder Borgou brauchen einen extra Check gegen die neuesten offiziellen Karten oder Gebietsbeschreibungen. Ein weicher landesweiter Hinweis kann eine strenge regionale Warnung verpassen, die genau auf die Straße oder den Park zutrifft, den ihr wirklich nutzen wollt.

Politische und Sicherheitslage

Deutschlands Update vom 2026-05-14 verweist auf einen Putschversuch im Dezember 2025 in Cotonou und anhaltende Wachsamkeit der Sicherheitskräfte nach der Präsidentschaftswahl am 12. April 2026. Dieselbe Warnung rät dazu, Menschenmengen und Demonstrationen zu meiden.

Japans Hinweis vom 2025-09-05 hält verschiedene Gebiete in Benin je nach Lage unter Level 1, Level 2 und Level 3. Die höheren Stufen raten von Reisen oder nicht notwendigen Reisen ab und fordern dazu auf, verlässliche Informationen zu verfolgen.
