Mehrere aktuelle offizielle Reisewarnungen für Kenia enthalten Stand 2026-05-15 Reiseverbote für Grenz- und Küstengebiete. Separate Hinweise warnen vor Terrorismus, Gewaltkriminalität, Treibstoffverfügbarkeit, Flugstörungen und Cholera.

Was genau empfohlen wird

Reisen in die in den offiziellen Warnungen genannten Gebiete an der Grenze zwischen Kenia und Somalia vermeiden, darunter Mandera, Garissa, Teile von Wajir und die Grenz-Counties zu Somalia. Reisen in Turkana und Marsabit innerhalb von 110 km zur Grenze mit Südsudan und Äthiopien vermeiden. Reisen in die in den aktuellen Warnungen genannten Teile der Nordküste vermeiden, darunter Teile von Lamu, Tana River und Kilifi.

Nicht notwendige Reisen nach Eastleigh, Kibera und Pangani in Nairobi wegen hoher Kriminalität vermeiden. Wenn Nairobi trotzdem auf dem Plan steht, bei Tageslicht ankommen, bekannte Transportmittel nutzen und aktuelle lokale Hinweise checken.

Warum die Hinweise regional aufgeteilt sind

Die strengste Warnstufe ist regional. Mehrere Regierungen geben außerdem landesweit erhöhte Vorsicht für Kenia wegen Terrorismus und hoher Kriminalität. Für die Planung also sauber trennen zwischen den genannten regionalen Einschränkungen und der breiteren Vorsicht für Nairobi, Mombasa und andere Routen, die nicht unter die strengsten Warnungen fallen.

Orte, die am häufigsten genannt werden

Mandera, Wajir, Garissa und Lamu tauchen in den offiziellen Quellen immer wieder auf. Kanada nennt die an Somalia grenzenden Counties Mandera, Wajir, Garissa und Lamu für ein Reiseverbot, mit einer Ausnahme für Lamu Island und Manda Island. Das Vereinigte Königreich nennt die Grenze Kenia-Somalia und die nördlichen Teile der Ostküste. Spanien warnt, dass die Terroralarmstufe landesweit hoch ist, besonders entlang der Somalia-Grenze und bis zu 100 km ins Landesinnere, einschließlich Garissa, Wajir, Mandera und Lamu.

Turkana und Marsabit werden von Kanada separat für Gebiete innerhalb von 110 km zur Grenze mit Südsudan und Äthiopien genannt. Die genannten Risiken sind Terrorismus, Entführungen, bewaffnete Banden und grenzüberschreitende Gewalt.

Italien stuft Kenia außerdem wegen Cholera als gesundheitlich vorsichtig ein. Das vorliegende Material nennt keine Fallzahlen und keine betroffenen Distrikte, also bleibt die belastbare Aussage klein: Cholera taucht in einer offiziellen Gesundheitswarnung auf, und Reisende sollten aktuelle lokale Gesundheitshinweise befolgen.
