+ Estaba limpio y el personal es amable. La habitación es espaciosa y la zona de la piscina está bien pero no llega la wifi
- Esta muy alejado del centro, por la noche tienes que pasar por unas calles muy oscuras. Las camas no eran cómodas. El desayuno pésimo, solo 2 opciones, o huevos o yogur. Malísimo el desayuno. Relación calidad/precio malísima.

- CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE, YOU GET CHARGED TOO MUCH! At check-in. I was charged the price that I booked for plus 19% VAT plus 5% for paying with card. Foreigners don't need to pay VAT on hotel stays in Colombia if they are in the country for tourism and not longer than 59 days. No other hostel or hotel has ever charged me VAT in Colombia nor do they charge for card payments usually, and I've stayed in many. Cacao Hostel says that for the type of establishment they are, they can charge you VAT. They are a hostel, that's the type of establishment, and as I said other hostels don't do this. Also by saying they CAN charge it, it sounds to me like they keep the extra charge and don't pass it on to tax authorities. You either HAVE TO charge VAT and pass it on or you don't. In the end, after long discussions they gave me back the VAT amount in cash but insisting that they CAN charge it and of course without the 5% that I had paid on it for card payment. Besides that, the double room I had was very basic with moskitos and other insects in it, the shower didn't have warm water and the breakfast was very basic too. The neighborhood doesn't feel very safe at night, there are definitely better hostel options in Santa Marta. I really don't understand the high ratings this place gets, I was really disappointed and give it 2 points instead of 1 for at least returning the VAT amount in the end.
Tenía altas expectativas de Cacao Hostel. Fue el último lugar en el que me hospedé después de un viaje de un mes por La Guajira y Santa Marta que incluyó la Alta Guajira, Uribia, Manaure, Riohacha, Palomino y el Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona. Menciono lo anterior porque estuve en lugares donde hay zancudos. Pero en ninguno como en Cacao Hostel. En este hostal nos picaron a mi compañero de viaje y a mí así usara repelente o me cuidara como lo hice en los otros lugares. Fue desesperante ...
I had high expectations of Cacao Hostel. It was the last place I stayed after a month-long trip through La Guajira and Santa Marta that included the Alta Guajira, Uribia, Manaure, Riohacha, Palomino and the Tayrona National Natural Park. I mention the above because I have been in places where there are zancudos. But in none as in Cacao Hostel. Got double booked so had to find another hostel myself and had to contact the website to get my money back… very frustrating but did not see much of the hostel itself but wanted to share this experience
Pésima ubicación A precios del Centro Histórico.

Es un sitio para ahorrarte dinero, camas muy incomodas las duchas muy antiguas. Eso sí, es muy tranquilo,no hay ruido extreno (cosa que se agradece muchisimo)
It's a place to save money, very uncomfortable beds the very old showers. that's right, it's very quiet, no extreme noise (which is very much appreciated)
The hostel is good but it need some improvements, first time I see a hostel with not security in the rooms not even a key, the personal in the bar ask to us cleaning the table and taking the plates to the kitchen it was very uncomfortable, the social areas are bad taken, dirty plates everywhere, cans etc the celling in the bar is full of holes, during the raining we got wet inside of the hostel. The breakfast was good. Alicia was quite nice.

Good stay
L’hostel est très bien placé à côté du marcher pour prendre des bus/collectivos pour Taranga, Minca, Palomino… A 20 min à pied du centre. Le personnel est très sympathique :)
Our stay was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful!! Especially Alicia helped us with cancelling and adding nights to our stay and showed a lot of goodwill, which we are very thankful for! The rooms are clean and the breakfast was also very good!
Aircon was not working and staff didn’t really care
Me gustaron mucho las instalaciones y la atención sobre todo de Alicia y Gelen, quienes me ayudaron con todas mis consultas, todos son muy amables y dispuestos a colaborar, por supuesto volveré.
I really liked the facilities and the attention especially from Alicia and Gelen, who helped me with all my consultations, all of them are very kind and willing to collaborate, of course I will come back.

Very worth the price! And free breakfast was great! Very chill hostel. Slight points down for location, it’s a short walk into the main centre but I wouldn’t have felt comfortable doing that when it was dark. Staff were super helpful and kind though with everything. Would definitely stay here again
Très bon séjour, la piscine est un vrai plus et entretenue, la cuisine était bien équipée, très bien situé juste à côté du centre et des bus, les chambres sont spacieuses la Clim est allumée que la nuit.
Very good stay, the pool is a real plus and entertaining, the kitchen was well equipped, very well located right next to the center and buses, the rooms are spacious the Clim is lit only at night.
It was a great place to stay for a few nights and had a really good communal area. Staff were friendly.
perfect! We just stayed one night to catch our plane, but we had a wonderful time. The pool and the terrace are amazing to relax. The bartender was so nice and we had great fun. Beds are comfy and spacious!

Nuestra estancia fue muy agradable, disfrutemos mucho del hostal, del desayuno, de la piscina, del restaurante, y de los juegos de mesa. Mención especial a la atención del personal: todos nos atendieron super bien, nos aconsejaron cuando teníamos preguntas, y fueron simpáticos. Agradezco mucho la ayuda de Alicia cuando tuve problemas con la recepción de un paquete, fue super maja e involucrada en resolver la situación.
Our stay was very pleasant, we enjoyed the hostel, breakfast, pool, restaurant, and board games very much. special mention to the attention of the staff: everyone treated us super well, advised us when we had questions, and were friendly. i am very grateful for alicia's help when i had problems with receiving a package, she was super nice and involved in solving the situation.

- No me gustó que hacen mucho ruido, tiran las puertas de las habitaciones y se escucha todo, los baños comunes, para el valor que me dieron no está bien que no tenga baños privado, ni TV, además las baldosas de la habitación huecas y otras dos partidas
The hostel was very nice. The rooms we're Clean, the commin areas and the pool really good and the staff was nice. Breakfast was good too. the location is really close to the bus station when wanting to go to Tayrona Park or Minca.

- Non mi è piaciuto che dal prezzo effettivo di booking (la stanza separata) ha preso 19 % in più per le tasse, quindi veramente assurdo, in altri hotel a Santa Marta, che era molto più belli era prezzi minore, senza le tasse in più
