+ The food is good, but the portions are too small.
- The dorms rooms are on top of the private rooms, separated only by bamboo. It’s a stupid design. Do not book the private room unless you want people walking on top of you all night. You’d be better off staying in the room. The guy with the tattoos who works there is a knob. He stays up late drinking with guests and doesn’t care when you ask them to keep the noise down.
+ Beautiful location
- Disappointing Stay at Origen Hostel – Poor Service and Management We booked 4 nights at Origen Hostel (€80/night for a private room, €20/night for a dorm bed) but left after 3 due to serious issues. No refund was offered for the unused night. Initially friendly, the staff became dismissive when problems arose, with the manager deflecting blame and patronizingly suggesting we “think about things.” Key Issues: Lack of Amenities: No running water for 3 days (no showers or toilets), and 2 days without electricity or internet. While we understand that the hostel is located in the rainforest and the broader area experienced outages, other properties in the vicinity did not seem as affected. And even if all were affected, the hostel staff offered no proactive communication, no explanations, and no solutions (e.g., providing drinking water, water for flushing toilets, or backup power options). Poor Hygiene: Filthy floors, muddy pathways, no clean towels for 3 days, and no cleaning despite high private-room rates. Lack of Accountability: Staff blamed external factors and guests for not requesting essentials like towels, which should be standard. Substandard Breakfast: The same plain breakfast (3 toast slices, scrambled eggs) every day, with no variety or quality. While the location was beautiful, poor management and disregard for guest needs made this stay frustrating. I cannot recommend Origen Hostel and advise travelers to seek better alternatives.
+ I would absolutely not recommend this place. This was the worst service and attitude towards a paying customer that I ever faced in 45 countries I traveled to.
- I got to the accommodation after dark and there was no electricity, which, let's say, wasn't the property's fault. This is, after all, a jungle setting and power can be limited. However, I quickly realised there was no running water, either. The receptionist was busy drinking and playing society games with some guests instead of fixing (or even caring about) issues - he was unavailable to even discuss the topic. He said the water issue will be fixed first thing in the morning. He also said breakfast would be served at 7 AM. I wanted to go to Tayrona NP at 8 AM, so I really needed the water issue fixed and the included breakfast to be ready before 7:30, at the latest, so I could get there in time to start my hike. I only had 2 days in Tayrona and wanted to do another activity, as well. In the morning, nobody was even up at 7 and when they did wake up (hungover), they didn't care about either the water or the breakfast or the fact that I had a plan to visit the park. After waiting for almost an hour of absolutely nothing happening, I decided to pack my bags and move to another accommodation, which proved to be the best decision ever. However, this made me lose one of my only 2 days in Tayrona and I could not enjoy the activities I went there to do. This was the most rude treatment I ever received from the staff while staying at any accommodation, ever. The location of the property is very isolated - I was aware of this (it was the whole point of staying there), but be aware you may have to ride a motorbike in the jungle, in the dark, through very slippery offroad paths to get there (pickup not included in property rate). This was probably the only fun part of this whole story, but I would not repeat it, for sure.
+ A luxury boutique hotel for 10$ a night sounds too good to be true? You’re right it is
- The place is a total scam, we left after the first night first chance we got, and didnt get any refunds on the remaining night. the beds were moist and dirty, there were bugs in the bedsheets, didn’t look like they changed em at all. There was no running water, toilets clogged, water pouring into the restaurant area during rainfall, dogshit at the pool, the dog seemed really sick, not even a fan in the dorm room, and and and…. But most of all, we felt really uncomfortable there, the staff was perma-stoned and unfriendly. Just don’t go! Be advised

- Apparently they closed the hostel for some time and didn't bother to inform us or cancel our reservation so we had to find something else at the last minute

Middle of the jungle with some AMAZING views! Destination hostle and perfect place to start your Tayrona Park hike. Sleeping in a dorm with the mosquito nets and in the outside is so fun!
Amazing venue, with all the fascilities needed and cool dorms. Also the staff was very friendly, overall great vibes!
Lovely hostel with great facilities and the food is really good. They provide a moto service so you can get up to the hostel from the main road too
The valley hostel was a great place to stay not far from the national park. It’s a little hike from the main road but there are moto taxis available. The showers are refreshingly cold which is nice because it’s so humid. Food is good but drinks a little pricey. Would recommend staying here but bring earplugs, the bugs and birds are loud at night time and sunrise.
Stayed here three nights and great for relaxing at the hostel with people or using to travel into Tayrona National Park. It’s a 10 minute walk from the road (with four small streams to cross) or you can get a motorcycle. We loved the pool, good food/drink options, and enjoyed the open air (with mosquito net) dorms as it felt very unique.
Alejandra, one of the volunteers, was really lovely and helpful with any issues we had! Unfortunately there were bed bugs in the dorm - we reported this to reception who informed us they were at full occupancy so we paid extra for a private dorm. We saw that they just put new people in our previous dorm without cleaning. Make sure to check the bed before you arrive. all the bar staff were great and the pool was nice. It was quieter than others but good for a chill.
Great place, Bekki was a great volunteer, so nice and helpful!
The location on the beach is very good and the rooms are clean, it is very social and the service people from Dallanaund Osbal are always helpful.
Had a really great time! Lovely staff and great setting, highly recommend
My stay at The Valley exceeded all my expectations. The place has multiple spots to hang out or simply enjoy the forest. Special thanks to Jose, Hector, Victor, Camilo, Duvan, Laura, and the entire hostel staff for making me feel like family and letting me enjoy every single day to the fullest. You're the best!
Really enjoyed my stay, it was quiet, the beds were comfy and the facilities were great
amazing staff, amazing views and defo recommend here for sure
I had a great time. the owner and staff do their best to give you the best time of your trip.
Hostel is very clean for. Lovely little pool. Food in the hostel is nothing more than okay, but there is no other options of food around. Jose in reception is sweet and helpful. Not a lot of pressure in the shower, but wouldn't expect more for a jungle shower. My biggest complaint is there was a party (kings night) that I was not informed about prior to booking. Music was loud til 3 am, impossible to sleep. Staff rolled their eyes at me when I asked if there was another bed further away, but no
Very good hostel in the jungle, very good experience!
