Barefoot Kuata Island

Las camas en los dormitorios comunes no eran para nada cómodas. Mi espalda sufrió (se entiende que es la opción más económica pero impacta la experiencia). Sería una mejora importante ampliar el menú de snacks disponibles, sobretodo para la tarde. El espacio entre el almuerzo y la cena es largo y una bolsa de chips o un helado pequeño se hacen muy poco. Dos veces intentamos participar de una actividad de snorkel guiado y no pudimos por falta de equipamiento :(

They have a bedbug infestation which they are not addressing. I got multiple bed bug bites and the staff were very nonchalant and and couldn’t care less. I had to request to switch rooms and ask them to wash my stuff for me which they were a bit reluctant with. They didn’t believe that my bites were from bed bugs which they so clearly are. I really felt quite upset that I wasn’t being taken seriously. I have heard from multiple travellers now about getting bed bug bites at this resort and they are a nightmare to get rid. I’ve had to fully disinfect and launder all of my clothes and back pack at my expense. I approached the resort over email prior to writing this review to give them an opportunity to rectify things and have been waiting weeks for a response, I followed up with them twice and still feel like I am no further forward. Would avoid this resort

Je tiens à partager mon expérience à titre préventif, car si j'avais su, je n’aurais jamais réservé Nous avons séjourné 3 nuits à Kuata, dans une Tei Tei Bure, espérant terminer notre séjour aux Fidji dans un logement "plus confortable". Malheureusement, cela a été tout le contraire. Dès la deuxième nuit, nous avons découvert quatre punaises de lit dans les draps et sur le matelas. Nous avons immédiatement signalé le problème à la réception le lendemain matin. Heureusement, par précaution (et expérience), nous avions laissé nos affaires en dehors de la chambre, dans la salle de bain. En inspectant le matelas, nous avons constaté des signes évidents de présence de punaises (mues et taches). Pour notre dernière nuit, l’hôtel a changé les deux matelas, mais malheureusement, c’était déjà trop tard. J’ai été piquée une trentaine de fois, du front jusqu’aux orteils. Les conséquences ont été importantes, tant financièrement (jeter des affaires, nettoyage à haute température en laverie, achat de sacs hermétiques pour isoler nos effets personnels) que psychologiquement. Ce problème a engendré un stress énorme pour la suite de notre séjour et notre retour en France. En guise de compensation, le resort nous a offert un mojito pour notre dernière soirée. Malheureusement, cela ne suffit pas à atténuer notre déception. En plus du problème des punaises de lit, le Barefoot Kuata est très cher. Nous avons payé 1 000 € pour 3 nuits, avec des repas obligatoires à régler à l’arrivée, tout en séjournant dans l’un des logements les moins haut de gamme de leur offre. Par ailleurs, la réception m’a facturé deux repas supplémentaires « par erreur », que j’ai heureusement remarquée avant notre départ et pour lesquels j’ai dû réclamer un remboursement. En résumé, je ne recommanderais pas cet hôtel. Le tarif est beaucoup trop élevé pour la qualité du service, et nous sommes repartis avec énormément de stress et de déception.

The property has bedbugs. I spotted one on my first day and reported it to the office, and the staff made me leave the office to talk about it so that the other guests wouldn’t hear that there were bedbugs. They promised they would clean the room and beds that day but didn’t, and over my time there several other people found bed bugs in their room. The food is very bad for what they charge. It is not appetizing and expect dinner service to take several hours. I once waited 1.15 hours for a meal I had pre ordered and had to notify staff several times to get my food. When it did arrive, it was cold to the touch. The rooms are very dirty aside from the bed bugs and I don’t think the bathrooms were cleaned once while there. The showers were in pretty gross condition, no one would sweep or wipe down the counters, and the smell from the bathrooms was horrendous.

Found bed bugs in one of the beds in our bedroom (no one was sleeping there and no one had bites so hopefully no harm). They changed us to a different dorm the next day to fully clean and spray the affected dorm, but we learnt that they had known about it about a week prior to our arrival. So I don't know if they didn't clean at all or just not well enough but they remained. Some beds are very comfortable but others (mainly the metal based one in the dorms) are quite uncomfortable. Water pressure is quite low in the dorm bathroom.

Got BED BUGS from the female dorm room, therefore definitely can’t recommend the rooms because of that and the tends are not really clean as well. The *STAFF* was overall okay. There were a few staff members who were really friendly and welcoming, whereas others were super judge and not friendly at all! I told them I got bitten by Bed Bugs and the junger employee behind the reception first apologised and asked if I were fine, I said it’s okay because we had to go to our shark dive and I wanted to deal with it later, to avoid a conflict before the dive. After the dive I told them I that I was still really upset and the jung employee was *super rude*, suddenly. He raised his voice against me said that he asked me if I was okay and therefore have right to complain. Which I think is still not okay to react this way, especially if you daily work with customers. Nevertheless, the manager handled everything super professionally, he was really great and they gave me 10% off. *WOULD I GO AGAIN?:* definitely wouldn’t stay there again but would go for a day trip to do the shark dive!! Other resorts were much better in terms of staff, food and the rooms for example *Blue Lagoon*.

When one girl in the dorm had bedbugs they didn't want to get rid of the sheets and everything immediately. They wanted to do it the next day (because it was evening atm). In the end they moved the bed out because I said I wouldn't sleep in that dorm otherwise. Next morning another girl found bedbugs in her bed from the same dorm. I did not see any in my bed but they were in my next hostel after I slept there for one night. So I probably brought them. Another thing is that they make your bed every day. It's just that I had my earplugs on the bed and they were gone when they made the bed. Probably they got lost somehow because who would steal that, but they weren't careful. And the other thing is that me and a few other girls I met all had stomach problems while we were staying here. We don't know if it's the food or the water but something wasn't okay. Nothing was done to make up or something. It was like they said sorry but didn't really care.

Zunächst einmal war mein Bett im Dorm zwar irgendwann frisch überzogen worden, jedoch schien dies mehrere Tage her zu sein, da es voller Staub und Dreck war und im Bettbezug waren super viele Flecken die bei Kaltwäsche vermutlich nicht rausgehen. Dann sind im Bett weiße Läuse vom Holz rumgelaufen (keine Bed Bugs!) Und die Schubladen drunter waren so dreckig, dass niemand etwas da rein gelegt hat. Es gibt nur Ventilatoren in den Zelten, aber das war wirklich okay. Im resort war teilweise Baustelle und ein Trampelpfad führt zum Pool und der Bar. Das Essen war in Buffetform und eher traditionell im Vergleich zu anderen Resort's, geschmacklich gut aber von der Qualität um Weltem vom Essen im Oarsmans entfernt und auch im Barefoot Manta ist es wesentlich besser.

Excellent honeymoon destination. Pros: Very friendly of most staff except reception, very good location, you can see coral and fishes on the beach just outside your room. Very good food honestly with live music, singers are very nice and friendly. Cons: It is quite expensive Not a full 5 stars facility for the price - what’s more, No lockers for the room…There were bed bugs which made me itchy… wifi is crazy slow and only available in the bar, too stingy. Suggestions for the hotel: you guys have good activities but don’t tell clients such as 9am sumit /cave walk; 2pm dance and singing performances; 4pm volleyball. We didn’t know all of them until found out it randomly after a few days. You guys need to write them on the more obvious place, tell ppl in check in and print papers to all room, because those are good things to add value to the experience so why hide them and don’t tell ppl ?

I could not recommend Barefoot more. We came from Mantaray Island, which had bed bugs in the dorm. The staff at Barefoot were so responsible in handling the bed bug situation. They took all our belongings and washed and dried them in a dryer. When the staff returned our bags, we found all our clothes folded for us. I was so impressed by how much care and effort the staff put into helping us. Another thing I really appreciate about Barefoot was how well organized and safe the activities felt. I am not a strong swimmer and I did the snorkelling with reef sharks. The instructor was very attentive and checked if I was okay during the snorkel. My other friend did the bull shark dive and the instructor made her feel completely safe and really went the extra mile to help her relax. Overall, a great experience with exceptional staff.

Schön, aber hatten bettwanzen oder was ähnliches

Stayed at Barefoot Kuata for 2 nights, while the location is beautiful I had some issues. First, myself and others in my room found bed bugs in our beds and notified the staff. Staff did not seem to care much and simply changed the sheets on our beds, which ultimately doesn’t solve the problem. The following night we found them again (one of us even took a photo to show) and again response was minimal. We were told the dorm tent would be “closed” however they simply just moved in a whole group of new people. So heads up if you are planning to stay in the dorm!! Shark Dive was awesome and location is great!!

Ich war zunächst sehr skeptisch nachdem ich die letzte Bewertung bzgl der Bettwanzen gelesen hatte, die nur 3 Tage vor meinem Aufenthalt lag, aber meine Sorgen haben sich ins absolute Gegenteil entwickelt. Ich sprach das Thema auch bei der Managerin an und sie ging sehr offen und ehrlich damit um. Durch das Inselhüpfen verbreiten sich Bettwanzen nun mal sehr schnell und daher haben alle Fiji Inseln damit Probleme. Das Resort führt daher genau Buch über auftretende Probleme und die entsprechenden Reinigungen in betroffenen Zelten/Räumen. Ich möchte andere Bewertungen Selbstverständlich nicht in Frage stellen, sondern nur bestätigen, dass es nun kein Problem mehr gibt und wer Sorge hat, kann sich einfach die Aufzeichnungen zu den Räumlichkeiten zeigen lassen. Ich denke es liegt auch an uns Touristen, verantwortungsvoll damit umzugehen und die Resorts zu informieren, falls man aus einem anderen Resort kommt welches akut betroffen war. In jeglicher anderer Hinsicht ist das Barefoot Kuata ein paradiesischer Ort und wenn man aufmerksam ist, sieht man an jeder kleinen Ecke die Liebe zum Detail, die das Personal in den Ort steckt. Das Essen ist ein Traum, der Banana Cheesecake der beste Kuchen den ich je hatte (ich hoffe ich kriege noch das Rezept), die Schnorchelmöglichkeiten grandios und das WLAN im Restaurantbereich kostenlos (nein, das ist nicht auf allen Inseln selbstverständlich), der Barmann ist zuckersüß und auch alle anderen Angestellten unglaublich zuvorkommend, freundlich und fröhlich. Das schlafen in einem festen Zelt (wenn man Dorm bucht) ist sicher nicht jedermanns Sache, aber ich fand es einfach traumhaft direkt am Strand zu schlafen und mit Meeresgeräuschen aufzuwachen.

An sich ein schöner Ort, aber sämtliche Zimmer/Zelte haben Bettwanzen! Dorms und Zweibettzimmer waren gleichermaßen betroffen. Trotzdem wurden die Betten sofort wieder mit neuen Gästen belegt, die dann natürlich auch das Problem bekommen haben. So breiten sich die Wanzen immer weiter aus... Ich habe mitbekommen, dass das Management Geheimhaltungserklärungen unterschreiben lässt um die Sache unter Verschluss zu halten. Geht gar nicht!!! Kein Wunder, dass es fast nur gute Bewertungen gibt, wenn Leute sich erpressen lassen. Eigentlich hätte ich zu den Bettwanzen gar nichts öffentlich gepostet - ist ja klar auch nicht so toll für die Unterkunft und ich will niemanden schaden - aber der Umgang damit ist wirklich unter aller Würde.
