Maui Hostel

The hostel itself could have been really nice for a good price. Nice rooftop, good location and vibe. Unfortunately one of us ended up waking up in the morning with bed bug-bites… we tried to tell the staff and showed the bites but they were very dismissive. We did not even get to change room, only bed, to a bed just beside the one infested. So, be aware of potential bed bugs and lack of help if it do happen to you..

La atención y la ubicación es buena, sin embargo tuvimos la mala experiencia de llegar a unas camas donde olía a pesticida por lo que nos entregaron la cama ya tarde, y en la noche tuvimos la peor experiencia ya que estábamos llenos de chinches saliendo de entre las camas. No nos respondieron y tuvimos que dormir en un carro rentado. Al día siguiente solo nos reembolsaron la habitación. Este problema pasó 7 meses atrás pero si tienen la posibilidad no queden en las habitaciones del segundo piso las pegadas a la calle.

The place isn't as shown in the pictures. They're either old (from when the place was new) or heavily edited. Rooms are rundown, including bed boxes which don't feel clean. Beyond the normal mess you can expect at a bathroom shared by 18 people, it's easy to spot old dirt and mould at a glance, so there's no deep good maintenance of installations. The locker I got assigned seemed weak (you could see it isn't fully covered in the back and not sure if someone could break it or unmount it from the structure since it didn't look professionally made). They let non registered people enter the building without checking and the room wasn't locked, which raises safety concerns. Also the listing says non-smoking throughout, which isn't true either, since people smoke in common areas. I've stayed in hostels in more than 32 countries so I just expect a clean, safe and according to description place to stay at, and this was the first time ever that I saw so many red flags when arriving to a hostel. Unfortunately I made a fast decision when booking it and booked 4 nights trusting Booking.com rating system instead of researching further the place. When seeing it definitely isn't worth a "very good" score I did further research and found out in google that they've also had recurring complaints for bed bugs. I asked the staff to verify this information and they confirmed they do have this problem and not exceptionally (they even normalize it when you point it out) and that just two weeks ago they had the last cases. It was already too much on the list of bad surprises and I decided not to stay there. I communicated it to the staff and they initially said a refund could be processed but afterwards they didn't honour it.

La peor experiencia que puedan vivir l aval a encontrar ahí está lleno de chinches en el área de los dromitorios tuvimos que abandonar el lugar en la madrugada porque fue algo asqueroso no se hacen responsables NO SE ALOJEN en ese lugar

Si es cierto que los trabajadores son muy agradables y se esfuerzan en integrar y hacer de la estancia algo mejor, pero son un desastre, son voluntarios y hacen lo mínimo posible, no se enteran de nada. La wifi va bien y está súper céntrico.

Excelente ubicación, atención y la suite muy cómoda. El hostel se encuentra en medio la zona más linda para pasear. La habitación suite me pareció excelente. Muy bien equipada y con aire. La cama suuuuper amplia, cocina con lo justo, microondas, y heladerita. La atención del personal excelente. Recomiendo mucho la suite. Me atendió Denise y fue muy amable. !!!!!!!! Cuando leí algunos comentarios acá antes de reservar tenía miedo de las chinches o no se que inventos. Me quedé hace 3 días y la verdad que excelente. Lo único cierto de todos los comentarios es que la ducha nunca me salió caliente ni tibia, solo fría. Pero tampoco era algo malo, sería algo a mejorar. Pero la ubicación, atención, limpieza y comodidad EXCELENTE!!

chinches en las camas. falta fumigación y un poco alejado de ado pero cerca de la parte central de playa

El lugar más horrible y esta lleno de chinches! PD: Me han respondido el hostel este comentario de la forma más ridicula, tengo manera de comprobar mis pagos mediante booking.

BEDBUGS in Room 5. When we told them about our bites, they said, well you guys were in Bed 2 and 3 and the bedbugs were seen from bed 10 on…well, I mean, a bedbug for sure thinks about not crossing a a certain bed number. We asked for a refund-not possible! Our pictures of the bites weren’t taken seriously & the hostel apparently dealt with the bugs from Januar ‘23 on: fun fact, wer were there the second week of February ‘23. Let’s say: they’re irresponsible paired with excuses to laugh about.

Sieht von außen alles super aus, aber haben leider in manchen Zimmern Probleme mit Bettwanzen und sie wechseln auch die Matratzen nicht

Top Lage, freundliches Person und die kostenlosen Yoga Kurse auf der Terrasse waren toll. Allerdings wurden wir in einem Zimmer untergebracht, in dem Bettwanzen waren (was die Inhaber bereits vorher wussten). Wir haben das erst beim Check-out bestätigt bekommen und mussten uns dann damit auseinander setzen, wie wir damit umgehen.
