The Common Hostel

The room I was assigned was infested with *bugs*. The staff was courteous in relocating me to another room, which also had the same issue. As these are private rooms, I cannot comment on the common areas. The staff promptly refunded me and I departed from the hostel. This experience was highly disappointing.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Common Hostel. Good location, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to meet people through tours and the group chat. The private room was decent, although for the price I think nearby hotels may offer slightly better value and comfort. Main downside was the shower/bathroom setup, which felt quite basic. Still, a good base for exploring Chiang Mai overall.

Het hostel ligt aan doorgaande weg in de oude stad. Hierdoor geen rustige gezamenlijke ruimte, want die ligt direct aan de weg. Het is een hostel waar veel digital nomads verblijven. Weinig kans om contact te kunnen maken met mede hostelgenoten. Ik had een privé kamer met eigen douche en wc. Die was heel schoon en netjes. Bij de receptie zijn ze heel aardig en behulpzaam. Het ontbijt was inbegrepen en prima. Ik vond alleen de gezamenlijke keuken niet fijn. Het rook er niet echt fris.

A lift is much needed. Cleanliness is too good. A little bit pricy but overall very good.

This hostel is good if you don’t want to speak to anyone, it’s very chilled out.

Sehr gute Lage von wo aus alles ziemlich schnell erreichbar ist. Personal super lieb und hat sich um alle Anliegen sehr schnell gekümmert. Minus Punkt auf jeden Fall für die Sauberkeit, hatte das Gefühl in den vier Tagen in denen ich da war wurden nicht ein Mal die Flächen im Bad abgewischt. Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren zwar 24/7 am Wäsche sortieren und am wischen aber die Spiegel wurden definitiv seit mindestens 4 Wochen nicht abgeputzt was bei der Menge an Menschen in dem Hostel echt nicht ...

Not a social hostel, beds were comfortable.

Die Unterkunft ist super schön, sieht aus wie auf den Fotos. Alles sehr sauber und das Frühstück ist auch lecker. Es ist nur kein soziales Hostel, aber wenn man bisschen für sich sein will, ist es perfekt.

10/10. Wish I would have stayed longer. Great breakfast every morning, super convenient location, great vibes, very clean. Friendly but not super social energy, which was ok with me.

Loved this hostel. Quiet clean. Not a party hostel at all. So was a bit harder to meet people. All in all I’d stay there again when I’m back in chiang mai. With a scooter, you’re basically 5 min from anything in the area.

Excellent stay!

Very clean, very safe! Ir just needs more social life! Not talking about partying but social events in the hostel so solo travelers can make friends. It’s a very nice place but if you are looking to connect with other people is quite difficult here. Other than that it’s very nice!

The Common Hostel is a great spot for someone looking to do their own thing, have an awesome commercial grade kitchen make their own meals, do their own laundry on site, and is lowkey compared to a party hostel. You have 7-Eleven 150m away, a cool vintage clothing shop next door, and you are a 5min walk to The North Gate Jazz Co-Op. Somewhere I'd love to remote work from.

Really good hostel, nice staff, clean beds, this is not a party hostel but a lot of people socialize!

Great place to stay for a great price. Clean and comfortable with breakfast included. Staff are helpful and welcoming. Location is close to the centre and lots of the main sights. We had a private room and the bed was comfortable, en suite was good and air con worked well too.

It is in a great location in the old town, spotlessly clean with staff constantly cleaning the place, breakfast buffet included, comfortable beds and quiet rooms to sleep in. It's not a particularly social place, so if you want a party hostel you should go elsewhere. But if you're looking for a quiet, silent, clean place, and with polite people who let you sleep at night (even in a dorm) this is the place for you. They also provide free and unlimited drinking water, tea and coffee all day long.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean area, showers, and toilets. Just a few steps away from great restaurants!

Perfect perfect perfect hostel 🌸 I just stayed one night for my train trip from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. And they have free coffee, tea, cacao and water. And they have quite good free breakfast toasts boiled eggs veggies and fruits butter jams, also rice and chicken with veggies. And also very clean dorms clean bathrooms.
