Royal Hostel

I recently booked a room at Royal Hostel Tirana which left me deeply uneasy and uncomfortable. I arrived at the hostel to check in and was alarmed to find that the state of the hostel was not as described with what I can only describe as a tense atmosphere (realistic looking 'toy guns' on the table, no proper reception area) as well as my booking itself being changed without me knowing. Absolutely terrible. Didn’t charge the correct amount. Put me in an apartment with random people, disgusting bathrooms, no towels, bed was black with some soot. Do not get this.

Felt incredibly unsafe and had a very weird vibe, we literally left after paying for our night… the front desk guy asked us if we wanted to go in a dorm like we had booked or a private room just for us (because there were old men in our dorm?) so he brought us to another building 5 minutes away. The whole building felt off and he led us up to an apartment where we found other people’s stuff ? Because we asked about it he told us a family was staying there in the same flat. Hidden costs not stated on the website clearly, really lovely staff though, very helpful and welcoming, I just wish I was informed more clearly about the real price of staying the night I don't know what "tourist tax" means, it's a hostel? locals don't use hostels? Just state that price on the website

Dont recommend to anyone, the worst hostel i have been. Toilet shower and sink very dirty and without any kind of soap. The beds were super rusty and noisy, pillow and matress really unconfortable, as the bed also barely had a bedsheet. Also very hot rooms, this resulted in very bad nights of sleep. Very weird and unsafe vibe, woke up one day and someone had taken my flipflops (were under someone s bed), also one day someone took the towel they borrowed me while it was drying (in my room).

Sábanas y cama con vello de anteriores clientes. Las almohadas y el edredon sin funda, que ademas estaba amarillo. El baño también muy sucio. No somos personas que busquen lujo, pero pedimos un mínimo de higiene. No lo recomendamos

no cambian las sábanas , solo las estira , no es higiénico , agradezco q solo fueron 2 días y nada más ... no regresaría

Wish I could rate it higher because the staff and atmosphere was great but the facilities really need to be fixed & updated. Great location and again, awesome people!

Gute Lage, aber leider hat die Austattung (v.a. in der Küche-z.B. es gab nur 1 Teller und 1 Schüssel) und die Sauberkeit sehr zu wünschen übrig gelassen. Das Zimmer hat auch nach Rauch gerochen.

Sábanas y cama con vello de anteriores clientes. Las almohadas y el edredon sin funda, que ademas estaba amarillo. El baño también muy sucio. No somos personas que busquen lujo, pero pedimos un mínimo de higiene. No lo recomendamos

The host Youssef is a chaval increíble, he was waiting for us when we came, he offered us a cigarette and fruit too. The House was functioning perfectly, not too fancy but all you need. Top experience in the heart of Tirana

I stayed in private room on 2nd floor in apartment complex, using elevator. Room was clean. Best location close to major attractions of town. Hosts Mustafa and Yousaf were very friendly. I changed room without informing Yousaf and informing Mustafa only who was not present but Yousaf tolerated it with patience so special thanks to him. Highly recommended.

Das Hostel findet man eher schwer, an der Tür steht Royal. Der Besitzer ist super freundlich, hat bei dem Parkplatz geholfen und war super erreichbar. Wir haben ein Einzelzimmer mit Doppelbett bekommen. In der Wohnung (WG artig) war es etwas schmuddelig, das Bad nicht so toll, das Zimmer war einfach und sauber. Für eine Nacht war es gut, Lage ist top!

Pleass recheck with hostel world, they do not provide the complete details of the charges, you will pay something here and then again pay more then what they mentioned on hostel world website. It sucks!! Poor service from hostel world

Shirley runs the place extremely well. Everything is very clean and well organised, but she somehow still has time to make everybody welcome. She even found time to have a couple of conversations with me (even though I’m not very interesting), and she made me the best cup of tea I’ve ever had.

Decent enough hostel. Close to city center and right by bus to airport.

This place is amazing. Ibrahim, the owner, and Diane, his 'right hand,' are friendly, helpful, and enjoy the work they do. The place is super clean. And the price! I dare you to find cheaper accommodation in Tirana! If I ever go back to Tirana (which I honestly plan to, because it's a 'must-visit' for any true globetrotter), this is where I want to stay. The only drawback I can think of is finding the location—it’s well hidden, so make sure to plan your route carefully before you travel.

Everything was good, specially Lisa! Sie was great, her energy is amazing, definitely she made our stay better.

It's a cheap hostel so you get what you pay for. Do not expect high quality facilities, but the location is great so depends on what you're looking for. We stayed there for our last night in Tirana because we had to take a very early bus in the morning (or night depends on how you see it XD) and it was very convenient.
