Conclusión: Si quieres descansar, no vayas.

I didn’t enjoy my time at the Wild Elephants hostel. The Manager was rude on to me on multiple occasions and showed disrespect to me and my friends. There was a weird cult vibe and I didn’t feel safe, I felt vulnerable. I have been bitten due to the beds having bed bugs. I would not recommend this stay.

Bed bugs! Plus the facilities were cramped and not clean, doors to rooms were not secure and there were no female only dorms.

The hostel is in a very convenient location, the staff was friendly and the bathroom was clean(no clue for the shower though). The big minus for me though was the fact that I found a bed bug in my bed , I killed it and I brought it to the reception for them to act properly. The girl at the reception offered me to wash my clothes and she told me that they would take care of the issue but as I found out they didn't even touch my bed(I left the sheets in a specific way and I found them not changed)

No pude dormir

ALL POTENTIAL VOLUNTEERS I’m begging you not to come. I came as a guest last summer and loved it, so I decided to return this summer as a volunteer. I arrived for a four week shift but had to leave after two (we’ll get to the later). Firstly let’s talk about the claim that we only have to work 25 hours a week. THIS IS NOT TRUE. You have to also volunteer for three activities, such as leading a bar crawl or cooking, and if you don’t they will ask you to leave for not being fully committed. They also get annoyed when you don’t want to attend the night time activities even though we are all exhausted. We get €20 (it was €15 until we fought for more) to get enough food for 25 volunteers for breakfast and lunch because all our food is meant to included. We are hungry a lot of the time because we cannot buy enough food to be healthy. I have had to pay for my own food basically every day I was there, which luckily for me was financially viable but for others it is not, as they expected and planned for a very cheap if not free experience. Everyone is getting sick and they could not care less. One girl had an allergic reaction and had to go to hospital and was taken by two other volunteers, the managers did not care at all, instead he complained that three people had to miss the daily meeting. PJ the manager of Wild only checked on the girl after two other girls left because of the working conditions and actively called him out for not caring enough. We were told to not ‘make a scene’ if drunk guests began touching us or others because it will make the pub crawl look unprofessional. This does not prioritise the safety of the guests or the volunteers. We are told not to say anything about bed bugs, cleaning the rooms that might be infected with no protection because no guest is allowed to know because it again makes the hostel look bad. Moreover, I did not receive enough training, was only told everything I did wrong and instead of supporting your learning they get mad. There is such heavy favouritism within the volunteers and managers, those who are favourites can get away with anything. I was asked to leave because the standard of my work was below their standard. I was told of three events that led to this. 1) I was told to deep clean the kitchen with some verbal instructions which I find hard to process because of my autism (I need to see the task visually) and it took my a few tries to get them to approve during the checks, I know my first try was not very good but I listened and kept going until it was right. 2) I needed to deep clean the stairs (again poor instructions) and again it took me a few times but I worked through and got them good enough within my shift and finished in time with everyone else. 3) I was on a cleaning shift (bathrooms and bedrooms) with four other volunteers, one who was poorly, one that was new, and one that was incompetent (multiple volunteers agree with me on this). When they checked the work it wasn’t good enough, I said I would stay behind and fix it, even though most of it wasn’t part of the room/work that I was in charge of (we all focus on different things per room to make it easier), because I thought that was being helpful and I was the person that knew the most about what to do so I thought I could fix it easiest. It was a long shift that I worked hard during it but apparently it was a reason to fire me. I didn’t receive any warnings and I never got a chance to get better, PJ was cold and apathetic when telling me and honestly made me feel worthless. I was told I had two to three days to leave the hostel. Luckily flying back to the UK is not complicated but there are volunteers here that are from places that are so much harder to make plans to go back home. Despite other volunteers offering to fight for me and leave if I left, I no longer feel welcome here so I’m leaving alone. To all my amazing volunteer friends who supported me, comforted me and got angry for me, you know who you are and I love and will miss you all xx

THIS HOSTEL IS AN ORGANISED SCAM. Do not come here. They advertise as being cash only and will still take money from your card regardless. This is a regular occurrence if you look across the reviews. They're also infested with BED BUGS. Will be reporting them.

Blood stains on the mattress. Clear signs of bedbugs. I checked out straight after I checked in. Filthy dirty. Only 2 toilets for 30+ people. The lovely "workers" are volunteers which is basically slave labour. No free time in exchange for a €7 bed and a cheap dinner.

Bed bugs, and unorganized staff unfortunately because it seems like they are trying hard to make it better. But if you are a teenager and you wanna have fun, it is the place to be in Bratislava. I couldn't get any sleep!

Friendly albeit unorganized staff. Great that they have common vegan dinners (5€). Not a place to go if you're slightly older/chilled. This place is more for teenagers who want to enjoy Partyslava. Ask for room number 8, it had a window; my friend was saying in number 6 and found it noisy AND GOT BEDBUGS!

Vibe-Analyse
