Ubox Samui Hostel

Quite a different experience than when I came two years ago. Staff were super sweet and friendly ( mostly ) but the hygiene was BAD. First night, there was a mouse in our room. After getting moved to another dorm, we then found bed bugs as well. The hostel was super quiet to be paying 15 euros, 500 baht deposit and to be not be allowed to use a unused towel 1 minute after checking out because I’ve checked out and it’s not paid for lol. BEDBUGS! The room was okay but not the cleanest I’ve been in, and two of the dorms had bed bugs including ours. The staff were nice about it and washed our clothes for free but god knows how many more are still there. Our friend later stayed in this hostel also got bedbugs.

Not a social hostel besides what it says online. My room felt dirty, stains on the bedding and curtain. Dirty mask left in locker. The door to the room didn’t close properly so always appeared to be open and my curtain didn’t close fully. Was quite loud being right next to the door but room was by female bathroom so we could not hear the street noice but the smell from bathroom was horrible. Someone clogged the toilet and it wasn’t fixed for 2 days. Bathroom gross but no bedbugs so that was good

Its not filthy but the atmosphere is dead. Stayed here for two nights and got covered in bed bug bites. Totally ruined the next few days. Would never again

I found a bedbug from my bed, got a new room. Overall it was a geat stay

Bloß nicht buchen, Bettwanzen!!! Wir hatten Bettwanzen im Bett und im nächsten Zimmer waren auch Spuren davon, sodass wir unsere gesamte Kleidung waschen mussten. Die Laken waren dreckig und voll mit kleinen Blutflecken. Letztendlich mussten wir in ein anderes Hostel wechseln. Einfach ekelhaft. Spart euch den Stress und sucht euch was anderes.

BED BUGS!!!

They had bed bugs when I was there but the rooms were nice and beds comfy

I had bed bugs… got no compensation they just moved me from the bottom to top bunk.

Darei 0!!! Sono stata lì 3 notti le prime 2 tutto bene, la terza notte sono stata mangiata viva della cimici da letto mi hanno fatto più di 100 punture! Non ritornerei manco se mi pagassero

THEY HAVE BED BUGS & NO WIFI IN ROOMS When I informed staff about it they didn’t seem shocked at all so must have been a reoccurring thing. Spoke to someone else that had stayed there a couple months ago and she also said she had seen bed bugs so it’s clearly been going on for a while and have no mean of fixing it The only positive to this hostel is it’s location

My first night I found a bed bug in my bed, so I let reception know and they moved me to another room. The first two nights in the new room were great but on the last night I found a bug near one of the lockers and just ignored it because I was leaving the next morning… and then I woke up with over 20 bites on my back. Would maybe steer clear until they have that resolved.

The staff are very friendly until you show them all the bed bugs, blood, makeup and toenails in ur bed, then they refuse to give you a refund and try to tell you that “there are no bed bugs in Thailand”, would not recommend at all

The place was infested with bed bugs, staff wouldn’t give a refund. The sheets were also stained with blood, hair and toenails. I wouldn’t recommend.

Good hostel. Didnt have anymore bedbug when i came (I had been told they had some like a week before). Clean and nice hosts.

Aardig en behulpzaam personeel. Hostel zit helaas vol met bedbugs…

Staff are friendly but the facilities weren’t good and not worth the price - my bed was infested with bedbugs, not always the hostel’s fault, was able to move rooms but still not pleasant. Beds looked slept in on arrival and had to ask for new ones as were covered in blood stains. Aircon didn’t work (either freezing cold or hot) and we were also woken up every night by a chicken across the road (not ubox itself) but worth considering when looking here. Will say it’s a good hostel for meeting ppl

Unfortunately, I had bedbugs in my bed, so I am bitten to death after the stay there. And that happens, but the staff just seemed extremely unbothered about it and hardly cared.

Our room had bed bugs and the staff didn’t seem that bothered by it. At first they just brushed the bugs off the bed/ curtain. Eventually they ‘deep cleaned’ the room, however I saw a bed bug in the room after this. There were no other rooms available to move us to and accommodation on rest of the island was sold out so had to stay there. I understand bed bugs aren’t their fault but I think they should have dealt with it better.

Door didn‘t work, like you literally couldn’t close it from the outside, and you had to slam it to be able to close from the inside. Lockers didn’t work either, couldn’t close them. Best of all is that there was bed bugs, who luckily kept me company during the lonely nights. Also no atmosphere, at the bar it‘s usually just older folks watching the footie. Yeah not much more left to say, pretty s*** overall, wouldn’t recommend.
