HUAKA HOSTEL

Horrible. You’re treated like cattle. At night, they literally lock guests inside the dorm area, and you can’t access the common spaces again until 8 a.m. I’ve been traveling around the world for two years, and I’ve never seen anything like this. Max is friendly, but his wife is unbelievably rude — she shouldn’t be working in hospitality; she’d be better off in a factory where she can’t talk down to customers. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

Aircon in the fairly grimy rooms turned off at night by the staff which resulted in an uncomfortable evening of little to no sleep in a stuffy room

Clean hostel with nice kitchen and garden. Only one bathroom for the whole hostel. Staff was really strict and i felt unwelcome in the beginning. Please read the low google reviews, I find them accurate.

The hostel is well located and the garden is beautiful however it's a shame that there is a strict curfew. The garden and kitchen close at 11pm which feels very early, especially in Argentina, and means you have to either go out or go to bed. There are no other places to relax. The staff are helpful but with so many rules the atmosphere is not as relaxing as we were hoping for from a hostel. A shame when the garden is such a beautiful space. Hand towels in the bathroom are also missing.

Very nice but a bit cold at night and no place inside to work comfortably. Digital nomads keep that in mind

Good location - just a few mins from the main square and about 15mins to the bus station. The owner is super friendly and most of the volunteers are really nice too. The garden area is lovely to chill out. The bedrooms are reasonably spacious. Could have a few more bathrooms. The breakfast is quite limited but the hostel isn’t that expensive which is good. Only issue you can’t have any friends from outside come and visit. Some building works but only temp. Overall really nice place.

The place is amazing and is the best price you will find. There is some strictness to this place but it keeps it organised and clean. More than a hostel I feel it is more like a guesthouse and when you are a guest I feel you respect the house and keep it always clean yk. I personally loved it, it feels like hostels from before where it is cheap accomodation and not like modern hostels like feel like hotels. I highly reccomend staying here. Staff was incredible as well.

Brilliant stay. Max was so friendly and helpful helping us to find somewhere to watch our football team, even offering his own house to watch the game! One of the best hostel kitchens we have used - super clean and well equipped. Walking distance to beautiful bodegas. Its not atypical hostel, almost more of a home stay, but a really perfect place to enjoy Cafayate. Free parking outside the hostel

Mega Hostel, unbedingt zu empfehlen. Die Küche war richtig gut ausgestattet!

What a little gem! This hostel was one of our favourites, because of the lovely atmosphere set by the hosts. The hostel itself was very clean and calm which was perfect for us. The owner gave lots of recommendations for things to do in the local area and were always responsive. The outdoor area was lovely to chill in during the evenings. Overall, a very welcoming and friendly place filled with lovely kind people! Would highly recommend staying here. :)

Es el mejor hostel de Cafayate sin dudas. Y uno de los mejores de Salta. Hermosa atención por parte de Valeria. Y gracias Max por toda la información. Muy completo Habitación compartida digna y muy muy segura y limpia. El baño brilla. Cocina completa, puede usar todo el día. Lo mejor es el patio, con las hamacas Me sentí en casa, es un lugar para gente tranquil, por eso lo elegí y no me defraudó. Huaka is a great hostel! The staff are unbelievably nice, shout out to Max, Hernan and Belidia (sorry if the names are spelt wrong), they made me feel very welcome and were really helpful in providing information for the area! Couldn’t recommend staying here enough!

We received like family. Gracias a ustedes !! The hostel is peaceful, with a wonderful garden and a good kitchen. Well Located and hosts more than receive you well, give you all the información you need to visit the area.

This is a great hostel with a perfect location and beautiful garden. If you are lucky enough to experience a barbecue you will LOVE it. I would 100% recommend the hostel, I just have 2 small improvements. First the bunkbeds are very noisy, every small movement I was afraid I was waking the whole room. Second, it’s very easy to get scolded by one staff member, they are very strict on many things. Just want to recommend that there may be a nicer way to say things sometimes :)

I had a great stay here. The staff were the standout point for the place as they were so friendly and gave good advice on what to do. Room was standard as was breakfast. Nice space, can't comment on how social it is as I came with a road trip group.

This is my favorite hostel of all I've ever stayed at. It's got everything you'd want in a hostel - hot shower water, drinkable tap water, kitchen, storage containers for extra food, strong wifi, the cutest outdoor area to hang out in. We ended up booking extra days here because we loved it so much. Wish we could stay longer!

Amazing hostel. The staff were so friendly and were always keen to help you with where places were in town. Nice and quiet, would highly recommend! We stayed in a private room with an ensuite.
