Met het cijfer wat hostel world gaf had ik meer van dit hostel verwacht. Ik had een female dorm geboekt voor 4 nachten. De prijs was goed net zoals het bed. Daar hield het ook wel op. Toiletten en douches waren erg vies. De laundry was kapot. En om het af te toppen, een meid uit mijn dorm dacht dat het oke was om een man mee te nemen voor haar plezier. Al met al, zou hier zeker niet heen gaan. Echt teleurstellend
With the score hostel world gave me, I had more than expected from this hostel. I had a female dorm booked for 4 nights. The price was as good as the bed. That's where it stopped too. The toilets and showers were very dirty. The laundry was broken. And to top it off, a girl from my dorm thought it was okay to bring a man along for her pleasure. Al met al, would definitely not go here. Really disappointing.
I stayed here for six days and came back for one night after being in Kyoto. My room in Kobe got canceled last minute, so I just asked if I could keep my bags there. They told me if I didn’t leave and take my bags they would call the police. They told me that I could have a bed if I paid more than double what I paid every other night. Defo not the 9.2 that was rates on the platform. This place was dirty and VERY loud, even with ear plugs the thin windows were right to the loud street and hang out area. I didn’t sleep in three days.
If you want to have the arctic experience: definitely book this. Stone cold bathrooms, hallway and shower rooms. Since the beds in the dorm are built against a window, you have a nice winter breeze coming in on your face as well! Feels more like a bar where you can also sleep, if you want. Just a cash grab in a bad location. Left after one night. They did refund part of my stay, which was very nice! Staff was kind!
The AC in the room was covered in black mold and the smell in the room was terrible. Everything was moist and smelled like the mold. The area around is filled with homeless people and an alcoholic traveler staying in the hostel and was tolerated by the staff. The staff was understanding and said they will clean the mold. I want to be honest. I’ve traveled the world for 11 years and this is the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. I’ve been to crazy party hostels, but nothing compares to how disgusting and smelly this place is the odor is overwhelming throughout. I rarely write bad reviews, but this was unbearable. The beds are poor for the price, and the only decent spot is the lobby, which at least smells normal. Staff are friendly, but overall I would not recommend staying here just for the social vibes.
Namba South Smell Museum: this place stinks, both figuratively and literally. The lobby, hallway and dorm all have a unique smeIls for you to try. The ventilation in the dorm was quite poor, leaving the curtain drawn on your coffin (sorry, “bed”) will ensure you wake up in a sweaty sauna. It is situated in one of the dirty areas in Osaka. The staff are fine, but not super friendly. Compared to other hostels in Osaka at the same price point, this was very disappointing.
Dreckige Zimmer mit schlechter Belüftung. Sehr abgeatmete Luft in den Zimmern, wenig Platz, alles sehr schmuddelig. Keine Empfehlung
Very airy air in the rooms, little space, everything is very dirty.
Only complaint bunk smells. They don’t wash the proper bedding just give you two sheets so sandwhich yourself in. So it smells, i had to leave. People were nice and facilities were clean though.
The patrons were unbelievably obnoxious. rowdy, and immature. Threw objects and took another person's phone. teased the poor person by pretending to toss the phone over their head. No hot water in the shower for two days, and the staff made numerous errors with my booking. I am from an area where theft is common. The hostel mistakenly thought I had checked out a day earlier and messaged me about my luggage left in my room. Stayed at many hostels, and would recommend you steer clear of this one.

No me pareció muy sociable, quizás fue la gente que estuvo en el momento. Cocina y zona común muy chica. Cerca del metro, camas incómodas. Pocas duchas para la cantidad de gente que hay. Staff muy amable
Enjoyed my stay here! It’s a bit outside of the main part of town, but easily accessible. Loved the social aspect of the common area & the volunteers organized a group to go to the clubs multiple nights! Female dorm was quiet, but a vibe. Only thing is I wish there were showers on the same floor, but the shower room/vanity is quite nice. Very clean!
A nice social hostel :) didn’t feel the safest on the street directly outside the hostel to be honest and the mixed dorm bathroom was constantly dirty. But the staff were super friendly and met some lovely people here !

Adrian and Abalon are great at what they do. Adrian came in super clutch and was able to extend my stay late at night (thx king). Abalon is an s-tier game show host. He’s inclusive, friendly, and attentive. shouts out to the crew at r hostel!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. The location was especially great, as it’s close to Shinsekai and very convenient. The staff were super friendly, and both the check-in and check-out process were quick and easy 😊 I also really appreciated that I was able to leave my luggage and use the common area after checking out while waiting for my night bus. Thank you very much for the great stay!😍

Great hostel with an amazing atmosphere. The common room in the evening is always full so you will find easily people to talk to and hang out with. The staff members are incredibly helpful and likable, too. A special shoutout to the volunteer Adrian, who was an an amazing guide for Osaka.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at R Hostel, it is a very social hostel with no shortage of people to meet. Alban went above and beyond to make everyone feel very welcome, organise activities, and give travel tips. Thanks mate!
An absolutely lovely hostel. It's a bit cramped, especially when it's full, but that also makes it easy to meet people. The staff are very friendly, it's clean, and the location is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

not the cleanliest of places. social scene was great, pretty small common area otherwise was a good hostel
One of my favorite hostels in my asia trip. Location is great, you get the authentic squalorly experience, japanese lingering, close to markets and metro, and feels very local. Social, always an activity to jump on and people to grab a beer with including Javi if he is not working the front desk. All staff are good vibes. Dont sleep on Osaka, not a layover city.
