Oldtown Hostel Otter

It's a nice hostel, really comfortable beds, even if they are quite loud and unstable. The toilet bowl was broken and the showers were not as clean. But it's definitely not worth the price!

Unfortunately, the room I stayed in had someone whose feet smelled very bad, and I couldn’t sleep because of it. There was no staff available to talk to or assist me in changing rooms. It would be better if visitors were asked to store their shoes outside the room, and if the staff could kindly remind guests to consider this for everyone’s comfort.

Bien ubicado pero el personal no habla español. No orientan. Me quedé en una habitación compartida era espaciosa pero no eran lindas las instalaciones. No sé genera un espacio para compartir.

El peor hostal en el que he estado, es caro para que lo que es, lo que pagas no lo vale. Todo es muy viejo, está en mal estado, huele mal, todo es muy pequeño(escaleras,elevador) etc, el personal es muy indiferente, lo único que lo ayuda es la ubicación. Las literas son muy incómodas, si se mueve el de abajo te mueves tú y viceversa, súper frágiles… sábanas sucias… los colchones no deberían de llamarse colchones…

Do not stay here. Property smells horrible. The second we walked in we were hit my an overpowering stench. Not only do the rooms look like prison cells, they are extremely unsanitary. The mattress was stained with urine and so were the pillows. Someone left drugs in our room. I understand this is a hostel but that a safety issue. The only pros are location, not worth it.

I got bed bugs after staying at this hostel. The cleaners came into our rooms during our stay to lightly clean the grounds and the bathrooms that weren’t in our rooms. The beds clearly were not cleaned well after each stay. Being that this hostel cost $70 a night, I’m extremely disappointed.

Super tiny room with lacklustre facilities. Safe enough and location is okay but value for money was absolutely terrible.

Most of the staff were rude. Not enough bathrooms for all the guests on the floor. No free travel unlike other Swiss hostels. A little far from train station. Subpar breakfast offering. Very cramped room, and put me on top bunk even though I reserved months ago.

Good hostel with a decent set of amenities and a very friendly set folks. The location is excellent and the vibe is welcoming.

Construction outside started at 7am and was so incredibly loud it woke up my entire room

Staff at this hostel is great! Rooms and bathrooms were pretty clean. However, I would’ve expected more facilities like a better kitchen or more bathrooms per floor especially at this price point. Overall though I think it’s a great place if you’re there for a short stay. Location is great snd very central

It was good. Would recommend. There was one toilet on each floor and 2 showers. The showers weren’t the best. You got lockers. Lift was quite small but at least there is a lift. In the room there was a microwave, sink and fridge. The breakfast was alright quite simple (toast and cereal). It wasn’t the cleanest but standard when sharing a room.

Good overall. Beds comfortable enough, decent kitchen space and small free breakfast and pasta/rice available too. Had a really bad snorer in my room which sucked. Showers and toilets also fine but would be better with more as only one toilet on each floor. Can leave bags if you arrive in time.

A nice place to stay for a nigth! Not much of a social atmosphere and the facilities are simple for the price, but i guess thats just Switerland. Very helpful staff and curtains on the bed. Toilets were nice and clean.

This place was probably nicely done in 2021 (you can see some renovation's done in that year) but not a lot of love has been put in since. Basics are kept clean but not on top of the lockers or in the windowsills for example. There are facilities in the kitchen but the dryrack is always full and the breakfast things are not checked for due-dates. The basics are there and the location is excellent but that's mostly it. Also I was surprised half the guests are looking for work in Switserland...

Nice place to stay in a nice location. Lots of older folks not just young adults which was refreshing. The ceiling was too short for my top bunk and the toilet in the room didn’t have a door lock.

For the price it could be better compared to other hostels I have stayed, but it is in Zurich so the price was reasonable considering how expensive the city is! Beds were a little uncomfortable but not the worst, the people in my dorm were all lovely and we got on well, it was nice to meet people to do activities with! Breakfast was very simple, a few more options would be nice! Being able to store luggage for no extra charge after I checked out was also a lovely perk! Would stay again :)

A decent hostel that’s close to everything! I’m pretty amazed that I get to meet a handful of people in different age group. The very first hostel I’ve ever stayed at where I met many elderly and I enjoyed conversing and learning from their incredible experiences! As for the facilities, you’ll get a free towel, new bedsheets and pillow case. There are only 2 showers with 1 toilet in each floor. Each floor has 3 rooms, so make sure you plan your time, especially when using the shower.

Common area ist okay, es gab keinen Herd und keine Sofas, nur Sessel und Tisch. Lage ist sehr gut aber Zimmer sehr klein, Hochbett bisschen instabil, laut wenn man raufklettert. Auch die Spinde haben bisschen geklemmt. Das blöde ist das man dich ein Wc und ein Badezimmer pro Etage teilt, wobei das Badezimmer verschließbar ist, dh nach dem Klo keine Hände waschen wenn jemand einfach das Bad verschließt. Finde ich nicht in Ordnung

Great hostel, very well located close to the Zurich Lake and to the old town Rooms and bathrooms are clean and nice. Lockers are huge and very useful, they offer breakfast everyday, and free tea and coffee 24/7. They are very welcoming and available ! I highly recommend

Good guest reception system. The breakfast is really very, but very simple. It could start earlier (people leave without eating) ; and be more varied, because there are many people and it runs out without being replenished.

This is not a nice hostel, definitely very bare bones and honestly not very clean. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to others. The pictures are as expected so it wasn’t a shock, but for the price I expected clean bathrooms and dorm. It is just not a nice place and I didn’t want to hang out there. It was okay, for a three person bedroom, it was definitely super small. First place where you have to take and remove all sheets. Checkout is 10 compared to 11. Strict environment but basics for what you are getting.

Es probablemente el mejor lugar calidad-precio si vas con un presupuesto bajo. Evidentemente el precio asusta al miedo, pero es la ciudad más cara del mundo. Incluye desayuno (donde puedes comer tanto como quieras), duchas y toallas, taquilla y candado para dejar las cosas antes del check-in y sobre todo después del check-out para poder explorar la ciudad sin cargas. Luego tiene una cocina donde te puedes preparar y comer una comida sencilla (micro) o algo frío de supermercado.

Fueron muy amables y es muy céntrico, me volvería a alojar sin duda☺️
