+ Location
- We were unexpectedly charged an additional 10% on arrival, which we were told was due to paying by debit card. Our room was located directly next to the kitchen, and we experienced significant noise late into the night, including loud conversations and the use of a blender until 1 am which made it very difficult to rest. The bathroom was not clean and appeared poorly maintained, giving the impression that it is not cleaned regularly.
Mit Abstand die dreckigste Unterkunft, die ich je erlebt habe. Im Zimmer hingen Spinnennetze, das Bad war ein absoluter Alptraum und insgesamt herrschte ein extrem unhygienischer Zustand. Das Personal kann zwar hilfsbereit sein allerdings nur, wenn man es auf dem „richtigen Fuß“ erwischt. Diese Unterkunft war die schlechteste auf meiner gesamten Reise und in keiner Weise ihr Geld wert. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Die Lage mag für Surfanfänger geeignet sein
I would say to stay anywhere else. While the staff was friendly and helpful, this hostel was the dirtiest one I’ve ever stayed at. It had a weird/bad smell everywhere, like mildew?... The shower looked like it was out of a horror movie. Bed was super uncomfortable, i felt the springs in my back. No social vibes at all. Good location otherwise. Close to the beach.
Preis-Leistung nicht nachvollziehbar. Viel zu teuer, wenn man bedenkt was man geboten bekommt. In der 1. Nacht wurde bis Morgends um 04:00 Uhr & in der 2. Nacht bis nach Mitternacht vor unserem Haus im Hostel, Party gemacht. Trotz ermahnen ruhig zu sein & die Nachtruhe um 22:00 Uhr ein zu halten, passierte nichts. Dies empfanden wir mehr als nur respektlos. Die Leitung entschuldigte sich zwar am Morgen nach der 1. Nacht, schien jedoch nicht wirklich beeindruckt & unternahm weiter nichts.
Pro: -sehr nette Mitarbeiterin Kontra: -Zimmer/Küche und Bad sehr schmutzig und alt -sporadisch eingerichtet -kein Platz für irgendwas -einzige Fenster mit Fliegengitter ließ sich nicht öffnen -Klimaanlage entweder nur aus oder eiskalt einstellbar -kaum Leute im Hostel -ganz komische Atmosphäre => Hab nach einer Nacht das Hostel gewechselt
+ Die Lage ist sehr gut und das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
- Ich habe für 2 Nächte ca. 450 € bezahlt, für ein kleines Zimmer mit einem Bett, einem Tischchen und einem Regal. Strom, Wifi und Wasser sind zwischdurch ausgefallen. Beim Einchecken wurden neben dem auf BC angegebenem Preis noch Steuern und 8 % für Kartenzahlung verlangt. Nach längeren Suchen auf BC habe ich das Kleingedruckte für die Steuern gefunden. FRECH!
+ Don't know what to say, I m glad they allowed me to cancel one night.
- Very bad value for money. Felt very uncomfortable at this place. Very old ammenities, dirty (saw the biggest cockroach of my life in the bathroom), felt unwelcome. Doesn't seem to be the best location either. I d recommend staying on the north side. They asked me to write a nice review which I understand since they are just starting out, but I had to be honest. Also, you have to pay 8 % extra if you want to pay by card. I ended up paying in Colones and they charged me around 10 Euros more than the actual price (including taxes) that was stated on booking. Didn't like that I had to move to a different room during my two night stay there either..

+ La ubicación. Está muy cerca de la playa y tiene muchos restaurantes y supermercados cerca.
- Estaba muy sucio, el baño tenía tela arañas y encontramos una cucaracha.
- L’accueil froid, le frigo non fonctionnel. Affiché en front de mer, mais ce n’est pas le cas. Pas d’espace confortable dehors pour s’installer malgré les photos qui annonçaient l’inverse.

I had a fantastic stay at Surf Paradise. Emilio and the team were friendly, communicative, and eager to help out with booking travel and things to do in Santa Theresa. They were also kind to let me change rooms halfway through my stay (due to noise) and took great care of the facilities. The location is very good with the beach nearby as well as restaurants and grocery stores. The atmosphere was very relaxed and overall a great place to recharge. Highly recommend!
+ I liked everything about it. I stayed in a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need and the apartment was cleaned every day. The staff was helpful and friendly. 5 minutes walking distance to the beautiful long beach. I can totally recommend this hostel and I will come back for sure.
+ The staff and owner were very nice, helpful and well organised. The guests were great to chill out with in the common areas.
- Unfortunately, I travelled during easter holidays, and with surge pricing I paid a small fortune for my room. For the price, it wasn't worth it. To be honest the guesthouse needs a bit of maintenance also.
+ They made the place ready before checking as we arrived early. That was really kind! It was also really close to the beach. The staff was super friendly and relaxed. We had a good time. Good aircondition.
- The rooms was almost all white and lacked personality. I would love some more colors.

Absolutely loved this place. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived. Friendly staff, clean room and bathroom. I was only here two nights but I felt right at home. The staff was helpful telling me where to check out in the town, and I had a great conversation with the owner, Diego. I will definitely be staying here again when I return.
Bathroom was probably the dirtiest I’ve ever seen in a hostel and was infested with insects. Seemed like a lot of people in the hostel were living there long term so was a strange vibe for backpacking, sort of felt like you were living in someone else’s house and they didn’t seem to care about the cleanliness of the place at all. good location and near the beach/ main town.
Super semaine au Surf Paradise ! Le staff est vraiment top : accueillant, bienveillant et toujours de bons conseils pour les activités. Les chambres sont propres, avec clim, et surtout très calmes - parfait pour bien se reposer après la journée. Bonne ambiance sociale aussi, idéale pour rencontrer du monde. Je recommande 👍
+ Ubicacion perfecta para acceder a la playa, habitacion con aire condicionado, baño compartido limpio, el personal del hostal (Marcos, Virginia, Lucho y Pili) son muy profesionales y me trataron muy bien, siempre presentes para ayudarte y responder a tus necesidades. 100% recomendable

I absolutely loved my stay at Surf Paradise. Amazing and friendly staff. I upgraded my room and the owner Diego even changed rooms around for me so I could have my friend stay with me. Everything is close walking distance, the ocean is right there. Best hostel I’ve ever stayed 10/10 you will not regret your stay here! Pura vida vibes only 🌊💜🌸

What an amazing experience. Getting to know Diego the owner and all the other phenomenal staff. Diego is invested in making sure you have the best time, and experience. Everyone was attentive to all the small needs and always there if anything at all was needed. Rooms are simple but clean and nice. The atmosphere was really relaxing with hammocks and 2 chill common areas outside. It's right in the center of town. I'd definitely come back here.
