Laughing Leopard Hostel

The team of the hostel and the vibes are really nice. Wifi works perfect also in the rooms, which is not so easy to find in Sri Lanka. They should work more on the clening side.

Terrible stay.. the rooms were really damp and our toilet was leaking. The host didn’t seem to care and was very unhelpful. There was no drinking water avilable at the property or soap. The property is also very far out of town and feels quite isolated. The only redeeming thing about this place is the family dinner.

honestly not the best hostel at all, beds were damp with ripped sheets and no blankets, walls were mouldy and bathroom tap didn’t even work, also smelt of the dogs everywhere, we left and went elsewhere

The mattresses are very hard and thin, there are no curtains, no hot water in the shower (the place is very cold in the evening/night), not even soap in the bathroom. The bathroom was very dirty. The staff were super friendly though. But for the price I would have expected more cleanliness and comfort.

Das Zimmer roch muffig und nach Schimmel. Die Matratze hatte diesen Geruch aufgenommen. Nachts war es unendlich kalt und man hat zum schlafen lediglich eine dünne Decke bekommen. Das Bad war nicht wirklich sauber. Ich hatte ein Damenzimmer gebucht, jedoch als ich schlafen gehen wollte, war ein Mann in diesem Zimmer ebenso einquartiert. Ein absolutes No-Go meiner Meinung nach! Trotz allem sind die Mitarbeiter nett und hilfsbereit und die Welpen waren super süß!

Horrible hostel which felt like a drug den. Dogs barking all the time. Techno music playing late into the night. Main common area didn’t feel welcoming at all. Didn’t stay the whole night as it was so bad. Avoid! Hostel owner has also received lots of complaints from neighbours about the noise, but has friends in high places so the police don’t do anything. Don’t support this business

Sehr kalt, ungemütlich und unsauber. Das family Dinner war aber nice.

Humidité insupportable dans les chambres, lit mouillé quand on arrive pour dormir, ce soir là ils ont décidé de faire la fête jusqu’à 5h du mat dans l’hostel sans aucun scrupule pour ceux qui ne souhaitent pas participer … bref ça restera ma pire expérience au Sri Lanka

Debes saber que es un party hostel. Mi cama estaba húmeda y el colchón era muuuuy fino. Pasé frío pues la habitación era fría y húmeda. El ambiente muy bueno y el staff muy servicial y amigable, pero mi cama no me gustó nada.

Pretty social hostel, free family dinner which is great, and my laundry came back quite clean! The beds aren’t the most comfortable though and it does get a bit cold at night.

I loved this hostel! It is very social, the owner is so kind and helpful, and family dinner was always delicious. Would recommend!!!

Si vous cherchez un hostel pour faire des rencontres et pas trop loin du centre ville je vous recommande. Le dîner était excellent et le personnel est très gentil. Cependant les sanitaires sont vraiment pas très propre. Les lits ne sont pas très confortable non plus, avec des draps qui me semblaient pas très propre. Mais dans l’ensemble c’était bien pour une nuit.

Really nice atmosphere while we were there, the family dinner is a great way to get to know people. The hostel location is quite far from other restaurants and highlights of the town though, so expect 20-30min walks or tuktuk trips. The hostel doesn't organise activities itself but we were able to book a nice tea factory tour for a good price.

Nice enough hostel, very basic but from speaking to other people in near by hostel it seemed that all hostels are very basic in this area. Dorms definitely could do with a bit of a make over, especially the 8 man dorm which I stayed in. A little moldy and damp in areas. Very social during are stay, food is lovely in the evening.

The hostel was very social and we enjoyed the activities they hosted for new years. Slightly out of town.

Very disappointed, place was filthy, so much mould near the bed and rooms damp. Is a 30 minute walk from town. Free dinner was okay but we saw a rat in the kitchen so decided to skip it for the second day. Did laundry which took over 30 hours to come back, and we lost so many items of clothing which they couldn’t find and did nothing about. I get it’s in the cheaper side but quality overall was awful and we wish we stayed somewhere else.

The people are nice, and the vibes also. A bit younger/party vibes than i was in the mood for. But that was just me. It wasnt the most clean hostel, specially the bathrooms (but moldy).

It was an amazing stay,the owner and staff went out their way to organize some activities for the guests.Easy to socialize with other backpackers and the rooms are great as well.The family dinner was nice and all the staff are friendly.There can be lot of flies in the common area outside sometimes due to the weather but it was totally fine with me.

I enjoyed my stay at the laughing leopard. It is a nice and cozy hostel and the included family dinner is a great way to socialize. The staff and owner of the place are funny and very friendly, which definitely adds to the nice vibe

Tolles Hostel, sehr bequeme Betten. Das kostenlose family dinner abends ist super und die Mitarbeiter richtig richtig nett. Es hat sehr heiße duschen, was bei dem Wetter in Nuwara mega gut ist.

Really good social scene here, met some amazing people and the family dinner definitely helps. Beds were okay, nice with curtains. Not super clean, saw some rats outside. But overall good

Het personeel is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Lekker ontbijt. Zeker een aanrader. Het hostel is heel sociaal. Perfecte plek om nieuwe mensen te leren kennen.

It’s good for 1 night, dinner was nice, I really loved the fire pit & carrom board was a lovely touch!

The best hostel I’ve visited in Sri Lanka. It was recommended by two people separately I met at previous hostels and did not disappoint. The rooms are clean with spacious lockers and there is a family dinner, with a delicious selection of vegetable curries and rice. The best thing is the social aspect. There is a large communal table that everyone collects around and a fire pit area. I made so many amazing friends just sitting around and chatting! Also there are three lovely dogs there!
