Dit grote woonhuis bied de echte back to basic backpack experence aan. De vrouwen slaapzaal was wel comfortabel maar kende helaas geen privacy. Geen sloten op de deuren resulteerde in een nachtelijk bezoek door een andere gast. Ook was de keuken niet schoon. Het personeel doet wel hun best om het beste van het verblijf te maken met de gekregen middelen. Erg vriendelijk personeel.

On hostel world the location said it was next to the train station, but it was actually in Aesch 45 minutes out from Basel. When we first arrived it's nothing like it looks in the photos. We booked a 4 room dorm and ended up sleeping in a room with 12 mattress on the floor and you are sleeping on top of the person next to you. There is no lockers or security for you're luggage. I would not recommend and have never been more shocked with a hostel.

Staff was nice but everything else was bad to awful

We could not find this hostel. And they never answered our emails (we sent days prior to our trip) and their phone number doesn't work. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. We ended up having to go somewhere else and I just had to give up the security deposit I paid for this.

This hostel should not be running, please do not book this place and please read this review as to why you shouldn’t stay here. First of all the address was not clear at all, so we went to the wrong place and it took us an extra hour to get there from the centre of Basel. I booked a 12 bed mixed dorm room (thinking it was bunk beds as shown in the pictures) and was put in a boiling hot attic that had a see-through sheet separating the male beds from the female beds. Did not feel safe whatsoever. If you are a young female traveller, I would not recommend staying here. Sketchy environment, filthy kitchen, and junk everywhere. Environment hardly matched pictures.

This place is unsafe, unsanitary, and likely unlicensed. Foam pads were placed directly on the floor inches apart—no real beds. The building doubles as a residence with unclothed children running through shared spaces. No locks or security. It was overbooked by 8+ people, and we were moved to a cluttered public room with throw blankets and told to “be flexible.” We left at 11 PM and slept on a train. Completely unacceptable. I will be filling a formal complaint with Hostelworld. 0 stars.

If English is not your first language, or you are new to the hostel world, a guesthouse is not the same thing as a hostel. You are actually living in the house of somebody and renting a bed in it. (For some it might sound stupid but misunderstanding can happen to any of us) The entry was a little hard to find, but its up the little pedestrian alley, to the wooden door! I think this place is good if you’re staying one night, I personally wouldn’t have done more.

Bonjour, j'ai passé deux nuits chez Nivarta hostel pour visiter Bâle.L'endroit était calme,magnifique et propre.l'emplacement est aussi très pratique,juste à côté de l'arrêt de bus,ce qui facilite vraiment les déplacements en ville jusqu'à minuit même plus tard jusquà tôt le matin. il y a u sauna, un endroit entouré par des jardin, très calme pour un séjour de détente et de tranquilité . Je recommande Nivarta hostel sans hésitation pour un séjour agréable et reposant �...

Overall an interesting experience. No real issues. Friendly atmosphere, laid back. Enjoyed access to a piano.

This place is cozy for everyone that likes to meet new people and have a nice stay in the region of soloturn. The staff and people that take care of the house are really friendly and everyone takes care for each other. I can recommend this place for families and students in same ratio.

Les hôtes étaient très sympathiques, les sdb étaient très propres et la literie plutôt confortable ! Je ne suis resté qu’une nuit donc je n’ai pas eu beaucoup le temps de rencontrer les résidents mais ceux avec qui j’ai pu discuter étaient tout aussi sympathiques que les hôtes.

The house in itself is very nice and the host is lovely. However, some "rooms" are just separated by curtains and the mattresses are very thin. Because of that we were woken up by a crying baby early in the morning. Also, parts of the house felt really stuffed with old furniture. The bathrooms were clean, just the "kitchen" was absolutely disgusting (sticky, at times all the cookware was dirty, no windows and no real stove). Staying here can be a vibe but it comes at a cost..

A nice place to stay in the nature and enjoying mountains, rivers, local culture I really love it and o can't wait to be back

Negative: The room that was described as a four bed female dorm didn’t have a door, just a curtain. The room was also very small and there was no privacy as the mattresses were next to each other on the floor. We couldn’t pay with card but had to do a PayPal transfer leading to higher transaction costs. The payment didn’t seem professional. You couldn’t close the door so the shower (again just a curtain). Sacha and his wife are great people who are committed to providing this amazing option in Basel. I met some great people on my stay. It was a very comfortable walk to the train station(though there is also a bus right outside the hostel), and I felt welcome from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.
